Packing for Surgery
I packed based upon suggested lists on support sites. I was in hospital 1 night. The only thing I used was my toothbrush, toothpaste and my favorite pillow. I made sure to use a colorful pillowcase so I could keep track of it.

Pain Meds?
None. I had tylenol, liquid and pill form, at home. I have a high pain tolerance level and dislike the feeling pain meds gives me. Also, the longer you take them the longer it is before you can drive.

Gaining weight after surgery
How long before it goes away? I stepped on the scale and have a 6 lb gain. I know it's fluids and air, but not what I wanted to see.

2 days post RNY
I'm 3 days post surgery. Mostly I feel fine. I find that lying on my right side is very uncomfortable. My water consumption increases daily.

How to deal with Coworkers knowing you're getting this surgery! Tell or not to tell?
I've chosen not to. After I heard one snide comment about someone who may or may not have wls, I decided to keep my mouth shut. Since I don't eat with them, I figure they'll assume I'm repeating the medical diet (my last failed eating plan).

Color analysis input (aka failing at girl-fu)
Some higher quality stores have personal shoppers. My mother used to use a shopper at Bloomingdale. She, too, hated shopping and as a college administrator needed a professional look.

NEED SUPPORT :(
Isopure is a brand of clear protein drinks on my list of post surgery items. I found it at Vitamin Shoppe.

Who Is Your Biggest Supporter In Your WL Journey?
My sister and my trainer at the gym. I haven't told many others. I don't feel like explaining myself over and over.

What Was The Final Straw
The tipping point occurred when my A1C went up, the endocrinologist added a new drug and increased another. I regained weight lost on a medically supervised diet and couldn't re-lose.

Did you get snow?
Bitterly cold, but very little snow in my Northern Virginia area.

What type of exercise in first month or two?
I was told walking or recumbent bike. After 4 weeks I should be able to return to pilates and light weight training.

Dr. Fitzer
He gave me a specific weight loss goal before my second visit, 3 monthly dietician meetings, and medical clearances. My surgery is pending insurance approval. Hoping for mid January.
