  1. Mind over matter, the first couple days will make you hangry. But by the 3 and 4th day its not an issue, at least for me. I even forgot to make my "dinner" last night.
  2. I feel you, someone always has an answer. I have chose to only tell close family members. I did mention it to a friend and her response was "please don't do that, you aren't even that big" Thanks for the compliment but I am too close to 300 for comfort!
  3. That' s my date also!! I would definitely recommend having someone stay with you. My husband is staying with me. He always has stayed when I've been in the hospital, it helps to have someone you are comfortable with to help you bathe and do other things. Good luck to you!
  4. I'm on day 8 and have lost 11.5 pounds, surgery in 7 days!
  5. Took much water can be hard on your kidneys, try to stick to the 64-96 ounce limit. Too much protein can be hard on your kidneys also. Contact your surgeons office if you are concerned.
  6. I am on day 6 of protein shakes, water and 8 oz. of broth. The first 2 days I had a horrible headaches, I am still hungry but it has gotten better. Keep your eye on the prize!
  7. You can do it!! I am on day 6, are you doing protein shakes?
  8. I haven't had any setbacks, but was feeling crummy with sinus problems so I went to PCP and got a shot of steroids. Cleared me up in a day. Hope you feel better!
  9. I have a small cup of broth to mix it up. I like savory things not sweet things, it has helped a lot
  10. I'm getting sleeved the day after on the 28th, on pre-op liquid diet now. Are you doing a pre op diet?
  11. I'm on day one of preop and energy is non exsistant!! Hopefully it will be better after
  12. I am also getting sleeved on the 28th, just started liquid diet today. I had to cook for the rest of the family...pure torture! But I am ready, I just planned to cook things they like but I don't hoping that will make it easier. Good luck to you!
  13. Thank you, and yes it was very quick!
  14. I definitely agree with it being a lifetime commitment. I also didn't ask any questions as to why they didn't lose and keep it off. I am totally committed to changing my eating habits, my husband and my family are committed to changing their eating habits too. Since I am the one who grocery shops and does 99% of the cooking they really don't have a choice, lol! I won't fail, that's all I keep telling myself. My son overheard a family member (this is also the family member who had it done and didn't change their diet at all, needless to say gained almost all of it back) say I wouldn't be able to do it, but I tell you what CHALLENGE me and I will succeed just to prove them wrong. Best motivation I've ever had.
  15. Do you know people who have had bariatric surgery and they are still big years out? I've got friends on both sides, ones who have lost a tremendous amount of weight and ones who lost a little and have gained back. I am worried I will fail, my dad failed but I believe he failed because he didn't change his diet. His doctor told him he could eat the same just less, which is not true. I am fully aware that its a lifestyle change! Did these friends just not change their eating habits or is it genetics? I just don't want to fail, I would be devastated. I know every one is different and I believe you get what you put into it. I'm 2 weeks from surgery day and I guess my nerves are getting to me.
  16. Every policy is different, I have UHC and I was only required to take one nutrition class, one psych visit and an endoscopy. I started process Jan. 12th and surgery is set for Feb. 28th.
  17. If you are on Facebook, look up Dr. Garth Davis. He is a BariatricPal surgeon in Houston who pushes a vegan diet. His page gives lots of recipes and info on how to go vegan after gastric surgery. It's very doable.
  18. Feb. 28th here, start pre op diet on the 15th
  19. It will be here before you know it!!
  20. It was 4 days after I completed nutrition class.
  21. If you are hurting from overdoing it, it's just your body letting you know "hey you over did it". I would take a little more time off and rest.
