  1. Has anyone else experienced this? I am about 4.5 months post op Sleeve and it seems that I can’t eat as much lately. When I first had the surgery I was very hungry all the time and it seemed that I could eat more than I thought I should or I would get bad hunger pains. I am still on a good loss track so I wasn’t eating too much to affect my weight loss. However, I have noticed over the past week or so that I am eating less and not as hungry (I know that’s a good thing!). I get full after a few bites and can’t eat anymore. I am just curious if that is normal to change the amount you can eat after 4 months from surgery. It feels so much better to not be hungry all the time. I hope this starts to kick in a higher weight loss amount. I am down 82 pounds from my heaviest so I have consistently lost through the different amounts I was eating.
  2. Total of 76 pounds down!!! https://s.bariatricpal.com/uploads/monthly_2018_03/Feels so good to not have so much pain. I am no longer pre-diabetic, released from cardiac care, no more pain meds for my back. It’s not always the easiest ride but I don’t regret being sleeved one bit. Totally new relationship with food that I feel I had to sort of grieve the loss but it is getting easier to deal with.

    BIG Milestone!

Finally got from a size 26 pants to size 20!! I didn’t think I would get here this fast. Weight loss numbers are slower than expected but the inches are falling off. Best decision of my life!! Anyone debating whether you should do this just go for it. There will be times you regret it but overall it is wonderful.
  4. I am almost three months out and have been stuck. Not losing anymore and need to step up the exercise. I want to join a gym but can’t bring myself to go in alone be and I don’t have anyone to work out with. Does anyone know of any workout groups to join to find work out buddies? Or how do you get over being too shy to go in alone? I am in south Jersey and am thinking of joining Planet Fitness.
  5. Well I made it to 2 months out and things are getting easier. Surgery was December 11. Weight loss has slowed down so I just started a modified pre-op diet again with the Protein shakes and a small dinner. This has allowed me to lose another 3 pounds this week so far. Weight loss has been slower than I was expecting, but I am just going to keep going and let this happen as it will. I feel so much better- I am off pain meds for my back, just found out I am no longer pre-diabetic, and I am able to move more than I did prior to surgery. For anyone debating whether to get this or not - it’s the end results that you need to look forward to. Everyone handles the surgery and recovery different so we cannot tell you your story. You just need to make the decision if you want to continue living as you are today or if you want to go through some discomfort to improve your life. Overall I am so happy I did this any I am taking this day by day. Pic is first one from morning of surgery and the other was taken this week. I can’t see a big difference yet but really feel it because I can get in clothes 2 to 3 sizes smaller now. Woohoo!! Good luck to everyone coming up on their surgery dates. How did it feel to get into the 100’s? That’s what I am looking forward to. Keep up the good work.
  8. I know everyone is different but what is the average weight you should be losing each week? I am 11 Days out and have lost about 8 pounds. I thought in the beginning it would be a little faster. I am more than excited about how much I have lost both pre and post-op, but am looking forward to feeling better when I get more off. I just seem to be the same weight the past few days when I was losing about a pound a day in the beginning. HW - 316 SW - 269 CW - 261 GW - 150

    Sleeve surgery last friday

You are lucky. I have 10 days of shots I have to give myself. I have my last one tomorrow. I will be glad to be done that. I hate needles. Not to mention my stomach looks like a pin cushion. Each needle bruises so I have so many little bruises. Still from when I was in the hospital too.
  10. Wow - I started this process back in March of this year and it felt like I was never going to get here. Excited but nervous about not knowing what to expect. Looking forward to feeling better and getting healthier, but worried about old bad habits returning. I have to keep ahead of my brain and not let it sabotage me. Good luck to everyone else going through this process and I will check in afterwards HW. - 316 CW - 272 Goal - 150

    Dec 18 date and holidays!

I was sleeved December 11 and plan to visit family for Christmas. It’s obviously going to be uncomfortable to sit there while they eat their delicious meal and I am sipping sipping sipping. But I have to function in this world and know everyone else needs to continue with their lives how they want to. I can say that a few times this week while my daughter was home with me, I had some strong urges to eat what she was having. She was hiding in the other room so I wouldn’t see her eating. I got her to come out because this is something I have to live with the rest of my life. I can’t expect to not be around my old favorites for the rest of my life to avoid cravings. Good luck to all of you new and upcoming sleevers. It was a challenge to get through this first week so far but everyday it does get better.

    5 Days post-op

I feel that I haven’t seen too many people on here with my issue. I am currently in stage 2 so still on liquids. All day I just feel hungry and I want to have food to chew. I am just getting up to my goals of fluid and protein so I am taking in a decent amount. I am so anxious to get to the soft solids to hopefully feel a little fuller. I know some of this is caused by my brain but it’s hard to tell sometimes. Does anyone have suggestions for trying to feel fuller? During the day I have been “eating” protein soup, protein shake, skim milk, jello, chicken broth and lots of water. Any other suggestions for feeling fuller? I am looking so forward to stage 3!!

    5 Days post-op

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I will take them and try to get them to work for me. I really think I need to get to the next stage with heavier food. I had a lot of bad habits that I need to undo to this body.

    5 Days post-op

Never heard of the proton pump inhibitor. I go back to the surgeon on Tuesday so I will ask. Thanks for the info.

Thanks I will have to try that.

    5 Days post-op

Unfortunately it’s not all head hunger. I know when it’s in my head but this is definitely my stomach never feeling full and it is growling all the time. Not the sounds when your stomach is processing “food” but true growling. I am just moving ahead and looking forward to the next stage to get something heavier in my stomach. Thanks. Good luck with everything.

    SURGERY DAY TOMORROW 12/11!!

I am feeling a lot better. I did not do well on Wednesday but I am starting to get this down. My pain is minimal and there is just discomfort in the stomach when swallowing. I find today that I am missing chewing food. I am looking forward to getting to that stage and enjoy something of substance again.

Sleeve Buddy need - Surgery date 12/4

The same thing happened to me. I am still working off the 6 pounds I gained while in the hospital. It was a shock to go through all of this to get on the scale and see that much of an increase. I assume it was all of the IV fluids. I was sleeved 12/11 and am starting to feel somewhat “normal” again. I find I am really missing chewing food. Looking forward to eating something of substance soon.

    SURGERY DAY TOMORROW 12/11!!

All went well. Had the surgery Monday and came home Tuesday. Wednesday was a little rough because I was exhausted and just didn’t want to take in the fluids I need. Today was am taking a turn to the better and am getting around better and am able to take in more fluids. Got my first protein drink in today and that really helped. I have to be honest and say on wednesday I was regretting this decision but today I am back on track. You will have good days and bad days but you just have to work through them one day at a time. I am only day 3 after surgery so it will continue to get better. Still have about 3 pounds on from the hospital so I will be happier when I start seeing a decease there too.

    Surgery Today 12/14/17 and Scared

I just had my surgery on Monday and am still in recovery mode and trying to figure this all out. I don’t regret having it done but I am just looking forward to the discomfort being gone and I can start enjoying real food again. Good luck today and all will be fine.

    POST-OP QUESTION

I had my surgery on Monday and was discharged on Tuesday. I weighed myself this morning and am 5 pounds heavier than my was the morning of surgery. Is this typical? I am thinking it may be from having all of those IV fluids while in the hospital because I haven’t been eating a whole lot. Yesterday in the hospital they had me “eat” 1 oz of broth, 1 oz of apple juice and 2 oz of sugar free frozen lemon ice. When I got home last night I had 3 oz of broth and water later. Is it typical for your body to hold these calories because it thinks it is in starvation mode?

    Almost Time!!

My surgery is on Monday (12/11) and I am getting anxious. Feel better already. I have lost 19 so far in the pre-op restricted diet stage and 52 lost from my heaviest weight. Can’t wait to see how much better I feel as the pounds continue to drop. Good luck everyone else going through this process!!!

Lol - thanks. I am so excited to get this done.

    Suggestions for pre-op diet?

Premier Protein is great tasting. I don’t like any other kind I have tried but this one tastes just like chocolate milk. I just started my second week and it is tough to do this everyday. My mind keeps messing with me and makes me want stuff I can’t have. Good luck with your journey.

    PRE-OP DIET

I am almost through week one of my pre-op diet and have lost 8 pounds. What is an average weight loss to expect during the 2 week pre-op? I wasn’t even thinking about possibly losing weight before surgery so this is a great start for me.
