  1. Congrats to you! This is the best decision you will ever make!
  2. Hasn't had any impact on me - except I talk about my banding non-stop which is probably going to get a bit annoying after a while. And when I lose more weight I'm sure I'll try to get everyone to touch my port "bump"...but other than that, no difference.
  3. Here's a link to my slim-fast-a-ccino (a slimfast shake that tastes just like a starbucks frappuccino)! I have at least one a day...i'm obsessed with them)! Just like a Frappuccino! « Lise The Loser’s Weblog

  5. Here's mine - tastes just like a frappuccino!!! But made with slimfast. I have at least one a day - I'm addicted! Just like a Frappuccino! « Lise The Loser’s Weblog
  6. looks great - and nice weight loss!
  7. i can easily do a whole shake...no problems here. i'm beginning to wonder if they really put a band in me or if i'm some odd mental test subject to see if "thinking" you have a band will work just as well as having the band. hmmmm....
  8. surgery was 40 minutes - spent about an hour in post-op and then was bored so asked if i could go home and get on the computer. stayed out of work for a week and going back actually really helped get me moving and helped with my recover (gas).
  9. you can also try my slimfast-a-ccino shake - taste just like a frappuccino! recipe here: Just like a Frappuccino! « Lise The Loser’s Weblog
  10. Try my recipe to make a slimfast shake taste just like a frappuccino. i was banded 4 weeks ago but still have at least one every day! Just like a Frappuccino! « Lise The Loser’s Weblog
  11. No worries! Insurance didn't deny me - I never applied because I "knew" I would be denied and I didn't want to go through the stress of 6 months of waiting just to be denied. My BMI was 38 and I had no health problems (no diabetes, no sleep problems...pretty healthy except for the weight). But - I didn't want to wait 5 years and develop all of the health problems and be even heavier! Plus, I didn't want to wait just to be denied. It was worth the $$$ to not go through all of that. Since I was self-pay, everything is covered (all fills, office visits, etc) for a year for the 17.5K. I was just banded 3.5 weeks ago so i haven't had my first fill yet - but all set for monday to be fill number 1!
  12. dear lord! why did you have to get your port replaced? how long have you had your band? that's really too bad...what a bundle of bills you must have! ugh!
  13. in seattle and paid 17.5K. worth every cent!
  14. took mine off at around day 4 except for the port one which i took off at about day 7.
  15. took me about a week and a half to feel "decent" and about 2 weeks for the pain to ease up. it's totally normal. you are totally normal!
  16. i'm nervous about getting my fill and not having restriction...but i'm prepared to wait for at least several fills before i'm in my sweet spot!
  17. sometimes i cheat and have a few sips...but most of the time i'm good.
  18. That's interesting - anyone know why they had the bands removed?
  19. i went up 4 lbs after surgery...but they came off after a few days. everyone is different and surgery will impact everyone differently. just follow the doctors orders and try to think of it as a long term goal v. everyday weight loss ... it's hard - but the real truth will be if we can lose the weight and keep it off years from now!
  20. i'm in the same situation - about 3 weeks out since banding. just keep eating like the doc said and know that nothing is going to happen overnight. some weeks you will lose, some you will not, some you might even go up. it's a change in lifestyle and know that right now is a time for healing - not losing. just wait for your fills and restriction - then, hopefully, we will not be thinking about food - and eating to live, not living to eat!
  21. just remember that now is the time for recovery - not weight loss. i know it's hard. i'm 3 weeks out and having a hard time remembering that, as well. look forward to your fills and all of the restriction that will come along with them!
  22. I read Wikipedia. And Wikipedia says the following celebrities have been banded. So I believe the Wiki. I have no reason not to. So here is the pills for the cravings and to burn fat.” Sharon Osbourne: Rocker wife and reality TV matriarch Sharon Osbourne was an early success story after getting a band in 1999 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles during FDA trials. She lost 125 pounds and has regained just 15. Ann Wilson: For rock star Ann Wilson, controlling her weight had been a lifelong challenge. But now Heart’s lead singer is thrilled by her weight loss, changing figure, and increased energy after undergoing a new laparoscopic surgical procedure called LAP-BAND Adjustable Gastric Banding System. And those are just some of the ones listed on Wikipedia…you can only imagine the ones who have not gone public!
  23. Just think of yourself a year from now...it will all be wayyy worth it!
  24. NICE!!! You can't ask for a better b-day present!
