  1. Hi Everyone: I had my band put in on April 25th I have had two fills so far am due for another this Thursday. My port is on the left side of my bellybutton. I have had a great deal of pain on my left side in the tummy region but further to the back. I thought it was perhaps I hadn't had a BM but I had a really good one (TMI) today and it still really hurts. I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing this - its quite uncomfy. Any help would be appreciated... Thanks Bandess

  4. Thanks everyone! I have booked with Dr. Yau at 10:00 a.m. on April 24th, I get my package tommorrow...with pre-op instructions and the pre-op diet...still really nervouse but its great to see such an awesome network on here!
  5. Looking for some advice and reassurance. I have been lurking through the site and I want to understand if TLBC a good place to have the lap band done? Is there a good support network -. i.e fill nurses, nutrition, etc? I was reading about nurse Nancy and her not being very supportive or sympathetic. Is Dr. Yau approachable - I have only had a consultation with Kathy - she seemed quite nice, but generally speaking I like to meet the person who is going to be working on me before the actual day. I was also reading a fair amount about emergent situations and that going to emergency is generally a waste of time as Dr's don't know the first thing about it. I live in Ajax so its not like I am having to fly across the country. I am quite nervous and scared any reassurance would be greatly appreciated. Knowing what your experiences were like would be great! I really want to have this done but am a tad terrified. Any thoughts would greatly be appreciated!
  6. Hi everyone: I am new to this board and quite excited by what I am reading. I have gone for my consultation and my hubby and I are on board and are hoping to book something for the end of April at the TLBC. I am waiting a little bit as I have an eight week old baby which I had by c-section and just need a wee bit of a rest. My question is does OHIP pay for any of this surgery - I understand that they are some provinces that pay for some? Or do you know if private insurance will pay for some or all of it? Presently my BMI is 44.4 I am approx. 130 lbs overwiehgt....WHOA just reading that is a bit wild! Also do you know if this surgery can be used as a tax deduction? Any input would be greatly appreciated...sorry for all the questions!
