  1. Wanted to post this just in case others were wondering about French Onion Soup. So I'm in week 3 and got tired of the typical chicken and beef broths so I decided to have french onion soup broth. Tasted great and went down just fine. But omg I am paying a price today. My stomach is very angry right now! I have a lot of discomfort and pretty bad reflux. Drinking lots of water to try to keep myself hydrated and flush it out of my system. Note to self, stay away from anything onions for a few more weeks!

JULY SLEEVERS- How are you doing?

Had surgery on July 11 and I was on clear liquids for about a week. My surgeon a weeks later advised me to stay on full liquids for an additional two weeks since the upper GI I had after surgery showed some fairly severe swelling. I can tell you I am mentally so done with liquids. The thought of broth makes me sick. I'm so looking forward to transitioning to purees this week. I have another dr appointment on August 9th at which time I'm hoping he clears me to eat some solids. As for health issues, nothing major with exception of some constipation recently. As of today I'm down 30 lbs since surgery but I'm seeing day to day stalls since I'm for sure retaining water at this point.
  3. Just want to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong but is it normal only 6 days post op to finish an entire 11oz protein shake in about 25 minutes?

    Liquid phase postop

Just had surgery July 11th and started clear liquids on Wednesday and then just started protein shakes today. Dr said he'll probably clear me for the next step when I see him for my one week check up on Friday.
  5. So I spoke to my surgeon last week and he told me to just continue on my low carb, high protein diet leading up to my sleeve surgery this Tuesday, July 11th. The Hospital told me to not eat anything after midnight the day of surgery but that's it. I'm kind of shocked because everyone seems to be on a special pre-op diet prior to surgery. I have lost nearly 80 pounds in 6 months since I started the process so my thought was perhaps this is the reason why he's not altering my diet prior to surgery. Also my surgeon did confirm I'll have a catheter for the surgery. As a male, I'm so not looking forward to that! Anyways anyone out there not been asked to be on special pre-op diet? If so, any recommendations what I should eat the day before surgery? Should I just try to keep it to liquids only?
  6. For me, I've only told the people who are the most supportive in my life. So spouse, close friends, and some family. I told one person I trust at work but my plan is to not bring it up unless someone directly asks about it. I'm not ashamed that I'm having the procedure but knowing that trolls are everywhere and judgement and criticism is what they live for, I prefer to avoid the frustration and aggravation of dealing with those naive people.

    No Special Pre-Op Diet?

Yeah I actually checked with the surgeons office again yesterday and they just said no special instructions from him except to continue my normal diet. I feel like I need to keep things light just in case. I really don't want any complications. I guess maybe I'm just being over paranoid.
