Blue Cross/Blue Shield
I would do a search for BCBS. There are plenty of stories. I have medical managed by BCBS and was denied several times before I was approved. My requirements were 6 months supervised diet, EGD, at least 2 NUT visits, cardiac and psych clearance. 40 BMI - no comorbidities req 35-40 BMI - comorbidities req >35 BMI - not covered Those are the Medical BCBS reqs. Yours might be different HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16

First goal accomplished!
My first weightloss goal has been accomplished! I am 17 days post op and I have officially lost 10% of my weight (actually its 11.5%) since the start of the preop diet. That is 39.4 for those who hate math. Next goal 15% (57.7lbs) by my one month surgeversery. Thats 18.3lbs in 15 days. I think I can do it. Mini goal - 45lbs by my 1st wedding anniversery on 10/31. Water is disgusting
Taste buds are weird after surgery. Things i loved before, like a sugar free iced tea from walmart or Jello chocolate mousse cups, taste horrible or barely tolerable now. Most fake sugars i cant stand anymore. Try diluted juice, crystal light or Powerade zero/gatorade g2. Any of the add a squeeze brands too. Sometimes just a slight flavor helps get it down. Graduated to soft food! What I had today..
I had "shrimp alfredo". I finely grated zucchini (3oz) , pureed the tiny salad shrimp (3oz) and sauted until zucchini was mush. Added 1oz cream cheese, half an oz of grated parmesan and a couple of pinches of salt, garlic and onion powder. Made two servings. Even my junk foodie non sleeved husband thought it was good. Gas Removal at Surgery
Not everyone has issues with gas, or some surgeons use less or remove more. I had no issues with gas pain and barely any connected to the surgery. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16

What were your worst symptoms post-op?
I an two weeks post op and have had no real side effects. Day 3, prior to discharge, i had a real bad case of nausea but that was pretty much it. No gas pains or vomiting. My incisions are healing well. Some foods dont taste good anymore but i have tolerated everything i have eaten. Some diarrhea but i have had cronic diarrhea since my gallbladder removal 23 years ago, so not likely a WLS issue. Its actually gotten a little better. I have had issues with a pressure in my chest that the dr staff attributed to acid. It has since gone away. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16

Does anybody elses scale mess with them?
I swear my scale has a sick sense of humor. Today's weight loss would put me over into my first 10%, so I was super excited to weigh. But my scale gave me three different weights 2x each. 347.4 (gain of 0.6), 346.8 (even) and 345. The first 345 blinked and shut off so I did it again and came back the higher number and I was thinking WTF, so I weighed again and its the mid mumber. I try a couple of more time trying to get the same number twice in a row... no go. I give up. My scale is a jerk. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16

Just curious...
Im not sure if this is the full answer but one of the vets here said juice is very acidic. Acid on acid can intencify tummy issues. Also juice is very high in calories and carbs. I was given diluted juice as an option because some people (me included) have a hard time with plain Water after surgery. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16

Hit goal at 6 months...now what? :/
And I believe you can get to any weight you want. Just follow your plan. Like I said above, my personal goal started at 185. That seemed IMPOSSIBLE at first. Like you, I would have been happier had I lost even less that that. My thought was anything under 225 would be great. I'm at 165 and still losing. Albeit not nearly as fast, but I am still losing 2 lbs a week. I feel I could get to the 150s even 140s if I wanted to. The surgery is an amazingly effective tool. How tall are you? BCBS denied first submission
I wouldnt stress too much. I have BCBS and they denied me twice. I recommend the following to anyone who is denied. Write a letter describing all of the medical issues that are connected to your weight. Write about how they effect your quality of life. Write about family histories of medical issues related to weight. Describe some of your recent attempts (preband for you) at dieting and how they went. Write about the success (weightloss) and failures (port probs, pain etc) of your band. Write about how the revision will help you meet your goals. I am sure the insurance company reps are told to deny the first time on whatever slim issue they can find. They are hoping you will take no for an answer. They also only see your chart. By writing, you show them who you are, why you need this and that you are noting going to take no for an answer. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16

Hit goal at 6 months...now what? :/
Info on your meal plans and exercise regimine would be greatly appreciated. My goal is 200lbs off, setting me at 185. Anything under 195 woukd work for me. I was thinking that 100lbs in a year would be a realistic goal, and i am 1/3 of the way there 2 weeks post op, but i would love to hit goal in the first year. Tips and tricks would be a locely gift! Mother had successful WLS but talking me OUT of mine
That was her issues. Yours could be completely different or be none at all. It varies from person to person. I have been lucky with no problems at all. I have taken no pain pills since leaving the hospital , had no issues with gas , and I've had no problems with not tolerating a food. I am 2 weeks post-op and have lost 38.2 pounds , 25 on the pre op diet and 13.2 post op. There is every chance that you could be more like me and less like your mother. If you think this is a good option for you and that you can use the tool appropriately I would go forward no matter what she says. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16

Doctors Discussing Weight Loss With Patients
They're not saying that doctors shouldn't tell you you're overweight and they need to lose weight. They're saying that telling you you need to lose weight without giving you the proper tools on how to do anything about it is a negative. If I tell you to go cook a fancy dinner but don't tell you where to buy the ingredients for what recipe do you use you're just going to get frustrated and upset. The request and advice to lose weight it should be accompanied by solid information, or a specific treatment plan so that the patient doesn't feel discouraged. Weight loss is hard if you don't have the tools or the knowledge to do it. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16

Did anyone else have an easy recovery? I'm getting downright paranoid....
I also have had no problems. I am 10 days post-op. I don't always get my Protein or my Fluid in but that's more because of me not doing it (getting distracted) rather than an incapacity. I had no issues with gas pains. My main problem has been a little bit of chest pressure from acid and the occasional nausea. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16
