    three-week plateau

What is the 5-day pouch diet? I have been on a plateau for about a month and it's making me insane. HELP!!!
  2. I'm a little almost a year out from my surgery (April 22) and I think I'm getting hypoglycemia. I keep getting these episodes where I suddenly get nauseaus, lightheaded, kinda hot, and almost dizzy near faint. I hage never been diabetic before even at my highest weight and it does not run in my family. I know it isn't my blood pressure because I did check it and it was fine. Once I eat something, then I feel okay just weak for awhile. Has anyone experienced this?

    Hypoglycemia???

Thanks ladies for the support! I went to the my PC doctor and my lap band doctor and they did a full blood workup on me at the lab. I am awaiting the results. I notice the other evening at the gym I was feeling faint and weak and stopped my Zumba class early. Thanks for the hints on what to eat prior and a shake after to recover. I will try that! I will let you know my results which I should have by the end of the week. Do I need to purchase a glucose monitor to know when I am low? Please advise and thanks so very much again for the support and answers!

Where Is The Connecticut Band Fam

CONGRATS Sharona, You had a fantastic year! May I be so lucky. I am doing well for the most part. I just developed some strange hypoglycemic tendencies and wonder if it is lap band related. I hear that my blood pressure meds may need to be adjusted since I have lost the weight. I'm almost a year out from my surgery (April 22) and I keep getting these episodes where I suddenly get a wave of nausea, lightheaded, kinda hot, and almost dizzy near faint. I have never been diabetic before even at my highest weight and it does not run in my family. I know it isn't my blood pressure because I did check it and it was fine. Once I eat something, then I feel okay just weak for awhile. Has anyone in my CT family experienced this or even heard of it? Sharona take care and keep up the great work...you are my inspiration!

    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Hi there everyone, I was banded on April 22nd and feel I am losing slowly. I realize that if I were to exercise more I would lose more but my schedule does not allow it right now. I am generally feeling great and rarely PB or slime but have port site pain especially when I bend or lie in bed on my right side. I know not to sleep on my tummy for that will really hurt but lying on side never hhurt until recently. Does anyone else have this? I am starting to get worried.

am I too tight or is this right finally?

Thanks so much for this post. This is exactly where I am. I drink too fast, try to eat that "last bite" and don't chew as well as I was initially told to. This last fill "did me in"! I was doing great eating almost everything and now....I need to get used to the real world of banding. It was a shock but I am so glad it finally kicked in. Thanks for sharing your story it's good to know I am not alone!!

Where Is The Connecticut Band Fam

Hey neighbor, I am right off Old Town Road so we are real close. I have heard others have problem with deli meats but me NOTHING! Since my last fill I do feel some restriction but not a full feeling. When I eat I think I eat too fast and therefore get this burning feeling in my chest and the hiccups. I am slowing down and chewing better. The small things I forget. Thanks for the encouragement and perhaps one day we can meet in the park and maybe walk or something. Take care....

    restriction when?

Hi everyone, I was banded on 4/22 and for the most part I am doing well..losing slowly so I decided to increase my exercise to help the cause. I have had three fills since being banded and can honestly say I feel very good. I have never PB or slimed but have gotten real tight on occasion. My biggest problem is that I am still getting hungry sooner than every 4 hours and worry I am over eating or even worse "eating around the band". I can still eat everything I did prior to surgery just slower and in some rare cases less of it. I know that this is what has been hindering my weight loss. For the most part, I do make much better choices as to what I eat but..sometimes I don't. Does anyone else feel this way or had the same problem? I go back for my 4th fill after the 4th of July. I am looking forward to it and hoping, anticipating, that I can lose another 3 or 4 pounds prior to it. Wish me luck!!! Hope everyone is well with my April Avenger Family!! Take care and we will talk soon!!! __________________

    Congratulations all 4/22 banders

Lita, How are you doing? I am feeling fine...pretty much back to normal. I don't have runs and very little gas anymore. I was advanced to Stage 3 on Thursday and on the following week I was told to go to Stage 4. I did cheat a bit today and had Spanish food but not a lot. I had a meat and cheese empanada and 1 spoon of rice and Beans and a bite of chicken. It was soooooo good but I don't want to start doing that on the regular. The gas will be a problem for you for about a week and then it just goes. I do find I need to eat every 2 hours or so or my stomach will roar like never before. I have Cream of Wheat for breakfast, yogurt for snack, a smoothie or 1/2 c of soup for lunch, an Optifast for mid afternoon snack, and some Protein, veggies for dinner. I always end the day with a popsickle, applesauce, or Jello. My biggest problem is trying to drink 8oz in an hour. I know I need the Fluid but I just forget. I do get full quick but am not losing right now...think I am stagnant. I have been released for exercise so next week its off to the gym. My mini-goal is to lost another 7 pounds by time I go back to the doctor for my first fill on 5/16. Wish me luck!!! I sent you a private message with my email and messenger info...look forward to hearing from you soon.
  13. :thumbup:Our time has finally come.....I sdmit I am a little scared but excited too! More just hoping I am making the right decision. I wish all of you a safe, successful, and easy surgery with no complications. I will be at the hospital at 6:15am for a 7:30 operation. Please check in after so I will know everyone is ok and I will do the same as soon as I can. Be blessed...:tongue_smilie:

Bandfan1, Good luck tomorrow on your surgery! Let me know how you are doing once you feel up to it. Plan to rest for the first day and 2nd day but be ready to walk at least 15 min twice a day to get rid of gas. Don't forget to breathe deeply as often as you remember it hurts like all heck but I found it to help push the gas out of my chest and downward. Lastly, don't ignore the pain medicine like i did...it does have a purpose. Take care and God Bless!!
  15. Hey there you are doing very well. My surgery was 4/22 and my one week post op is tomorrow. I can only hope and pray to be as lucky as you. I would like to know what menu/meats he recommended if you don't mind sharing. Keep up the great work!

    Congratulations all 4/22 banders

Hey are definitely thinking alike...I too cheated today with 1/2 c. chicken noodle soup. Tasted soooo good!!! I did email the doctor to let them know what I did and will let you know what they tell me when I get a response. I am full and satisfied and have had only jello and Isopure protein water since. That was at lunch time and I am getting ready for bed now. I did go back to work today and felt fine. Beware of stretching, reaching, desktops as those are hazards that hit me today. I got really tired around 2:30 or 3 and started to have some port incision pain. All in all it was a good day. I hope you have a great one. I did not tell people at work what operation I had when I was out so it was good to hear that I looked rested and even slimmer. :blushing: I hope you have a wonderful day back and I would like to become your email buddy. We can help each other through this although it seems we are already on one accord!!

    Congratulations all 4/22 banders

Hey Lita, Glad to hear you are doing well. My incisions are much higher (mid tummy) as I told the doctor I did not want my bras or pants to ever irritate them. Today, I began to get very hungry!! I am craving scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes (guess that's becaue I know they are allowed on the mushy stage) and I can't wait until Thursday for my post op visit. I am going to email the physicians assistant again to put the doctor on alert that I am very ready for stage 3. I asked her the other day did she think I was progressing normally after describing to her the liquid gas or runs scenario and she said I was right on target. It appears we are both doing the same so I would say you too are right on target. Let's keep up the good work!! Talk to you soon. p.s Are you on MSN or Yahoo Messenger?

Hi everyone, I believe you!!! I do feel better and almost normal again! I have very little pain in the incisions and very little gas pain. Though my biggest incision is more sore than the others and starting to itch. I am only taking liquid Tylenol at bedtime to provide comfort so I can sleep. I went out Friday and also became tired easily but consider it strength building for when I go back to work on Tuesday. I am walking about 15 min a day for now but am losing weight so fast it is scary. From my Optifast pre-op diet until now I have lost about 20 pounds. I weigh daily but it fluctuates often so I only log on Thursdays. I wasn't starving hungry but developed a wicked case of the "runs" and called the doctor so they advanced me to Stage 2 liquids on Thursday for more nutrients. I go for my post op visit on this coming Thursday and I am hoping to be advanced to Stage 3 "mushies". YAY!!! Continue to feel better and let's keep in touch!!!

Hi Lita, On post op day 5 I too am feeling much better. I have very little pain in the incisions and very little gas pain. I am only taking liquid Tylenol at bedtime to help me sleep. I read your blog (which was great) and see the problems you have at night, perhaps you want to try this too. Congratulations all 4/22 banders

Lita, Thanks for the exercises....I am doing them regularly. I do have more gas pain today and had to use more pain meds on a regular 4-6 hr schedule and take gas-x to help with the gas. The incisions are not really sore though...thank goodness. I hope you do well and let's keep in touch.

    Congratulations all 4/22 banders

Lita, Please tell me all about your exercises as I too was banded yesterday and not doing as well as you. My dr. found a hernia that he had to repair so the gas is pretty bad but the incisions themselves are bearable. I tried to hold off on the pain meds today only to find out that is a no-no. Deep breathing is very hard for me and I'm worried about pneumonia and blood clots. I know I'm being paranoid it's only 1 day after surgery but I am interested in those excercises if you can share them. Let's keep in touch as we go down this path togrther....

Where Is The Connecticut Band Fam

:confused_smile:Just a quick uppdate to let everyone know that I made it though the surgery. They found a hernia that they repaired and I am having some trouble deep breathing. I hope it is only due to the gas pain not a blood clor or pneumonia. I did not take too much pain meds today as it make me so woozy but wow do I regret it now. I will take it or at least liquid Tylenol during the day on a regular schedule and do lots more walking. I do have some port site pain but it is minor compared to this chest heaviness or gas. I am only one day out of surgery and trying not to get worked up and worried so I hope in another day or so I can report I am doing much better. Thanks for everyone's well wishes and I will report back in soon.
