    109 pounds!!

I never did quite reach my goal of 140, but I have reached another goal which was to become a healthier person and to be able to go out and do things that I was not able to do before. I now go hiking, I go out and walk around with no issues at all. I can run and chase my grandson now. The level of happiness that I have achieved far out ways the negative of not hitting a weight number goal.

  8. Hello all!! I had my revision surgery from the band to the sleeve on March 8th 2017. I must say overall I am pretty damn happy with it. I am still having pain where the port was but I have heard that is normal, also it is still hard there not sure how long that will last or if it will be forever. It has been about 6 weeks from surgery and I have no more pain at all other then the port site, and that is just some slight discomfort once in a while not really pain, my wounds are all pretty much healed. I have lost to date a total of 49 pounds putting me at 210 down from 259, I am pretty excited about losing 11 more pounds because then I hit onederland!! (wiggles) Ok, so now for some things that I have noticed happening to me after surgery and with the weight loss. First one is my butt hurts a lot lol...I think it is because I am losing my cushion there, also I have been having a lot of back pain since and I never had back pain before. I get really cold often now which is new since I used to always be hot. My hormones are out of wack, sometimes I cry for no reason and I am not depressed or anything it just happens. This maybe tmi but my periods are much heavier and afterwards I notice I feel warn out, just so wiped out I don't want to do anything but sleep, it only seems to last during and a few days after but it really takes everything out of me for those few days. Also my sex drive seems to be amped up, hubba hubba..lol . I walk everyday and do ok with that but I have noticed if I try to go to the gym and work out I get light headed and tired real quick, not sure if that is because I am just about 6 weeks out or if that is because something else. Another thing I am really struggling with it trying to get all my food, liquids and proteins in a day, I am never hungry so trying to get all that in I always have the feeling of being overly stuffed. So that is about all I can think of for now, but if anyone can help a newbie out with some of these issues I would be most grateful!! Also if you do not use protein shakes to get in your protein, what do ya use?
  9. Every doctor is different from what I have come to learn in what they tell their patients regarding food ect..My doctor is very strict and he told me at the very first meeting with him I would have to give up certain foods forever. So for me that is what I have to do. I know some who are farther out then me who are allowed by their doctor to eat things that I will never be able to eat. I am sure I could do what I wanted, no one would know but me right? I won't though, I made this choice well before the surgery to give up those foods forever. So really it does come down to what you can do, and what your surgeon tells you if you can follow it or not. You are right it is not an easy thing to do and it is a choice that takse a lot of thought. Best of luck to you!
  10. I am 3 months out almost 4 and I still struggle with getting all the meals/protein shakes and water in a day. I am still on about 2-3oz a food only and with the shakes in between I stay pretty full all day. I find it is getting hard to have willpower around the family. I am holding out and telling myself that this is for the best and I can do it, but when they bring home fast food or make a yummy cake for a special occasion and it is just sitting here in the house...I tell ya it is really hard and sometimes I cry, but then I am able to bring myself back out of that and go for a walk or something ad reset my mind set. Anyone who is thinking about doing this please be sure!! Everyone thinks about the pain of surgery, but not many think about the pain mentally. I took a year to decide if I was going to do this or not, if I was mentally able to do this, if I really wanted to give up certain foods forever, and for me it is forever, I will never go back to those bad foods. It is not easy for sure, but it is worth it if you stick with it. <3 To date I have lost as of this morning 74 pounds, that is no joke and makes me feel great not only physically but mentally. I can finally walk miles with my family and not get winded, I can go hiking and actually enjoy it. I have not felt this good in at least 23 years!!! If you really want to do this surgery and you prepare your mind you CAN do it and it will be so worth it. Good luck to everyone!! ^.^
  11. Just checking in!! I am doing really good!! I have lost a total of 63 pounds and most of my issues have been resolved. It really did take me awhile to find a rythm with juggling the food and water and protein shakes but I have finally worked it all out and getting everything in a day I need.
  12. I am getting all my vitamins and they just had me add iron which is helping a ton! My butt the doctor says I now need to work out those muscles to get them stronger so the pain goes away haha. My crying bouts seem to be calming down thank goodness!! I am actually not on any medications just all these vitamins now... Everyone seems to being doing pretty good and that is great, yay for us! On average it seems I am losing about 2 pounds a week, at first I was bummed with this number but my doctor seems to be very pleased and I am feeling great so I am moving a long as I should be I suppose. I did the math and if I do not stall and continue to lose 2 pounds a week I should be around 150 by Christmas!!
  13. Thank you Ms. Brightside! I was thinking of looking into going to a chiropractor for the back pain and yes it feels pretty good to be so close to onederland!! Hehe YeaMe needing to do whatever it takes to get it in is easier said then done for sure. I am trying and I guess I will figure it out eventually..
  14. hmm33502 Heather, That is great!!!! I am so glad to hear you are doing so well. My surgery was March 8th and I am doing pretty good..I just seem to have issues getting all the food, liquids and protein shakes in a day. I am taking all my vitamins and they added some iron into the mix last week due to lack of energy. I am down 49 pounds and feeling pretty good! I have been walking everyday but I have not started really working out yet. Best of luck!! Keep up the great work. =D

  19. I am 6 days out now and doing pretty good! No more pain just a bit of soreness now where there port was. I am advanced to the soft foods stage now but still not allowed to have any protein such as shakes.
  20. Heather my surgery is coming up Wednesday the 8th. I was curious if your band was full before the surgery? I have had issues with the band and port so it has been empty for at least the last 5 years or more. I am just curious if it might make a difference, maybe like I am starting all over and to forget everything I learned about with the band and such. I may be rambling I am super nervous!! lol
