  1. I had revision RNY a year ago this month. I have lost 92 pounds and I deal with this problem as well. I don't overeat, but I am definitely eating foods bad for me almost every day. I have fibro, headaches, and just a lot of daily pain; so going for a walk is difficult for me a lot of the time. I try only having healthy alternatives in the house (baked chips, halo top, fruit... and when I'm having better days I bake healthy versions). I also do adult coloring books and Xbox. What I really think is the best is getting together with friends... play some cards!

    Concerns about failing

I had surgery Oct 24th and I have a really hard time sticking to my diet. I tried talking to people on here, but most just shame me for it. This surgery doesn't change your brain. What I have started doing lately is hobbies; something to keep busy (especially my hands) as I am a boredom eater. You need to find support in your friends and family... surround yourself with positivity. Find new ways to go out without food involved.
  3. I had a revision from a VBG/SR from 16 years ago. Back then I lost 90 pounds and kept it off about 4 years. This time (surgery was 10/24) I had RNY and am down 27 pounds as of Monday. I had the RNY because my silastic ring from my previous surgery was migrating upward and causing choking issues. I wasn't in the best frame of mind and definitely not the best health this time around. I mainly have head hunger. I was sent home with a fork - tender diet. I've definitely been cheating (i.e. had a fun - sized bag of Cheetoes, had a piece of Halloween candy less than 5 grams) so I bought baked Cheetoes and sugar free hard candy trying to curb this. I feel like I'm failing before I start. I have really bad fibro and am extremely exhausted almost every day. I lost my insurance Nov 1st. I am working on that. I go to a support group once a month, but they don't want to be friends really. I need more than a monthly meeting. Help? Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App
  4. Does anyone have recipes or websites for recipes that would help? I'm on the second stage of my diet, able to have most veggies and tomato products. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

    I'm struggling, a lot.

I'm a pain patient and spend a lot of time at home, more so inside with the weather. I'm losing weight pretty steadily these days.... down almost 40 pounds. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App
  6. I get exactly how you feel! I lost 90 pounds about 16 years ago and had attention coming from guys that I didn't see before that point. I found myself getting so ANGRY. I was married the entire time so no attempts were made on my part, but that wasn't the point. Every girl likes to feel good... to be able to occasionally to point at the ring and say "Sorry, taken". My personality was the same, only my size had changed. I was just as approachable before. It took awhile for me to get over that feeling. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

    I'm struggling, a lot.

I am depressed, apparently clinically. I came on here hoping for advice and instead got what felt like judgement from people. I haven't been back on since. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App
  8. I was wondering if anyone out there had been diagnosed with fibro before having bypass surgery. I can't find a straight answer from any of my docs and there isn't anyone in my support group or pain group with this particular issue. I'm wondering if this weight loss is going to "cure " my fibro. Not that I wouldn't have done this anyway, I am a revision patient from a VBG/SR back in 1999, having issues with the ring. Just wondering if my horrendous pain might actually go away in the next year? Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

    I'm struggling, a lot.

No, I don't overeat. I haven't since the first surgery 16 years ago. I just eat the wrong things and have some bad habits. I normally go out more, go for walks and try to stay busy. I guess the surgery took more out of me than I realized. I do go to a bariatric Support group, but they only meet once a month and they don't seem to want to make friends outside that. I was hoping to make some local friends out of that group to go through this with and they seem happy to just answer preop questions and look at handouts. ???? I'm struggling, a lot.

I am being open, that's why I'm asking for help. I'm too tired to go for a walk. Not making excuses because last week I was walking a half mile. I just talked to the nutritionist and apparently I need 3 shakes a day! I was drinking 1 in addition to my meals. I eat Greek yogurt, quinoa, meats, eggs, cottage cheese, Beans, sugar free oatmeal, etc. I have been trying! She did say a few sugar free hard candies would be okay and to put away the baked chips. I need to get out the XBOX games! ???? I am a stress eater, a boredom eater, and this is very difficult! I find I don't miss sweets as much as I thought I would, just can't wait till the Protein bars to take their place. I want to sew more, but SO TIRED. I have things I need to do as well.... Hopefully I will get there. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

    I'm struggling, a lot.

I'm not supposed to be on Protein bars till 12 weeks. Just realized today that I'm not supposed to have onions! Thought that was on my list ????. I was so tired this morning I had to sit at the stove just to cook my Breakfast. I can already eat 4 oz of food and I will be 4 weeks Monday. I'm trying to contact a dietician today! Idk what else to do. Just tired all the time, but WANT to go out. Then, because I am housebound, the cravings kick in! At least it feels that way. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App Btw, been eating onions off and on for a week. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

    I'm struggling, a lot.

The first surgery didn't fail, I did after about 4 years of keeping off 90 pounds. I wasn't planning this surgery, I was kind of thrown into it due to the choking issues from the previous surgery. I'm not saying I don't need/want to lose weight, just wasn't ready for WLS when this all came rushing into my life. Idk what to do to replace my stress relief when I'm so tired and in pain all the time. Sixteen years ago I was walking every day... Hell, I was jogging! Right now I can barely drive I get so tired. I don't want to sabotage, I just get a craving for crunchy. Also... nothing bothers my stomach.... nothing. Haven't gotten sick, nauseated, pain.... nothing since I got home from the hospital. I have watched my sugars closely so I don't dump and been trying to get in my Protein. I'm not totally rogue, but I don't think it would be that far off either. 13. Hey everybody! I'm about to go preop shopping and can't remember or find info about the sugar grams limit in food for RNY postoperative foods. I thought it was 5 grams and under. Please help? Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App
  14. I was hoping to find more of you out and about in this site! My surgery is Monday (RNY revision from a 16 year old VBG gone awry). I was diagnosed fibro about 5 years ago and was wondering if the surgery was going to throw me into a flare. I had to give up my methotrexate 2 weeks ago and for the next 3 months and I already notice a difference! Any real fibro difference with weight loss? Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

    Six week liquid diet!

Well, for me this wasn't actually my plan. I was sent to the bariatric center because my other doctor couldn't do an EGD (she couldn't get the scope down). Once this got started the surgery part became medically necessary. It was either take out the ring or take out the ring and do a revision. I kinda got thrown into this rather quickly. This has all happened since April or May. Then, once they started to set up a surgery date I only got 2 weeks notice! I freaked out that first couple days and ate a lot of chocolate, but have calmed down to just occasional ice cream and such. Lol Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App
  16. Well, the pain doc I have now doesn't treat fibro, only my bulging and partially ruptured discs. Even this she seems to think she can get me completely off pain meds! I'm tired of doctors looking at my weight and not at me when diagnosing and treating. I'm really hoping this changes when the weight is gone. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

    Six week liquid diet!

This will hopefully be a good experience to have found each other on here. Where are you from? I'm in Indiana. My surgery is a revision from a VBG. .. been having trouble with the ring migrating upward and causing choking, not to mention gaining every bit of the 91 pounds I lost the first time around, plus an extra 9! I'm very worried about failure! ???? Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App
  20. Has it made any significant difference in your pain or has it progressed over the years like you think it would have regardless of your weight? How long did you have fibro before you had your bypass surgery? Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

    1st post op visit....

Congratulations! I just joined this group this evening. My surgery is Monday morning (a revision from a VBG to an RNY). I'm just starting to get nervous! ???? I am in a support group that I go to once a month, but they don't seem very supportive, and I wanted desperately to find something before surgery that would help! This looks like it! !! ????
