Scheduled for Sleeve but thinking about Bypass instead?
I am taking Dexilant for GERD and have recently halved the dose and I don't have any regrets. I was scheduled for RNY and changed it to the sleeve .

Information post surgery
Yes you will be able to, with that being said you may want to wait until you are close to goal. Once you start playing around with foods not on the plan you may have a hard time getting to where you are trying to go. It can be a slippery slope.

Stretched Pouch?
How do you feel when you eat 3 oz of chicken, fish, pork, or beef ? Things like that still fill me up pretty quickly

Stretched Pouch?
Your pouch will relax over time and its highly unlikely that you have stretched it out. I would imagine people that do stretch there pouches would be binge eaters and do it over and over again ( my personal opinion ) I was told they don't stretch but on an episode of My 600 lb life Dr. Now said one of his patients had stretched their pouch. Just stick to the guidelines your surgeon gave you. Good luck

Will gastric sleeve work for me?
I have read articles saying the sleeve has more restriction then the RNY . I am 23 months out and still have great restriction. Before the surgery my portion size was huge and I loved cake, ice cream and candy lol. Now I keep all that stuff out of my house and when I want something I go out and get a one serving. Either surgery will work and you get out of it what you put into it. You have to remember its a tool. Good luck to you !

22 days post op - feel like I messed up somehow
It could also be acid or thirst. I got hunger confused with these two things early on, so I would take an antacid and or drink something before running to the food. Good luck to you

Weight gain
It can be very aggravating with stalls, just keep following the plan and the weight will start coming off again. My experience was I would not lose for 3 weeks but maybe a pound or 2 then BAM I would lose 5-8 pounds in a week. Everyone is different on how there bodies release the weight, so whatever you do stick with your plan.

Told today No Bypass must be sleeve
I was going to have the by pass and the day I scheduled the surgery I changed it to the sleeve and I am so glad I did !! My surgeon told me I could lose the same amount of weight and I have lost 145 lbs !! He also said that by doing the sleeve I had somewhere else to go from there if for some reason it didn't work, but either surgery is just a tool and you still have to do the work. I can take NASIDS where I would not be able to with the By Pass. Good luck to you !

Post-op revelations
They do come in handy. Kids eat more in a sitting then I do, lol. Have you ever had the waiter or waitress keep asking if you want something to drink? I now just tell them water and leave it sitting there, it is just easier then explaining it or to keep saying no thank you.

Post-op revelations
The bariatric team here gives a special dietary needs card which gives me children price on a buffet (Golden Corral ) or I can order off the child menu if I go out to eat.

Why no yogurt in first 2 wks post OP?
I was also allowed yogurt. The first 2 weeks of my plan were full liquids.

NSAIDS
I take ibuprofen 800 prescribed to me by my bariatric NP . Sleeve patients here can take it, but not by pass patients.

It loves it-It loves it NOT
In the beginning taste changed a lot for me. Mostly with anything that had tomato in it. I don't have any issues with any foods now.

Can Gerd improve after being diagnosed after VSG
No, in the beginning I took half dose in morning and half dose at night. Now I take 30mg instead of 60mg every morning.

Can Gerd improve after being diagnosed after VSG
Well thank you for the info, I would love to get off of the PPI so I will talk to my bariatric NP and see what she says. I still have heartburn even taking the PPI and sometimes it gets really bad. Antacids do help most of the time.
