  1. I am on this Facebook page which is very helpful! They call it 5 days pouch reset and they go back to beginning! Day 1- liquid liquid protein drink, day 2- smoothie protein day 3- purée protein 4- soft protein like eggs, ground turkey, 5- normal protein meal! Just go back to your post surgery rules, drink at least 64 oz water, take your vitamins, keep your carb below 50 gr per day! You will start to lose! And you can repeat as many times as you wish! They start this challenge every Monday for 5 days! Then many restart the next Monday again! Cut sugar, carb and fat and Focus on your protein! I am post op for 2 years and stopped losing at around 16 months out and was plateaued for couple of months! Just started this reset thing 2 weeks ago and after almost 6 months start to lose and 5,5 lb down in 10 days!

  3. It's almost 2 years from my op and and almost a year which I plateaued, I need to lose another 20-30 pounds but is really hard! Any suggestions? I already lost 75% of my excess weight but still lots of fat on my legs, hips and tummy! My total excess weight was 70-75 pounds and lost 50-55 pounds! I need motivation! I know that my water intake is not 64 0z but I am working on it and increasing it as much as possible!
  4. We've been a group of 15 people in our meeting and mostly they chose the sleeve cause had to take fewer Vitamins afterwards but me and another lady younger than me and both didn't have to lose more than 50lb, been suggested bypass over sleeve! We are both very happy of the result and process! You've been in a good hands as well! Dr Christou is a well known one with many years of experience in doing this surgery! He was doing this just privately in his clinic in last couple of years! Mine was covered with medical! And I was one of the luckiest one from the day of my Family dr. Referral to surgery didn't even take 6 months! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Was wondering because I had dr Christou and he said virtually the same thing, verbatim about why he preferred bypass. Sleeve was my backup plan. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  7. I did my Bypass in Montreal on 2015, we had an option to choose between sleeve or bypass! I asked my doctor's opinion on it and the doctor who did the surgery on me said base on my age 40, he said choose bypass! Reasons: he said sleeve is new( 7 years) and still doctors don't know in long term how the maintenance of weight loss is going to last! They are assuming that you may gain back easily with sleeve! On the other hand he said the bypass is done since 50 years ago and the doctors have a good understanding of it and is less risky! He said if I would be in my 60 s he would have suggested the sleeve cause the result is fast enough and in that age you don't really care in how many years there will be a risk to gain it back! I did the surgery for other health issues and was 209 lb before my pre surgery diet and on the surgery day was 199! It was way slower for me to lose and in 20 months I lost 42 lb! Today I weigh 157! They said that I lost over 75% of my extra weight which is really good but I still feel I need to lose another 17 lb! Which at this time after 20 months is really hard and slow! I am very happy with my choice and had no complications! Wish you luck and either way you won't regret your choice! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Too Good To Be True Peeps!

My goal is 140 too and I am at 158-159 too, how far you are in your process? I c that you are losing almost 2-3 pounds every couple of days! What are you doing? I am in my 20 months and is really getting slow! I need motivation girls Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I am in same situation as you, I started with not so high BMI and before surgery I was size 14-15 no one thought That I even need a bypass! In my opinion and also others I was lucky that I had a flat stomach! I lost total of 50 pounds from my hip and thighs and arms! Now at size 10 I feel I still have to lose on my thighs but my belly is big as hell! Is not skin its just a big tummy! Now who ever sees my belly asks if I've gained weight recently?!!! That is sad! 11. I weighted 209 the highest and bmi 37 and I felt I needed the surgery cause I was on yoyo and after my pregnancies gained a lot and was almost impossible to lose the extra weight! I tried all the different diets, exercise, different dietitians, juicing, running, diets pills and what ever you imagine, I tried and lost few pounds and regained doubles! When I decided to do the gastric bypass my Gp supported me at 100% and ive got accepted by the hospital within 6 months of my application! I am a Canadian and did it in Canada, i didn't loose as much or as fast as others loosing here but up to know which is 18 months, I lost 55 pounds and presently at 155 and still need to lose another 20lb and working really hard on it and getting there slowly! I am vey happy of my decision and enjoying my new life style and I look great and feel great! If you feel you want to do it, do it no matter what! It's your life and you are in control! Be brave and Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Weight Loss

I agree with Kimberb, my highest weight was 209 prior to pre op liquid diet and before surgery I was 199 and after my bypass which I did it 18 months ago I became 159 but totally stopped losing more! Last week I started another liquid diet and boom, I lost 4 pounds, presently at 155 and Still have to lose another 20 pounds in order to lose all my excess weight! Presently lost 75% of my excess weight! When I read other people's success story see that I lost what they've lost in just 2 months and get discouraged! I guess they had better results than me! But I read a lot of feedbacks and I realized I never took enough liquid on daily basis and now I Increased it to 48-64 oz, I start to lose little bit and that's good news for me! Thank you everyone for your efforts and input! It really helps and appreciated! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Funny part is that besides getting bad headaches I start losing big numbers of my hair again! My hair loss has almost stopped and my hair have started to regrew but this week I have chunks that comes in my hand in shower!! Any suggestions? I take all my Vitamins and Iron! 2004 my life change ♡

@ Djmohr, Thank you lady, you are awesome with these suggestions to reprogram our system! I really needed this support and I appreciate your input! I am 18 months post op and list total of 50lb and presently at 159lb but my goal is being at 130-135 lb! I stopped losing but still maintaining! Unfortunately i couldn't exercise too much as I had a foot surgery 2 months after my bypass and that prevented me to exercise and i had moderate walk but recently i dont care about the pain and i just do at least 30 minutes of exercise! I will start my 5 days liquid diet and hopefully i start losing again! Thank you ladies you are all awesome Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. Glad to find this forum and really appreciate all your feedbacks and support! Last couple of days that I found this forum, kept me busy to read most of the topics and feedbacks and really boosted my energy. I am 41 and in my 18 months post op period and started my journey at 209 lb and lost 50lb and presently at 159lb! I dropped size from 1X to 10 and wearing medium size but still what I see in my body is lots of fat specially on my hips and legs! My nutritionist says I've done very good but I think I should lose another 20 lb as I am not satisfied at all with my body right now! She said in August that I've lost 75% of my excess fat which she thinks it would be the max for me as my weight losing got very slow or non at this point! Do any of you have any suggestions for me that how I could start to lose some more weight? I do exercise but not that much! 30 minutes 3-4 day per week! I use to walk for an hour a day but she told me try to work on your muscles! I feel that I dont drink as much as most of you say 64oz, at my best maybe i drink 24 oz per day! I am on Protein but still take some carbs, max a toast in a day or half a toast and half a cup of rice and some sweets, like dark almond chocolate pieces and dry fruits and dates, sometimes a small piece of cake or pie! No juice or carbonated drink for 18 months, i dont drink with my food and dont eat soups, no potatoes, no pastas, sometimes few chips to satisfy my crunching craves! Alcohol small glass once in awhile (in 2-3 months)! Any suggestions will be appreciated as I think I am in need! I am getting so obsessed with my weight now and is kind of depressing!
