  1. What a true statement.. a surreal experience fits it so well. I was banded on Jan 9th. And am just now starting to really understand what Ive done to myself! LOL Grats on joining the banded race! Happy to hear you are doing so well and look forward to hearing more from you soon.
  2. *smiles* Think it, but then keep it to yourself. There is no reason any of us should be made to feel stupid for wanting to share something which is obviously important to us.
  3. Don't panic yet. I've read that sometimes slips can self adjust with an unfill. Hang onto positive thoughts and I'll be doing the same for you. Hope you are feeling better soon. *big hugs* PS Ten pounds in a week. I am SO jealous!
  4. Sunta - Don't worry about the objections. I keep repeating my theory on other threads very much like this one (in regards to our reactions to other people's behaviors) because I feel it's important. If nobody else out there relates.. oh well. I'm still here saying it outloud, if only for my own therapy! To anca - If you'll look around, you'll see that there are at least four threads going discussing our reactions to those around us who are still overeating. Is this beating a dead horse? There are many who are out there saying that their weight is a disease, while others claim it is merely choices they've made. To single out someone and attempt to make them look stupid for their contribution is wrong. Please refrain from doing that again. Thanks.
  5. Um.. Lisa? BOBs for everyone!
  6. "Chew till it's goo" That's my creedo! There's a thread now on the FAQ (frequently asked questions) forum that has a great list of things to purchase for post-op. Check it out. *grins at leener* More cowbell!!
  7. ROFL!! Doc.. I misread your post as I was reading it to Dawg. I thought you said, 'You better hope we never meet in prison'. We are both cracking up here.
  8. *shuts up now* *snickers quietly*
  9. *whispers* Don't let him fool you, he's loving this. *grins*
  10. Lookie but no touchie! My Dawg!
  11. Oh geeze, I didn't have to deal with insurance (self pay) but I did have to jump thru all the hoops of the pre-tests. Luckily, if it's really lucky, I had a pretty bad hernia the doctor wanted to repair at the same time, so I got pushed thru the line fairly quickly. Even still, I was so anxious and nervous I didn't think the day would ever arrive. And now here I am a month later saying, 'Wow, where did that month go??' Hang in there. Everything happens in just the right time. Trust that your surgery will too. Take this time to start preparing yourself mentally and physically for the surgery. Start watching your food, lose what you can, exercise, etc. All of this will help you make a speedy recovery and give you less to lose after the surgery!
  12. Hey Sunta.. be careful with the eggs. I hear they cause a lot of people to PB. Try them but eat slowly and really chew to test them out. Sounds like you are ready! Ok, I'm getting excited for you now! *hugs* Oh.. there is a post somewhere that lists out things you should have for after surgery. It includes things besides food. I'll try to find it for you.

Ooo.. my turn! (Not necessarily in any order of favorites.) Dances With Wolves Holiday Inn (Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby - I want that house!!) LOTR - all of them 50 First Dates (love the soundtrack too!) Forest Gump Joy Luck Club Contact Stargate I might add more when I think of them. I'm old and tend to forget things. Um, what was I doing? *wanders off with a puzzled expression* ---------------------------------------------------------------- Ooo Ooo! *steals some from Mini me's list below.. Urban Cowboy *drool* Dirty Dancing Top Gun (can't believe Dawg left this one off his list!) Officer and a Gentleman *seriously drools* Flash Dace! (when this came out, I had just lost 60 pounds - came home and danced all over the house)
  16. I was banded in Boise, Idaho by the most wonderful surgeon a bandster could hope for.. Dr. Robert Cahn. Only a month into this and feeling great. I'm very excited about what this year has in store for us! By the way.. all of you posting here, take a sec to go to the STATS thread in the General Discussion forum and post your info to be included in the LBT study we are doing! Here is the link to take you to it: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=14559 Thanks!
  17. *gasp* I love group hugs! *hugs mini me with an arm out for the next person to join* You all rock! This place is the best. Thanks to all who make it so.
  18. Aww.. I know exactly how you feel. The thought of this band not being that end of this horrible struggle with weight just petrifies me. But here's the big difference between those other programs and the band, unless you by some slim chance lose your band, it will be your safety net. When you slip and fall, you wont fall all the way back to square one like we have all done so many times. I hear so many people saying they have stopped losing but are not gaining. Often times it is only a matter of some adjustments in eating and excercising and they are on the road again. Hang in there sweetie. You'll do great. I have 144 pounds to go, and sometimes that seems like it will take an eternity. Sometimes it doesn't even seem like a real possibility. Yet, I keep clinging to the goal of two pounds a week, along with the knowledge that I will not be this fat or this unhappy along the way. Each day gets better in so many ways. Smile kiddo. You're on the right road, enjoy the journey.
  19. *bows to the patron saint of the cowbell* Now then *chuckles* NJChick's advice about not buying too much was right on the money. I think I have 10 cans each of chicken, beef and vegetable broth in my cupbards that I will most likely never use! Actually, I may have eaten all of the veggie broth, it was so good! Check with your doc on the coffee. Mine limted me to 1 cup per day for a few weeks. Coffee can cause dehydration. Also, watch out for fruit and veggie skins. They get stuck easily. I have been enjoying bean with bacon soup, tuna (great protein), cottage cheese, Gorton's frozen fish fillets (no breading and they are so moist and yummy) oatmeal and Malto Meal are also good for mushies.
  20. I'm not the good doctor, but this was the same thing I experienced. They told me they wanted to be certain there were no problems before they allowed me to drink. I was only allowed to wipe out my mouth with a small sponge on a stick (much like a sucker) that I dipped in Water. After I drank the nasty tasting barium, they gave me a small sip of water to wash the taste out of my mouth. It took everything I had in me to spit that water out and not swallow it! *chuckles* I was so thirsty! But I knew the IV was keeping me hydrated and I didn't mind them being cautious.
  21. *makes a face* It's awful. I cried for days. Bled too. We had to buy a new bed from all the nasty drainage. I've been banded for a month now and still can't sit up-- ow! Ok, I'm lying and have just been slapped by all my fellow bandsters here. *evil grin* Seriously, youre going to be sore but people differ so much. Some go out shopping the next day while others take a couple of weeks to get back to normal. It's really not that bad at all. *smiles* Sorry if I scared you. I'm just in a "mood" today. Watch out LBT you've been warned! *laughs*
  22. Gotcha.. well, maybe when she sees these posts again she'll have more to add. I hope you check back and give your thoughts on this matter if she does have other pictures which might give us more of an idea of what happened here. I just feel so bad for her losing her band and her money.. along with all the hopes that I know she had in her success with her band. Thanks, Dr. Hekier
  23. Welcome, Senorita! You posted on a thread about scar pics. If you haven't already, go to the main page and find the Introduction thread. Once in that thread, find the New Thread button. Post your introduction over again and I'm sure you'll get lots and lots of warm welcomes.
  24. Something else to think about here.. Losing weight with the band is NOT easy. Look at all of the support people need here. Many still struggle. Your band will be a tool. It won't do it for you. You will have to exercise, eat right, and drink your Water. Yes, the band makes it easier but so does Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Nutrisystems, diet pills, yadda yadda.. These are all just tools, but the great thing about the lapband is that its a REALLY GREAT tool that is not only helping people get the weight off, but it's keeping it off! That is something to be excited about.. not ashamed of. *big encouraging hugs*
