  1. I guess I have the record. I went to the seminar on 4/2/08 and surgery two days later on 4/4/08! I was self-pay. I am so happy with it so far - I've lost 28 pounds to date and have not dieted at all - I eat what I want, just alot less of it.
  2. Sounds like you are doing great! Has the fill loosened up a bit? Are you able to get the solid proteins down?
  3. By the way, I was trying to edit my ticker and I can't remember my password. Does anyone know how to get it? Thanks!
  4. Thanks for the feedback and no I haven't really been losing I have teetering back and forth with the same two pounds for weeks now. So I will try a small fill possibly .5cc or so. I have 5.5 in a 10cm band now. I hope you don't have a flipped port, but there is another post on here tonight about one and she said it was fixed under a local anesthesia and wasn't bad at all! Good luck.
  5. Thanks for the response! I made an appointment for a fill on Thursday - I'm just afraid of being too tight. Like I said, sometimes I "feel" the food going down. We will see how it goes. Sounds like you are doing great to have lost so much in 4 weeks - keep up the good work!:smile2:
  6. I was banded on 4/4/08 and have lost 28 pounds. I lost 20 in the first 3 weeks and have slowly lost a pound here and there. I will admit that I am not "dieting". My doctor says most people can eat normal food - just a lot less of it and still lose. The positives are: 1. I do not have cravings like pre-band. 2. I eat alot less than pre-band. Negatives: 1. I can still eat too much - like a whole grilled chicken salad and I could top it off with something else but I choose not to. 2. I am hungry within 3 hours. Do I need a fill? I am at 5.5 in a 10 cm band. I thought I had slight restriction because I sometimes "feel" things going down - but maybe I am eating too big of bites or too fast??? Thanks for any responses. Sorry this was so long!
  7. Is it possible you are too tight? I don't know from personal experience yet, I have had 2 fills and still have only a little restriction. I have read alot about people gaining weight if they are too tight (because like you said you can't eat healthy food). Just a thought!
  8. Well, my story probably sounds even more bizarre. My seminar and first appointment were on April 2nd and surgery on April 4th! However, I had been researching the Lap Band for weeks. I have done great so far - down 22 lbs. I love my band! I had first fill last week. I had 3cc in a 10 band. I had minimal restriction for a week and now It is pretty restricted in the morning, but not at night - think I need another small fill?
  9. I've heard alot of people say increasing your protein will help you to stay full longer - worth a try!
  10. Hi - I was banded on 4-4-08 and my first fill is on 5-6-08 (doesn't sound too bad I guess). I'm not so much hungry as I am just sick of mushies! I cannot have any meat except baked fish and tuna and I do NOT do Tuna! I would kill for a grilled chicken salad. Anyone have trouble with lettuce?
  11. How long does the tightness lasts when it happens from stress? Can you feel it tighten or only notice you cannot eat much? Thanks for the feedback - our bodies are so bizarre how things can affect it!
  12. Is your port located just below your bra strap? Have they discussed locating it somewhere else? I read about several people that have it in their bikini area (sounds weird I know) - but it might be worth considering. I was banded 1 wk ago and my port is right in the crease of my tummy roll I hope it doesn't flip. Good luck!
  13. I was banded last Friday - finally feeling like myself again. The biggest pain I had was with the gas. I found out that when I sat up or stood up the pain would go to my shoulders or chest, but when I couldn't stand it anymore I would lay down and the pain went away almost instantly. I know its not good to lay around too much. My port side is still tender and is actually located in an odd place, about 3 inches below my bra strap, right where my tummy roll is - very uncomfortable! But the good news is - I've already lost 10 lbs. since surgery!
  14. Thanks for the PM - I actually had my surgery with Dr. Spivak on 4-4-08, still in the "I hope I know what I did" phase. (lol) Actually, I think it will be okay.
  15. Thanks for all the feedback - I think I'm going to go for it! Will keep you posted.
  16. Do you mind sharing who your Dr. is? Sounds really scary!
  17. That's great - thanks for the info!
  18. Has anyone had a problem with spicey foods? I love Mexican food and would hate to never be able to have another bite of it! Thanks.
  19. Wouldn't that normally be considered a "mushie"? I'm still learning hoping to get banded soon. Thanks!
  20. On the boards everyone says liquids only for first 2 Weeks but the doctor I'm going to use says liquids for first 2 DAYS and mushies the first month! Anyone else do this?
  21. jimmie a, Thanks for your input! I think I'm gonna go for it.
  22. Skinny Jill: How do you like Dr. Spivak? Trying to get some info. on him before the seminar. Thanks!
  23. Anyone used Dr. Spivak or Dr. Garth Davis in Houston? Any positive or negative feedback? Thanks!
  24. Are most people happy with Dr. Spivak? Just a little nervous - trying to get the most info. I can before going to appt. Thanks!
