September sleevers wanted!
LilMissDiva: Don't worry I think you'll be sleeved fine. I'm just paranoid that my stomach, where the lap-band was oversewn won't be smooth enough for the sleeve. My surgeon said that he planned on putting a mesh in that area and then oversew it to assure against leaks. Even then I'm worried about that. The ideal for me would be that he oversew the entire staple area, but he doesn't think that's necessary. Anyway, good luck tomorrow.

September sleevers wanted!
tdov1: Good luck on your surgery tomorrow, good idea on taking extra liquids before surgery. I remember when I had my band repaired back in December I didn't take extra fluids the day before surgery and to top it off I had a glass of wine, I was super dehydrated after surgery. So this time I'll make sure I take in extra liquids. Take care. dbernier01: I will also have my band removed on Sept. 16. and will be sleeved. I've thought of telling my surgeon to wait on the sleeve if he thinks that there will be complications doing the revision. Depending on wether he thinks my stomach should heal a bit more before the revision.

March Bandsters How Many Fills ?
So far, I've had 4 fills and 2 unfills. When I got my last fill on July 29, I was at 5.9 cc and had a .05 cc fill. I had to get a slight unfill (.02) because I was not able to eat a decent meal. Wow, what a difference that made! So now I have a total of 6.2 cc and I finally have perfect restriction. I love my band! I can't say that enough.

DR Verboonen
Write his name in the search box and see what turns up. Hope this helps.

restriction when?
My first fill was 2.5 cc, second fill 1.5cc, third fill 1 cc. My third feel gave me too much restriction. I couldn't eat or drink so I had to get unfilled .8cc. My next fill will probably be .5cc and I'm hoping that will be my sweet spot.

My Emotional Rollercoaster Peaked Today
SanDiegoPhotog, don't allow your emotion, pain, liquid diet to get the better of you. You've done great to get this far and believe me IT WILL ONLY GET BETTER!! I remember going through the exact same thing, I thought it would never end. It took me about three weeks to start feeling normal again (normal?). Hang in there, get plenty of rest and give yourself time to heal. When you go in for your follow-up ask if you can start on mushies. I was allowed mushies after one week and that kept me a little more sane. Just remember, the sun will soon shine, see it coming over the horizon? {{{HUGS}}}

Hello Fabulous Fourties!!!
Hi fabulous forties! I have been greatly encouraged by all your posts. I'm 44 and have had my band for 2 months. I know that there is a long journey ahead of me and I'm just trying to figure out how to make the band work for me. I live in Roasarito Beach although I state San Diego as my hometown because that's where I was raised and have lived for most of my life. I have six children 26, 24, 22, 17, 11 and 7, three grandchildren 3, 18 mos. and 7 mos. I've been happily married for 27 years. My husband and family are very supportive of the lap-band. I know I have my hands full with three children still in the home and living in another country doesn't make it any easier. But here I am trying to make the best of it.

eating better increased exercise still no weight loss
I'm also watching what I eat and exercising every day for at least 45 minutes on the treadmill. So far, my weight loss has stalled and for the last three weeks I haven't lost any weight. In frustration I put my scale away and plan on weighing in at my next fill appt. Also, I had my psych follow-up (8 wks. after surgery) today. He suggested I drink more water, at least 72 oz. and to break-up my exercise into two segments daily. He also mentioned that I should get in enough protein (about 100 grms.) He explained that as the body gets rid of the water and breaks down the protein you boost your metabolism. Good thing my fill has kicked in and I'm not as hungry otherwise I would have gone back to my old eating habits by now. My perspective on weight loss has changed now that I have the lap-band, I know eventually I will lose weight, so that's comforting.

Quite possibly regretting my UCSD decision
I was wondering how things were going for you. I'm glad that you have everything squared away and everythings going your way. Dr. Bhoyrul is an excellent physician and he will be with you every step of the way. You are in good hands. So far I'm doing just fine and couldn't be happier.:biggrin2:

How much weight have you lost since your banding?
Since surgery on 3/19/08 I've lost 23 lbs.
-
Post-Op..do you hve any regrets?
After telling my kids for years that "This time I was really going to lose weight" they would give me a look and say "Yeah mom, o.k." It was a constant struggle to lose weight and I would give up on myself easily. Since I've been banded I don't find myself saying that anymore and the weight is coming off. I am excited about having the lap-band because now I can concentrate on eating healthy and exercising while the lap-band helps tames my hunger.
