  1. i definitely had the problem urinating. I would go tinkle....tinkle....wait...wait...tinkle. after a few days i could go a little more but i also think a lot may have to do with the fact that you use your stomach muscles when you urinate - i was finally going at "full speed" after about a week post surgery.
  2. No restriction...CAN eat anything...but forcing myself to eat proteins and healthy-ish choices...although all i want is cheesecake, nachos, burgers, fries, chips, cake, candy...icecream, ahhhh...i miss food!
  3. I've been documenting everything about the surgery in my blog (see link below in my signature) but the most pain i had was from the gas. the post op diet wasn't bad...i lived on my recipe for slimfast shakes that i perfected to taste like frappuccinos (recipe in my blog) and the needle was a bit hard for me because i have small veins...but the trick is to read something while they are inserting it...it helps to take your mind off of the second of pain.
  4. in about a week the pounds will start to drop off (once you go off the pain meds, salty soupds, etc)....and you'll be doing the happy dance!
  5. congrats!!! I know how absolutely amazing that can feel!
  6. Can't say I've ever had roasted yams...but they sound good (well - right about now ANYTHING sounds good!) I've saved your recipe below and will try them out this weekend. But let me warn you - I am not ..I repeat NOT a good cook. I burn Jell-O. Often. But I'll give it a shot! Thank you!
  7. Right there with you!!! Give me fill. Give me fill!!!
  8. If you don't mind me asking, how much fill did you get on your "first time", everyone??
  9. mine was 1 week...self-pay, no major "health issues"
  10. i love my tanita digital b/c it allows you to go down to the .2 of a lb...and we all know that .2 matters!!!
  11. wow - i'm 5'5'' with a medium frame and my doc told me i should be about 145-150! i told him i wanted to be 135 and he said that was too thin!
  12. i am soooo afraid of needles - but i found it helps to read something while they are performing the blood work...or try to read something. or do multiplication in your head. or look at a "where's waldo" book! it really does help.
  13. 20 lbs - that's amazing! i was banded on 3/4 and have only lost 11 lbs! and have you even had a fill yet? we aren't even "supposed" to be losing until we have a fill. it's hard to remember that...or accept it - but that's what "they" say!
  14. Well, I tried to get my date bumped up...but only succeeded by moving it forward 1 day. Gahhh.
  15. I am getting my first fill in couple of weeks and was wondering what is the average number of CC's that one typically has filled on their "first time"? How many did you have on your first fill?
  16. i was banded on 3/4. the best advice i can give is to walk. i really does help with the gas/bloating and i wish i would have walked more often!
  17. sounds about right...and YES! I'm starving. Can't wait to get my first fill!!!
  18. i wish i had that problem. opposite for me. all sweets, all the time!
  19. so glad you went into the doc and found out what it is...should be feeling all better soon? -another self-payer and feeling the pain from the band and the pocketbook!
  20. Why thank you! And yes - a year from now we will look so different - I can't wait!
  21. wow kat - look at those stats - you are my lap-band hero!!!
  22. yeahhh - that's why i love NWWLS!!! They are just fantastic!!! I have my first fill scheduled for April 1st but i'm going to see if i can get it bumped a few days so i can have it the previous friday...that way i only have to go through one more of these horrible weekends of post-band/pre-fill hell!
  23. That's exactly what I say...just as I said "vodka?" when my doc told me about the clear liquids!
  24. I would also like to know because I was banded on 3/4 and am set for my first fill on 4/1 but want to know if it's worth calling my doc to see if i can get in early b/c i am in bandster hell ... hungry as can be and wanting to eat anything i see! how do you get through this "pre-first fill" stage???
  25. Ugh - mine is April 1 and there is NO way I'm going to make it that long! I feel your pain...that is for sure! All I can think about is what we have in the house that is semi-mushy friendly!
