  1. Hello everyone, I had said I would start exercising when I hit 280, which will be approaching and I need to plan. I am more anxious about going to a gym than I was about the surgery. I haven't walked into a gym since 1993! I have thought about hiring a personal trainer, but I don't want to feel ashamed/embarrassed or uncomfortable. Has anyone dealt with this and how did you deal with it? do you have any recommendations? I do walk a fair amount, live in NYC and deal with walking, subways, stairs, etc all the time, but that is not the same as working out. looking forward to hearing who else dealt with this and how you dealt with it. Thank you!
  2. Hi - I am now on the pureed phase and am averaging 500-600 cals per day. I am loosing 1-2 lbs per day, which seems a little excessive. I would like to moderately up my fat intake with good fats. I do not like avocados which would be the easiest approach. Any other thoughts to up fat content (I am mostly eating plant-based protein shakes, pureed lentil soups and broths). I love eggs, but I tried a soft scrambled egg, ate half, and immediately vomited, I think it is just too soon for eggs. Thanks for your advice/recommendations!
  3. Congratulations ! And great work!
  4. Sleeved on 5/26. I don't know what to say except the best thing is to suck it up when you are awake and move as much as you can. Walking, standing, get yourself out of bed. Then sleep for an hour then wake up and do it again. First three days I slept off and on about 16 hours a day. Sleep is a miracle for healing. Trust yourself and it will get better. Today I just got home from a 25 block walk and museum visit and going back to work tomorrow. My body is still getting used to the very low calorie intake I have been on since I started my preop diet. It took most of us years to get fat and will take time to get healthy. Love and strength to you!
  5. Hi! Washington Heights here! Sleeved on 5/26 in Mexico. Going back to work on 6/3. Feel great and drinking lots of fluids. A little nervous about dealing with crowded subways post op but will take it one Day at a time. Nice to meet other New Yorkers!
  6. Did mine may 26th in Cancun with Dr Perez. Great experience and glad I was so fully educated before going. Felt great and was moving right after anesthesia wore off. No pain Meds required.
  7. I am surprised that probiotics aren't more strongly recommended. I had started taking VSL3 probiotic about 6 weeks before surgery at the recommendation of my doctor because I was on heavy antibiotics for a leg injury. The probiotics impacted my sense of wellbeing so dramatically I kept taking them. I had. BM two days after surgery and have been regular since.
  8. Orgain. Can order on amazon. Plant based, vegan, and organic
