Maybe they will give me a pre-op diet this Wednesday at my pre-op meeting. Even if they don't I will do it myself, just to get in the groove. The hardest will be chewing slow and not drinking with my meal. how long did it take to get use to that. Enjoy your trip,:biggrin: I will keep you posted. Carol

Hi Michelle, My surgery is 4/21 with Dr. Atkinson, how long did they keep you in the hospital. I have my pre-op on Wednesday this week not sure what to expect. My surgery was scheduled for May then my Insurance changed to HPN. The good news was My sergery is a month sooner. Most likely because the new insurance only p/u $5000 and I get to take care of the rest. I think it worth it. I'll keep you posted. Carol

I'm in Las Vegas and the cost out of pocket is $16,000 I know this because my insurance will only p/u $5000 total. Can't wait. Surgery date is 4/21,

I can't believe it, I had a date for May 16th and then found out the very same day my insurance changed and was told I would have to get a new referral. I did and now my date is April 21st, go figure. I'm not complaining except now I'm nervous and excited at the same time. Before I was worried about the date in May because I have my Mothers 80th bd in June and My (older) Sisters Wedding in August. I'm hoping now with the date earlier that I should be into a routine w/solid foods. Good luck to all you ladies. I'm 55 and if you noticed my parents are in their 80's, so I pray this new life will be long, healthy and active.

I was such a diet pepsi and diet dr pepper freek, now I am hooked on diet peach snapple, not sure if thats good or not, surgery is scheduled for May 13th Now I have to get used to drinking more water. That's going to be the hard part. Any suggestions? Carol LV

Mary, Sorry I don't have tricare, I have Loomis and I am still waiting for approval. Because of my insurance I had to do a 3 month dr. supervised diet. Once I finished that I had my psych evaluation and lab work and testing done. At that point when I dropped of all my results and they check that I turned in everything they gave me an appointment which is this week. So really it depends on how soon you get the tests done . They will give you a packet showing you the timeline for everything. Good Luck Carol LV

Hi Mary, I have an appointment with doctor Atkinson this week for my consult, from what I unserstand he is the best in the area. My PC doctor also recommended him. I went to his seminar and really liked him, also the girls in his office so far have been great. Sometimes you have to keep on them to return phone calls, other then that so far so good. Hi, I'm new, having my consult with surgeon on Friday, Can any one suggest a protein drink that does not have the gritty texture to it? That is going to be my biggest problem with getting all my protein in the beginning. Help Carol Lv
