  1. I had surgery with Dr Fitzer, it was 3 years in May. I had an awesome experience with him and his staff.
  2. I am almost 45. I had gastric bypass on May 7. I wouldn’t change it for anything...and honestly, I wish I would have done it years ago. I started out at 401. And I’m sure there was a time I was prob a little higher than that. I had to lose weight prior to surgery per insurance requirements...so I lost 41 pounds. I was 358 on surgery day. I weighed myself this morning and was 305. I am very picky! The list of foods I don’t eat...is huge! The dietician will help you with that. I had no health issues prior...not one...except for BMI. I have felt fine since surgery...no sickness...as long as you follow his instructions and keep in touch with them you will do great! Good luck!!!
  3. I am! A few days after being released I told my husband I didn’t think he did the surgery, they just gave me a nap. Lol! Incisions are healing great, I had hardly any bruising at all...I just started week 2, so I’ve tried some oatmeal, unsweetened applesauce and mashed potatoes...she told me no milk, so I made them with chicken broth and nonfat Greek yogurt. They were pretty good! Still just a teaspoon...I’m probably not getting enough fluid but I keep trying each day...I get tired during the day, but overall feeling good!
  4. Can I be added to the groups too? Hoping to make it to a meeting eventually. tpiper@k12.wv.us
  5. A little sore...still pretty gassy but a lot better than yesterday. Nervous now about water intake and either not getting enough or popping my pouch. I’m sure I’ll be fine....I’m a worrier. Lol
  6. Just got released....headed home.
  7. Thanks guys! I will update later!!! [emoji8][emoji8]
  8. Today is the day!! I have to be there at 1:15....surgery at 3:15. Liquid diet was fine...didn’t start feeling hungry and cranky till yesterday. Today I do have a headache...but I didn’t sleep well last night...so I’m sure that has something to do with it. Getting more nervous....
  9. Just had my pre op....now waiting to see Suzanne....signed my surgery consent papers....made me more nervous! [emoji51]
  10. I struggled with that 41 pounds lol...but I knew I had to do it. I was still up on my weight this morning, but my ring was loose and I felt better...so hopefully by Thursday I will have lost this water...20 days till surgery!
  11. Yea, I was looking it up, and we have that right to choose not to be weighed. The only weight I care about is the one at Dr Fitzers office. I only had to lose 10 pounds for Dr Fitzer but my insurance required 10%...so I lost 41 pounds. 17 of that was in the last month. I think I just messed my self up...I normally have no issue at all in the bathroom area. Good news is, the milk of magnesia is working...still very bloated...but hoping the water I’m pushing today will alleviate that by tomorrow. It was just hard looking at the scale and seeing 6 extra pounds I’ve been upset all day.
  12. Just a quick question....my insurance states I can not gain during this whole process. I met my goal weight for surgery at my last apt with Suzanne. Over the past week, I’m not sure if it’s the drastic change in my diet to lose the weight or what...but I haven’t gone to the bathroom...been taking different meds to help...but my weight is up some. I go to my apt Thursday with my primary dr to get surgery clearance...during this past year, I have opted out of getting weighed at my drs office...just because I weighed in on the scale at Fitzers office and didn’t want the stress...I wonder if I can still opt out of that on Thursday? I don’t have my pre op at Fitzers office until the 26th. Just wanted your guys advice...I like only getting on one scale...lol
  13. That is awesome! Glad you’re here! How are you feeling? What hospital did you use?
  14. I emailed Heather the other day and heard back from her...she told me pretty much the same thing. No driving for a week...no lifting 25# for 4 wks...she pretty much asked me how long I wanted off, and that he gives up to 4 weeks. I am a transportation Aide for Jefferson County Schools. Our kids last day is June 1st...but we have to go a little longer. I told her I would rather be safe and do 4 weeks, but asked if I could be released before then and able to return back if I felt like it. My only worry at this point would be that I can’t take water or anything with me around the students. I did get my FMLA papers returned yesterday, it didn’t have how long on there.
  15. I know some of you went back to work after just two weeks...what does Dr Fitzer put on your paper work as far as how long to stay out?
  16. Ok! I drink a lot of water. I quit soda almost 8 weeks ago. But I take big drinks...I was like ‘how will I know!?!?’ Lol!
  17. Ok...I watched the video that Azra sent me... so one question...if you are used to drinking a lot...how easy is it to take small sips at first...I’m paranoid I will mess up...
  18. Ok, I thought I read a comment saying that’s what it was. I guess I could go on and email her. Thank you!
  19. Hey guys! Hope you’re enjoying your Sunday! For those that have already had surgery, did you have to take the Bariatric surgery class with Azra at Reston? My paper has that on there, but I wasn’t sure when I should do it or what all it entailed.
  20. Danielle said yesterday mine would probably be in the afternoon...
  21. I had been curious about Reston...I’m used to going there for my appointments anyways, so it’s familiar. My friend had her sleeve done by Dr Fitzer almost two years ago... she did Haymarket. I’m thinking I’ll be a nervous wreck that day. Just because of my kids...I’ve never been put to sleep...delivered my daughter almost 7 years ago by c-section...that’s it. I have a son in North Carolina for school, he’s 20. Kylee will be 7 the weekend after my surgery. I assume it’s normal to fear not waking up? I’ve heard about the walking and the sipping. How long did you guys stay in the hospital?
  22. Danielle told me to call my primary dr to set that up for next week. She’s sending me the info to give my dr because the blood panel they need is different. I also have to do the EKG. She never mentioned endoscopy...my insurance didn’t require that...so not sure? I’ll have to ask her.
