I wanna tell my story!
So I am a 31 year old woman from Texas who has been overweight since day 1. I came from a family of large people and diabetics. My mother is the only one who was thin in the family and boy did she hate me. I was raised by my grandmother who did what she could on limited income. food for us was usually fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, or some other unhealthy concoction. Not to mention sweets everywhere! And the woman was a diabetic. My mother would berate me for my weight and at the same time never encourage me to do sports and would always give me treats as rewards for good behavior, grades or because I was sad. By the time I hit middle school I was probably in the 170 range and high school I tipped it at 220. I was a little active in the marching band, but, poor food still. Now don't get me wrong, I struggled with body image but by the time I had three failed diet/exercise routines I was 27 and I began to actually accept that I was bigger. I loved my body for what it was and continued to try and walk or do light weight stuff when I could until I got very bad anxiety. I ballooned from 250 to 300 on my wedding day (May the 4th 2015) in that time period. I was still happy with myself until my periods quit coming. I got a new PCP who I love. She didn't point to weight for my non weight related problems like I'd had in the past. (For real I had a doctor tell me I got a sinus infection cause I was over weight. ). She worked with me for 4 months before bringing up surgery to help me lose weight to get my fertility back. So, after allllllllllll of that I got sleeved on 9/14 of this year, just in time for Rosh Hashanah. I know I'm still feeling a bit under but I have faith by at the best, Passover, I'll be feeling great. Shanah Tovah indeed! So that's my story. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

Why does the lapband fail
I can't speak for you, but I know with the two people I know who had it, it didn't help curb their self control. Example : Father in law would eat melted ice cream cause it went thru the band no problem. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

First Consult! Husband jumping the supportive ship...
My husband did a lot of research on his own and asked me to wait 6 months before I made a decision. (I can be a bit rash sometimes. ) HE was mostly worried because his dad had gotten the band and it didn't work well for him. And my grandfather (Another band) had tons of problems. But he watched all my doctors stuff and attended the meetings with me and went to pre op and agreed this was the best course for us to start family planning. I suggest maybe watching some materials with him and showing that the pros out way the cons by a lot. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

Cheated on my pre-op
I cheated about 10 days prior to mine too. I had fajita veggies and guacamole. I Had just come off a stressful weekend of being made a department head of something that was decidedly not my job. I snapped. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

Constipation
Okay time to be gross. I've had a couple small bowel movements since the surgery on 9/14. But as of today it's been 6 days with only tiny little bits coming out. I have tried milk of magnesia, a glycerin suppository, miralax and a mineral oil enema. My last resort before going to the ER (I'm hesitant because I work there and I don't want my friends pulling poop out of me) is to get some magnesium citrate and some gloves. Do we think this will help? I'm going insane. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

Taste buds change?
I'm 2 weeks post op and my taste buds have definitely changed. smoothies, yogurts and puddings I liked before are disgusting. I'm also not fond of sweeter things anymore except sugar free cherry Popsicles Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

Supplements
My surgeon just told me when I finish the Bariatric Advantage I bought to switch over to Patches. They tested a patient who had started using them and her blood work was perfect. I wish they had a Protein one. I'd be set. ???? Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

I'm a mess!
So after having some mush today (pureed salmon with dill and refried Beans with some salsa and avocado) I can definitely say that I can see this being a turn around for me. So glad I got to move on today. Hopefully I can start cooking again and being creative Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

I'm a mess!
I've been doing pretty miserable but I just had my 2 week post op and got cleared for mushies. So hopefully another few days and I'll be feeling great. I'm just tired and they think it's due to lack of Protein. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

I'm a mess!
Surgery was 9/14 for my sleeve. Everything has went okay except for Protein and meeting 64 oz of Water a day but surgeons office said to just keep trying as best I can and that I'll get there. My problem is I'm just a depressed mess. I have a history of depression and anxiety and have crushable/disolvable pills but nothing is helping. I'm having momentary regret. I'm aware this will be worth it in the end but right now I just want it over. I can't stop crying at random times. I miss intimacy with my husband. I miss food. I miss coffee. I just need some encouragement please that this will be done soon and I will be back to a better life than I had before. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App
