  1. Happy Independence Day!!!! Just a lazy hang around the house/pool day today. I'm loving it. House is clean...well....better than most days hahaha, no company, no visiting just a relaxing day. It's HOT today already 82 so we're headed for the pool. Cindy - I think what you've told your DD so far is fabulous. Just the fact that you've talked to her about it is fantastic. So many parents let it go until it happens and that's just wrong mostly because the girl thinks she's dying. My poor mom didn't get the talk and she thought she was dying for 3 days. She used towels, toilet paper, extra underwear and cried. My grandmother didn't say a thing until she got ticked washing her underwear. Well hello? Anyway my mom swore her daughters would know it all before it happened. My mom bought some life cycle books, I think at the time they were from Tampax? They were red and grey hard cover books and she went through the books with me. She brought me to the store to buy supplies and put them in a safe place for only me. (I had a younger brother that would of caused problems lol) She talked so openly with me about EVERYTHING. By the time we finished those books I knew about TOM, Sex, male parts, female parts, babies, etc. She explained to me, in such a loving way that sharing my virginity should be with someone I truly love. She said if it came to a point where I felt I really loved someone to tell her and she and I would speak to a doctor to make sure I was protected. She explained it was best to wait but, that she knew things could happen and really wanted me to feel comfortable speaking with her. You know Cindy....because she did it in this loving way....I didn't have sex until I was married at 22. (There you all know now hahaha) Everytime I was close to doing something with a boy....I thought about my mothers calm voice, loving way and said....I need to wait. I'd do other things that wouldn't get me pregnant, not a complete angel here lol but, that boy never got anywhere near getting me pregnant. Mom did explain that he didn't have to be in for that to happen either sooo I knew I shouldn't. I can't say enough about the way she told me. Many times in the car alone we'd talk while we drove somewhere. Knowing the communication was there meant the world to me. Now my dad...no way no how could I talk that way to him hahaha. Talk about opposites lol. Dad..well that's a whole nuther subject lol If I can think of more she said I will let you know. You're doing great Cindy! Oh....and the way my mom talked to me....is how I talk with my son. He and I talk about ANYTHING. Oh yes....ANYTHING. I realize there will be things he keeps from me but,....for the most part he fesses up or asks me. I'll have to tell you some of that sometime. Love him to pieces...he's growing up to be such a wonderful man. The gal that keeps his heart will be one lucky gal.
  2. I gave up Soda just before Thanksgiving 2005 and had my surgery 2/13/06. I used to drink nothing but, Diet cola. Well...knowing my surgeon didn't approve of soda or carbinated drinks as soon as I was filling out the application/survery I quite drinking it. I wanted this surgery so badly and knew I wanted to follow instructions from the start so I did it. You know...with all the mixes you can add to water there is never a dull moment. I love Lipton's Green tea mixes especially the Mandarin/Mango yummm. I also like Kool-Aids new individual mixes. Now those have sugar but, for a once in a while treat it's great for me. Crystal light I find to acidic for me but, that's me. I also enjoy Water Sensations. Those are great because they are in liquid form. Keep changing flavors and you'll never miss the soda!
  3. God Bless the USA!
  4. Just can't help myself Bean! I just have to show my appreciation to all the fine men and women who serve our country! Gotta LOVE EM and I certainly do!
  5. One thing I set my mind too before I was banded was people around me are going to still be eating the way I ate prebanded. I knew things like what happened to you would happen. So now...while they are all eating the cake, ice cream or other Desserts I don't look at the food or take it as "Gee wish I could have it" I take it as....wow I would of eat that whole dang serving and then some...thank you lap band Things like this will happen at every event and function you go to....people around us don't have to change...just we do. I'm sure she wasn't intentionally doing it. :bananajump:
  6. Anyone ever try Ostrich meat? It's a bird of course but the meat is red like beef. It's pretty good but, don't eat it expecting it to taste like chicken because it taste more like beef to me. It's exceptionally lean too.
  7. Great recipes...Thanks a bunch! I'll have to peek at the ones I have and post them when I can for you
  8. Hi John, You just posted this and I'm signing up my friend. I'm going on a cruise this month but, by golly I'd rather lose than gain so this goal will help me keep on track. This morning I was at 232...not sure if I'll get the full 11 pounds but, I'm going to try
  9. Oooops I did it again (sung like Brittany hahaha) Posted all my patriotic hellos and thanks to the June thread of course UGH. When will I ever learn. Where the heck did June go anyway? Yesterday was a good day. DH had to run an errand so I cleaned and cleaned while he was gone. Two bathrooms (man...I feel like an old lady after doing those on my hands and knees), kitchen, livingroom, vacuumed, dishes, floors, dusting...it needed it. Working 50-55 hours a week plus 1.5 hours of travel...needless to say I don't feel like cleaning when I get home. DS was at his fathers and DH out made it easy. No one in the way except two puppies lol. They were out on the deck catching some sun and shade, drinking the Water splashed from the pool lol. Then I had time to run to Walmart to put together an Engagement gift for my friend and her bo. They came over for a cookout at 4...well at 5:30 because they ran late. I got a picnic basket and put in it: Wheat thins, Multigrain Tortia chips, Light Popcorn, Propel, two kinds of low-fat cheese, pepperoni, two plain hershey bars, mint milano Cookies, can of almonds, a photoalbum, candles in votives, Barry White CD and the movie The Notebook. My friend is banded too but her DFiance isn't so the food was planned for both. She loved it. I told her it was for a romantic picnic in her livingroom. (I would of gotten wine and glasses but, I didn't want to totally break the rules our surgeon gave us lol. The cookies and chocolate were bad enough lol. Today is our 1 year wedding anniversary We had already bought the motorcycle so I wasn't expecting anything but, DH spoiled me hee hee. He got me a heart shaped pendant that he had custom made. The jeweler had to cast the piece and he put rubies, blue sapphires and diamonds in it. Yeap...my red, white and blue to match my wedding/engagement rings and my earrings from our wedding. I love it. I'll have to try to take a pic so you can see it. It's so different but, it's so us lol I got him the first and second season of his favorite show Smallville. I'll get him the 3rd and 4th for Christmas :bananajump: Today we go to his company cookout. I'm making peach crisp. Actually already did at my DreamDinners session I just have to bake it hee hee. DS is staying with his father tonight too so we don't have to worry about running home other than the possibility there will be puppy poopies waiting YUCK. Not much we can do about that though. He's been soooo good too. Well I hope everyone enjoys there day and I'll be catching up soon.
  10. You have every legal right to a copy of your medical records. The Heck with calling for them, I'd march right down to the office and get my copy right there and then. They have a copier, he has a secretary and I'm sure he has Medical assistants of a Nurse Practioner...one of them can make the dang copy so his busy self doesn't have to. If they give you a hard time tell them HIPAA regs state I have patient confidentiality rights and I'm using that right. YOU are no longer permitted to look at my files so give them to me and if you give me a hard time you'll be talking to my lawyer.
  11. A time to reflect on what our military members have done to help us gain our Independence - From years and years ago to our current history in the making. I'm sending a big THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to each and every person who has served and is serving in the military to keep our Country Free. America is what it is today because you gave - Some gave all and all gave some. Hugs and Best Wishes to you all! You make me so proud to be an American. God Bless! Happy Independence Day to all my friends at LBT. Love you!
  12. For me it wasn't the port incision but the one straight up from it. I called my surgeon and he told me thats because that top (my left) incision is the one that they do most of the work in. Therefore they tunnel in more and you bruise more. I had to put pressure on that area anytime I moved in and out of bed or walked around alot. It took a good 5 weeks to go away.
  13. My answer is a definate yes. My DH has lost 33 pounds since I've been banded. We're sharing more meals instead of each having our own, he's more conscious of what he eats and tries to stay away from white flour, sugar and other carbs. He says because I'm eating less it's made him fully aware of how he was eating and needed to cut down. He hasn't been suffering from any cravings because if he wants it he waits until the weekend to have a little of whatever it is. He's given up soda along with me too. He's been a great help to me...making my meals. Trying to make sure the meats are tender and juicy so they go down right and he constantly reminds me to drink my water. I'm soooo bad with that lol. I'm lucky to have him and his support. I help him by not buying the junk that tempts him and by buying things that are made from whole grains etc. He's doing very well. So well that I told my surgeon we got a two for one deal with my band
  14. Thank you to all of our Soldiers of the past, present and future. Freedom doesn't come free and we appreciate you.
  15. From this Patriotic Gal to you all. God Bless you!
  16. Happy 4th of July....
  17. such a good big sista
  18. Late day from work but, WGIF! Tonight we took the dogs for a nice walk and met a few neighbors (been here a year and barely know anyone...sometimes that's a good thing lol) and DH is putting some pork chops (I can't eat em I get stuck) on the grill and some steak (lets see if I can get that down). I've got broccoli steaming and potatoes on the grill yummmm. Then we're taking a dip in the pool. (Did ya know goldens love to swim lol) Tomorrow I have a Lap-Band friend coming over with her fiance (they just got engaged) and we'll be grilling again and maybe hit Providence Waterfires late on. Sunday....DH has a company cookout and it's our 1 year anniversary. I'm making the peach crisp I made at Dream Dinners. Heh heh already put together I just have to bake it lol. Hopefully I won't get stuck while I'm there. Then it's home and back to work on Monday. My group is the only group working. Everyone else in the company has the day off. UGH. So 15 of us working out of 100 employees but, we have to do it because the client is closing the books. Ohhh the employee that has caused me grief with the deposits unbalance....well company rule is business casual and she decides to wear flip-flops. Oh yea...I've got a brain. So I had to tell her it's specifically states in her employee handbook that flip-flops are a no go even on casual days UGH. PLUS she calls in the next day to tell me she's going to be late. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Did I mention the gal lives about 15 mins away? Oh well.....going to enjoy the beautiful weather today for a change! Maybe take a ride on the bike too hee hee. Happy 4th of July my friends. (My favorite holiday for this patriotic gal) :usa2: :usa2: :usa2: :usa2: :usa2: :usa2: :usa2: :usa2: :usa2: :usa2: :usa2: :usa2: :usa2:
  19. hmmm can't even eat salad without getting sick Not that I loved salad anyway heh heh Well another day in overloadville. The gal that has been an airhead did it again today. She calls me to say she's going to be late the 3rd day in a row. I guess she took it as it's ok as long as I call. grrrrrrrrrrrrr THEN she's on the phone for 30 min today while she was posting cash and she wonders why she's not balancing? Grrrrrrrr Me and the little missy are going to be chattin sooooooooooooon! Gotta hit the sack, I"m sooooo brain dead. I hope all of you are doing well and shrinking!!!
  20. Hello my friends, I just got back from a "Dream Dinners" party where Chris was the hostess. It was alot of fun and we each got to prepare a recipe to cook later at home. We made Dijon & Pepper Flank Steak. Hmmm can't wait to taste it. If you don't know what this type of party is you can go to www.dreamdinners.com It's really neat. I signed up for a 12 meal session and got a 13th meal free for doing that tonight. I figured it was something I could prepare for those nights after work where we really don't want to have to prepare a whole lot. This way it's already done, just cook it They have different recipes each month and you choose the ones you want to make. I'm including a nice big tray of Peach Cobbler because I'm going to a cookout this weekend and wahooo that's what I'm bringing. Just have to bake it before I go. The Jake, the new pup is doing great. He's so mild and laid back compared to when my Jenny was a puppy. She was so hyper lol. She's such a mommy to Jake though, it's just too cute. The little guy just melts my heart. Although....I still think I'm nuts! Even more so when his fur gets long like Jennys. I'll need to invest in the vacuum bag company hahaha. Well I haven't posted too much lately because I've been so dang stressed and busy with work. It's just nuts! That BIG mistake by one person set me back 2-3 days, a major project that has to be done all in one posting batch(group) so no one can help me and I have well over 2000 transactions in it already and I'm still not done PLUS I have to get the patient account deliquent files ready for the two collection agencies. Oh, Did I mention I have one on vacation and I'm the only one that knows how to do what she does. CALLLLLLLLLLLGON TAKE ME AWAY!!!!! Well...it's just about 10pm so I'm going to check to see if there are any new threads I can help with and then....I should work some more but, Dang my brain is fried. I'm going to bed. Betty - You're in my prayers hon. Too much going on for one person to have to absorb so considered it all of us taking a part of it for ya. Sending love and light your way! Hugs to everyone! xoxox
  21. He was out for the night. See his tongue peeking out hahaha
  22. Here are both of my babies:
  23. Hey Chris..oh man that stinks. He should have that on his profile. I know that was a BIG thing on my profile and what I watched for. I can't breath with smoke around and my son is allergic so I just couldn't do it. Donna - Congrats on your anniversary and DH did a great job on your slide  I posted a picture of the new addition to the family on our picture thread. Noooo I haven't posted before and after pics yet lol. Need to find a clean place in the house to take the pics lol. Ummm yea that excuse will work for a bit lol.
  24. Picture of the new member of the family.
  25. What a beautiful, uplifting thread. The trouble and termoil are terrible but, knowing all the prayers are being said and kind support going on lightens my heart. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. May the Lord shine down upon thee to light the path and lead the way to this wonderful thread. God bless!
