October Sleevers, how are you doing?
Just wondering how my fellow October sleevers are doing. Mine was Oct 3rd so I am just over 8 weeks out. I'm doing well and feeling really good. My only issue is that eating is a challenge. I am supposed to be on "regular foods" but find myself defaulting to soft foods all day. meat is really hard to tolerate now. I love steak and I had tried it two weeks ago and it was amazing. I tried it last night and it came back up. I am rarely hungry anymore. I kinda miss normal food in general. I have to remind myself to drink my fluids. I have been bad about that! I have been drinking coffee in the morning, because coffee is life, lol. I love going into stores and seeing what sizes fit. I started at a 20 and now am comfortable in a 14, and I have my sights set on that 12 for Chistmas My husband is flattering the hell out of me lately. Always telling me how slim I am getting. Of course he is exaggerating but I'll take it :-) How is everyone else doing? Holiday concerns? Success? HW: 240 SW: 219 CW:196

NSV shout outs
Well, when viewing my side profile my tummy is finally smaller than my chest. That is a big NSV for me since my boobs have lost 2 full cup sizes. My husband cuddles me in these cold nights and can wrap his arms actually all around me. Feels great!!

Overwhelmingly Concerned About Complications Affecting Work
@@81Kellogram Hi there! We have a few things in common- I am also a graphic designer and also from Texas! I had the sleeve surgery on October 3, about 8 weeks ago. I can understand your concerns. One thing we self contracting designers have in our favor is mobility. I have everything on my laptop and I back it up regularly. When I was admitted to the hospital for surgery, I brought my laptop and my work. In recovery, I was able to do LIGHT work, like emails and some correspondence, and reviewing of some designs. I let most of my regular clients know I would be out of work for a few days. I was back working pretty regularly one week later. I also work some hours in an office. I attempted to go back to that office one week post op, and could only manage a couple hours then needed to come home and grab a nap. I love having flexibility as my own boss. It really worked out in my favor during recovery. It's great your husband is also in the field so he can pinch hit for you in a squeeze. Rest assured, you are going to be fine. Just be sure and follow all your surgeon's directions and don't push it. Get the rest you will need. Your clients will still be there :-) Best of luck to you!! I look forward to hearing about your stories and success post op! Kel

Total Rant.... Watch out for the Big Girls....
@@Raymia , Just wait till next year, and how they will be eating their words. People can be soooo rude! The day I met my mother-in-law for the first time while simultaneously hugging me said, "You sure aren't a frail twig like Lisa (his ex) was." I was like...uh, thanks. Even though my journey is just beginning, I now feel better in social situations, knowing that my body is transforming and I will never be as big as they see me now. Its nice knowing, even though they don't realize it, yet.

I am thankful for...
I'm thankful for my incredible husband. So much to say but not enough room. Thankful that I'm spending this holiday with my beautiful daughter! In the shower today I was able to see my 'lady bits' without forcibly pushing my tummy in with my hands. lol. I'm even thankful for the excess skin now on my inner thighs. Shows I'm losing the fat there!

Meeting someone new before surgery
I really think it depends on how well you really know him. Personally I would wait till you were more than 'kinda sorta' dating. I'd want to be sure that there was a true solid relationship forming. I'm sure it would be nice to have a support person who cares about you help you through the journey. Can you trust him? Have you told others about the surgery?

Thanksgiving..
Well I have zero appetite for three days now, so won't be eating really. I have to master the art of arranging food on my plate as to not look weird on mixed company!

7 weeks out and traveling, no appetite, can't eat a thing!
Happy early Thanksgiving all. I am traveling, got in Monday and am staying in a hotel all week. I have not been able to eat anything except yogurt (a little) since I left home. I've tried everything and nothing is going down without pain and immediate fullness. Also, I have had zero appetite for three days. I have had maybe 400 calories total since Monday. Could it be travel stress? I'm getting a lot of stomach spasms. Tomorrow (Thanksgiving) I will be in mixed company, most of who don't know I've had surgery. Should be interesting, especially not being able to eat at all.

The sleeve is like a backpack..
She did! It helps so that when I'm visiting with her she understands why I won't want a cookie...or three

The sleeve is like a backpack..
I was trying to describe what having the sleeve is like, when it comes to eating to my mom. She is curious as to what its like, eating choices, etc. I thought the best way to describe it to someone who hasn't experienced it is like this: Say you are headed off on a month long voyage. You only have a small backpack, no suitcases. What would you pack? You'd pack the smallest, most efficient items you could that would be the most helpful along your journey. You would naturally skip the extra stuff that your large suitcases would have allowed. Your choices as to what you pack into you little backpack would be based on usefulness. This is what my sleeve feels like. When I am choosing food, I'm leaving behind the filler. Just no room in my little backpack.

Nuts
I just bought some mixed nuts today. I love nuts. I plan on having then sparingly and only if I am low in calories for the day.
