  1. Chickie: I looked at your before & after pics. You look like a totally different person! You have inspired me. I'm much older than you (45), and have had 2 C-sections, so I have the yucky tummy now. But I've told myself that I'll get a tummy tuck if I get the weight off. I think the lap band is the thing for me. Again, thanks.
  2. Chickie: Thanks for all the info. I see where you had a tummy tuck...looks like you've lost A LOT of weight. Did you get to the weight you wanted to be before you had the TT? What about your arms and inner thighs?
  3. Does anyone know of a doctor in the Fayetteville area?
  4. Julie: I'm so glad you made the offer of answering questions. I have a bunch...hope you don't mind. I'm considering lapband, but, and I'm not quite sure why, it scares me to death. I think it is because it is for the rest of my life...but then I realize that this is the ONLY way I'll be able to lose weight and keep it off. question 1: does the port interfere with anything? (swimming, tanning, sex, exercise, etc.) question 2: a friend told me that eating bread was basically out. Does that mean I won't be able to eat bread again? His reason was because it kinda clumps together and won't pass through. question 3: what about steak? Is that a possibility after being banded? question 4: I guess this kinda hits the whole food issue...what do you do when you eat out? I was on weight watchers for a while and I could eat out if I was careful. How 'bout with a band? question 5: is the surgery an outpatient thing? Do you spend the night in the hospital? Is the stomach/abdomen swollen after surgery? If so, for how long? question 6: how often do you get fills? What determines when you get a fill? I think that's all I can think of for now. I guess I just really need someone who's been there to tell me all about it. Hope I haven't asked too much.
  5. I'm new here...just checking out, thinking about getting banded. I keep reading about a PB. What is that?
  6. Jessie - and any of the others in the area: I live in Harrison, actually I'm in Bergman, and I'm looking into getting banded. Where do I start? I've read about this Dr. Edwards in Springfield. What is this about a seminar? How long from the time I see a doctor until the actual surgery? Also, can anyone tell me about fills? How often do you get filled? What is the port like? Are you limited as to what you can eat? I need as much info as possible. Thanks.
  7. I am just now thinking about getting a lap band. I know it is an outpatient surgery where a band is put around the stomach to create a smaller stomach. What leads up to the surgery? What happens immediately following surgery? How often do I have to return to the doctor? I'm not sure how the whole thing works.
