What are you eating!?
i tried something today that my tummy is handling fairly well. i got ground chicken and put some onion and garlic powder and one egg in (recipe calls for breadcrumbs but i left them out and the egg held the meat together just fine). made patties and cooked them in a pan, put some organic marinara in with part skim mozzarella slices on the patties. so good! chicken parm "burger" but i obviously didnt put it on a bun.

At what point do you really worry about losing too much too fast?
I sure hope things level out for you. The nutritionist seems worried, but have you spoken to your surgeon? He/she may know more about it. Just a thought. Have you had any stalls at all? I will be 1 month out tomorrow and have hit a stall at 2 weeks out.

3 week stall

3 week stall
I am supposed to be getting 60-90 g of Protein per day. and def didnt think i was getting that without the shakes. so i am trying to get at least 2 shakes a day in. I use Muscle Milk with lactose free milk 16 g in the MM and 8 g in the milk for 24 g. so Ill at least get close. and then the tuna packets i eat have anywhere between 13- 20ish. I need to be measuring my liquids too.

3 week stall
I think I'll be giving/throwing my scale away completely. lol. It is so off anyway and not really helping with anything, just adding to my anxiety.

Hunger/Stall
I'm totally in the same mindset. Feel like surgery was a failure. I am 3 weeks post op today. Scale hasn't budged in a whole week. I think inches have but haven't measured. Feel like I'm eating to much through the day or doing something wrong I am on my soft foods stage in my diet so I'm eating pretty well anything that's not to hard or hard to digest. Blah.. I also feel like when I say I've only lost 33 lbs since my pre op diet to now it seems so minuscule. Even though it's a good amount and I didn't gain my weight overnight. I feel like I'm expecting it to be gone over night. oh how I feel crazy. Sent from my SGH-I317M using the BariatricPal App Yup. that's exactly how I feel too. It's like the progress we have made is amazing but then it stops suddenly and you feel like you won't ever pick back up again. I didn't think about inches.. It's weird I stopped losing but clothes still felt looser than they had. Maybe I can have them check inches next time I go too. I also feel like I am eating too much during the day too. I felt like I was stuffing myself until I got my food scale and have been able to track it. and what feels like a lot now really isn't. I was so shocked to see 3 oz made me feel like I was pushing it. Yup. that's exactly how I feel too. 3 week stall
Thank you guys. I am going to up my protein quite a bit. I think that could be one of the issues. I stopped the shakes because the taste was unbearable and was relying solely on soft meats for protein. Well I got rid of the premade shakes that I didnt like and replaced with the homemade ones and those are slightly better and I can at least make myself get through a whole one. Hopefully the loss will pick back up. I go this Wednesday for 1 month post op and I will be cleared for heavier exercise.

Hunger/Stall
Today is week 4 post op and according to my home scale i havent moved. First week i lost 22 lbs. Then between then and my 3 week appt I'd only lost 5. I tend not to believe my home scale because it is 20 lbs off so i only use it for an estimate but the numbers havent changed since last week. Im hoping i go in to my next appt and find out im down at least some. I have panic disorder so this isn't working for me. Makes me feel my body has betrayed me and i just went through this surgery for it to not work. Im trying to pull myself from that mindset Sent from my SM-S820L using the BariatricPal App

Dumping?
I am still too scared to try anything sweet. I have thought about it but 1 i dont have a taste for anything sweet right now and 2 i am way too chicken. lol. In a way I am afraid of dumping but also am hoping for it to keep me in line and not allow myself to think sweets are "ok" even for a splurge.

Tips for hospital and first week recovery?
I lived by my heating pad. I also packed a bag full of stuff i thought i would need in the hospital and didnt touch any of it. Just make sure you rest rest rest. I was at a family members house for the first few days after hospital and was never comfortable till i actually went home.

Dumping?
Hey guys. How do you know if you are dumping? I haven't had any other symptoms aside from (please excuse, TMI) diarrhea. Have had it today only and only two times. Is this dumping? Havent had hot flashes or nausea or racing heart. Wondering if this is just from something I ate or if I ate too much of something if that makes sense.

Anyone "loose weight" in the eye area?
I have noticed i have lost weight in my hands. they arent as puffy. I truly believe when you lose, you lose it everywhere. I have also known others whose faces completely change and they are nearly unrecognizable. It is definitely a possibility!

Spicy cravings
I got the hot buffalo style tuna creations from starkist. It hit the spot and only had 70 calories per packet which i ate half a packet, maybe less. I would love to find the jalapeno tuna packet. i will have to look next time i shop!

Spicy cravings
Have you ever tried the spicy tuna in the packet? I wonder if that would be any good, if not I can get some Cayenne and add it to eggs or something.

Is this normal?
@@pammieanne Ricotta bake sounds DELICIOUS. do you have a recipe? and I LOVE hummus. am also looking forward to steaming veggies again. I have mashed cauliflower on my list as well as broccoli if they allow it. I eat it soft anyway under normal circumstances so maybe they will allow it. I am so looking forward to eating tuna also. How long was it before any of yall could have salad?

Is this normal?
Thank you! I go for 3 week follow up on monday where they will graduate me to soft foods. I hope they won't be mad at me that I started a little early. I have been very careful not to over-do it. I just thought the hunger was supposed to stay away for a while. Maybe I will ask on Monday. I will admit I do not get in enough food during the day. I get plenty of fluids but just the sight of food, Protein shakes, Soups, even SF popsicles just the thought makes me sick. aside from the eggs and mashed potatoes i have not been satisfied for close to 5 weeks. and I can tell my tastes have changed already. I am doing well on liquid though. I am often too thirsty.
-
Is this normal?
I am 15 days out, surgery was 10/31. I am starting to feel hungry throughout the day. Protein shakes are so gross to me now I can barely get a whole one down a day. They are too sweet and I have tried several different brands. I am worried that I am not getting enough. I am also worried that my hunger is back already and will throw a monkey wrench in the progress I have made and any future progress as well. Help! I have not been cleared for soft pureed foods yet but have tried an egg and some mashed potatoes. My stomach seems to do okay with them. I stop when I start to feel full and feel quite satisfied and the hunger goes away pretty much the rest of the day. Is this normal?

Breakdown
My back hurts too. I am two weeks out.

2 weeks post op..
Thank you! and congrats to you! how do you feel? What are you eating for soft foods. And I eat everything sugar free and caffeine free but even the sugar free stuff and the protein shakes taste way too sweet. I know my tastes have changed already. I tried to eat some soup and it was like a spoonful of salt in my mouth. i took one bite and put the rest away. So I am afraid to try anything else along those lines.

2 weeks post op..
Hey guys! today I am 2 weeks post op I am finally feeling comfortable enough to lay on both sides... Does anyone have recommendations for belly laying at this point? I want to try but don't want to hurt myself internally. Had my 1 week post op last Tuesday and found out I lost a whopping 22 pounds in the first 8 days! Which was soo exciting!! The doctor didn't seem concerned like I had lost too much. I am now anxious to step on the scale at my next appointment next week. I cannot wait to get on soft foods. I cannot seem to find a Protein shake I like. Most are too sweet or too chalky. The only one I liked was the Core Power strawberry banana they gave me in the hospital, which of course I cannot find anywhere in a store in my area. So I am having issue getting in all my protein. I am doing well with Water though. I get my liquids in every day. Next week I think they will move me on to soft foods.. I cannot wait to get some mashed cauliflower! I have been only able to eat sweets and I am about ready for something savory.

Pre-op yesterday- 4 days and counting.
@@TAJ718 I definitely was! I had my surgery on 10/31.. Was so nervous and then after was in a lot of pain. But now i feel great. Still trying to get Protein in which is a struggle. @@birdie bird Thank you! it is tough though. it still is. I go for my 3 week post op in one week and I still have trouble with the liquid. It definitely isn't easy. I hope you figured it out though! have you had your surgery yet? If not, good luck!!

Hate to ask but!
6 days.. And boy was it painful. They suggested milk of magnesia. two doses over two days (about 2 tablespoons sipped each day) and if that didn't work try an enema. Definitely ask your doctor though.
