  1. I can eat popcorn with no problems!! Goes down easy!!
  2. I was banded on 3-24-08 - I love it!! I cant imagine how much I would weigh right now if I have not had the surgery. My weight loss is slow compared to some - but that is ok - I drink tons of Water, exercise, and am feeling so much better.
  3. I had my surgery at Providence in Waco - Dr. Moffatt. He is great and so was Providence. No problems whatsoever.
  4. I am in McLennan County (Waco area). I would love to chat with yall about our WLS journey!!
  5. I had my 4th fill on 9-15-08 - and for the past 9 days I can barely eat. I have lost 5 lbs (according to my scale) in the past week. Some days, things go down good, others nothing!! I am struggling to get the proper amount of Protein. The burping, etc. has gotten bad in the past week.
  6. Hang in there James - it is so worth it!! My insurance would not pay; so I did the self-pay route and was banded in Waco. My weight loss has been slow but each time I go to the doctor I show a loss and thats been very important to me - they are small but a loss and no gain! I also like to look at it like this: If I had NOT had the surgery, I probably would have gained another 20 - 40 lbs at the rate I was going. I havent had any troubles and I view it as a blessing!! Good luck to yall!!
  7. It was the best decision I ever made. You wont regret it!!
  8. I have Unicare - mine will pay for nothing. I was self-pay.
  9. I was banded 3-24-08 - mine too was an easy surgery and recovery - I have been doing pretty good - one fill - but I will say hunger has been coming on here lately like crazy in the last week. I go back to the doctor for another fill on 6-4-08. My hubby had gastric bypass last August and has done very well - 110 lbs lost and looks great. We are very supportive to each other and the best - when we go out to eat, we both always order from the child's menu - very cheap!! BTW, my hubby's doctor was Dr. Kuhn (sp?) with Baylor Medical. My surgery was in Waco. Mine is coming off slow - but I am ok with that!
  10. Hi! I am from the Waco area and had surgery at Providence on 3-24-08. I am doing pretty good and do not regret my decision at all! Best of luck to you!
  11. Christine - I go for my first fill on Monday, April 28th. I am so scared but your post made me feel so much better!!
  12. Same boat here. AZNikki - same here. I do great during the day and when I get home from work - everything falls apart eating wise. I was banded on 3/24/08 and I need that first fill bad!!!
  13. I took off 8 days and was so glad I did and wished I would have taken another week.
  14. My first fill will be April 28th. I am so ready!! I do not feel that much restriction. It is a struggle not to eat more things. Mentally - I just tell myself that it will get stuck - cant eat it!! But I have to admit that I have cheated on a couple of things. Bandster hell - my life right now.
  15. They gave me ice chips until about 6:00 pm that night (surgery was at 9:00 am); water (sips) after that. No cath for me either.
  16. Im Karen from Central Texas (Waco area) - I am Vice President of an engineering firm. I have been married 27 years and have two grown sons and two precious grandbabies. I feel like I am in bandster hell right now. My first fill isnt until April 30th and I am not feeling a lot of restriction and feeling hungry a lot lately!! Love this thread!!
  17. NOFATCHIX - I think your comments are not appropriate and uncalled for. Maybe you should try your crap somewhere else. What not be more supportive and encouraging???
  18. Congrats on your progress!! Yes it is very hard - I was banded on March 24th and like you on liquids for 7 days then mushies after that. It is so hard a times when you are starving!! I will be glad when things get more normal. I am still having soreness in the port area also. BTW, my first fill is April 30th also. I am looking forward to more restriction. Keep up the good work!! (PS - It is hard giving up everything - I was a closet smoker and gave up food and cigs the same day - it is a hard thing what we are doing....but we have to remember the end results)
  19. Wow - what a list - thank you for taking the time to put it together.
  20. I was banded the same day (3/24) - I am doing pretty good except the last couple of days I have noticed more soreness in the port area. My port location is in between breasts down amount 2 inches. Wearing a bra is a killer - had to go buy a soft, open down the front bra. I guess the pain, if I had to describe it, feeling like a "pulling, tugging" feeling.
  21. I showered at the hospital on day 2 before I left - dr said it was ok to shower.
  22. Banded by Dr. Moffat/Dr. Sims - Providence Hospital.
  23. I was banded on Monday, March 24th and the tightness in my chest is easing a little. I actually ate a small baked potatoe (no skin) - with a small amount of grated cheese (low fat). It went down really well and was finally something that filled me up!! I am in Central Texas - Waco area. Hope you are doing ok.
  24. Hello - glad you find this site - it has been so helpful to me!! I am in Central Texas and was banded Monday March 24th. All is going good - approximately 14 - 15 lbs lost from beginning of two week pre-op to now. I am sore, tired and a little hungry but it will all get better. Welcome again. Karen
  25. I was banded on 3-24-08 - I will be glad when I get to that point. I am sore, tired, and very sick of liquids. It is getting a little better though each day (easier to walk around, easier to turn over in the bed, etc.) BUT I am still so thankful that I did this. I weighed yesterday and have lost about 14 lbs since I started the two-week pre-op. I would have never been able to do that without my "tool". In fact, I probably would have added some extra weight at the speed I was going. Glad you are doing great - hang in there - we will beat this!!
