  1. Hi guys, Just wondered if there are any UK sleevers pre or post-op on here? My surgery is scheduled for 2nd November 2016 and I'm on my pre op diet (and starving lol). I'm having my surgery at the Cobham Clinic in the Luton and Dunstable Hospital, with Dr Whitelaw. I wondered if there was anyone local to chat with? It gets better!

Hi guys, I just wanted to post and reassure anyone who is coming up to their surgery date, or has had the surgery and is on day 1 or 2 post op, that it absolutely gets better with every day that passes. I had my gastric sleeve surgery on weds 2nd November 2016 and honestly I thought I had made such a huge mistake. I was nauseous constantly, my stomach and insides ached and felt like they'd been through a blender and I was exhausted beyond belief , but today (day 4 post op) I feel a million times better! Obviously I'm still recovering and i have a long way to go, but my goodness I feel so much more settled and I'm in no pain, the swelling around my main incision site is starting to go down, and I just feel so much better in my mind today. So I just wanted to reassure anyone who perhaps is feeling as scared as I was that I'd done something stupid to myself- it really does get better day by day. I left the hospital on Friday only able to tolerate 125ml of Protein shake/ complan every 4 hours to now where I can manage a small cup of milky tea in the morning, complan or Protein shake for Breakfast (125 ml), a ramekin of clear Soup and half a sugar free jelly for lunch, a mid afternoon snack of sugar free custard and then soup again for dinner, and all day I sip sugar free squash. It doesn't sound very much but on day 2 I couldn't even manage a sip of Water or juice or anything at all and was kept on an IV in hospital, so it feels like I'm really turning the corner! The only thing that I hate is the taste if the drugs they give you when you leave the hospital! Why do they make oral dissolvable drugs taste Soooo bad!! Lol! I hope everyone gets on well and I look forward to reading your posts to see how you're all doing and to get some hints and tips Jem x Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App

    Pre-Surgery Questions

Hi! I would recommend you take some thick socks or slippers with you because for some reason I was freezing cold after my op! I am only 4 days post op, so I can only give limited advice because I'm at the start of the journey as well, but I would say the first 2 days were awful for me, I felt terrible. But by day 3 I improved and now on day 4 I feel so much better so just take it easy and listen to your body. If u feel tired like I did just sleep, don't push yourself. I have been sleeping propped up with plenty of pillows being my head and shoulders is a reclined position as my stomach doesn't like being laid down flat for some reason, when I lay flat I bring up a load of slimey saliva which is very strange! Wishing you the very best of luck and I look forward to seeing how you're doing post surgery! X Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App

    November sleevers?

How you doing ? Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App Hi, so I did it! I'll be honest, the first few days have been rough, the nausea has been terrible. I was released from hospital yesterday evening and have managed to get down small amounts of sugar free jelly and banana slim fast. Water is a big no-no at the moment, it makes me feel so sick. But I am starting to feel a bit better and managed a shower today so I'm improving. I just can't get much liquids in without retching hard so I'm taking it easy and I'm going to just add a little sip extra every time x Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App

    Any UK sleevers?

Wow, so you are both ahead of me! Do you still feel it was the right decision for you? I really wanted to ask if your actual stomach hurts? Like the staple line where the stomach was removed? Is that painful? X Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App
  8. Hi Slamdunk! I live in North London, and am scheduled for surgery on 2nd November 2016. How are you getting in with the liver shrinking diet? Are u liquids only? I'm struggling tbh, and I'm only on day 3! It's not the liquids that bothers me it's the constant rumbling hunger! Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App

    OMG IM STARVING.

Hi guys, my surgery is scheduled for 2nd November and I'm currently on a 2 week pre op diet and I'm also finding it really difficult! I'm allowed 4 pints of semi skimmed milk per day, but I can substitute one pint of milk with one slim fast shake. I'm on day 3 and I'm so hungry! Plus (sorry if tmi) every time I drink my milk I urgently need the bathroom So my body feels completely empty! 11 days to go, and I'm going to stay strong and get it done, especially after reading PorkChopExpress post.
