  1. Hi Everyone, How did all the Biactric beauties go in their first week post op? I got home yesterday and was happy to be home Please tell of your stories so i can see if we experienced something similar. I went in for the RnY but i came out with the Omega loop bypass. At first i freeked out bc after researching in my hospital bed it was commonly called the mini bypass and i thought instantly oh no less weight loss!!! My doctor assured me that the weight loss for both RnY and Omega are essentially the same and that he can not ell weather a patient has had one or the other until he checks their files so im ok with this. He has also said there is less chance of bowl obstruction or twists but a slightly higher chance of reflux but worse case scenario he can do a very minor surgery to correct this. Also dumping is less apparent with the Omega loop im glad about that and i did not need a band to support my pouch and my pouch is a bit longer and has enough resistance alone without the band. All in all im ok with it. Coming out of surgery in recovery was very bumpy for me and i wanted pain killers STAT. After that was sorted my pain leveled out quite quickly and althought they were giving me that oral morphine pill i felt that Panadol or Tylenol was enough as the hillbilly heroin was making me feel very sick and head floaty (im not sure how ppl become addicted to these pills they make me feel yuck). So im on day 4 evening now and im basically pain free but feeling nauseous wen i eat and i am very very tired often. I think im doing ok but i am very aware of every feeling that happens to me. I am getting over a liter of fluids in per day and seem to be reaching my 60g of Protein ok with the powder supplements and the Optifastshakes. Im very interested to hear how everyone else went Nin

    Seriously?

Wow, Shelterdog64 seems to me that you want to control everyones journey for them which is clearly your issue. food is an addiction like any addiction and not everyone will march to the same beat or "your" beat. Allow ppl the chance to makes these mistakes and not all of a sudden have this super healthy attitude to eating and this amazing outlook on life just because they have decided to have WLS. For some ppl it is a last resort and you are right some do not approach it with a clear mind or a logical mindset. You will find a diverse set of folks meeting here from all walks of life with different IQ levels. It would be nice if you maybe avoided spending an hour reading these posts that you say upset you and go for a walk maybe. Allow these people to go on "their" journey and find "their" own way and focus more on accepting that they might have their own set of struggles. Have a stress free day
  5. Hi, I hope you are all happy and well <3 Im 3 weeks post op tomorrow still on puree'd food only and prot shakes. Incisions all but healed with a tiny pinching burning feeling next to my lowest incision when i bend down only and its not too bad so i think just healing. Ive dropped 7kilos (16lbs) in the first 2 weeks but nothing in the 3rd week am i expecting too much? maybe. Anyone else like to share their numbers as i feel like need to know if others are similar. Also i slept ALOT over the last 3 weeks, my body seemed to want 8-10hours of sleep per day but i have managed to fit walking in also, now back at work so illl be moving more. Ty Nin
  6. Thank you all so much for your honesty and willingness to reply. Im worried that it is not happening as fast as i thought or that its not working for me. I am sticking to the plan and trying to be positive. Has anyone else noticed that they are a bit emotional after surgery, i definitely have and seem to be tearing up at the smallest of things. I did read that it can be a anesthetic side effect. Trying to be patient. Nin xx

    Newbie with questions :)

HI Im 13 days post op for MGB and i can answer any questions about my experience that you want, just ask. Im not having any problems really just healing and trying to fit in all the Protein in manageable size meals. Learning not to drink m y prot shakes too fast and only having half at a time as it made me dump which was an experience in itself Nin
  8. Hi, Just wondering if anyone wanted to buddie up with me who in close to or on the 11th Oct? I thought it might be nice to be excited with or commiserate with someone going through similar things the ups and the downs? Hit me up if you would like to chat thru this experience
  9. Hi Bariatric Buddies, So im on day 5 and today i slept till 10am i have been very tired and my sleep was broken again and slightly restless. I got up and washed my face and made a Optifast shake and sat down to check forums. I think i drank it too fast although it didn't feel like it but i do remember thinking "wow i have no issues drinking fluids at all they go down very easy" and about 15-30mins later i started to feel queasy and like maybe i had to pass a motion so i went to the toilet and sat there while waves of discomfort came over me and i felt very hot, sick, confused and foggy in the head. It was a horrible feeling that lasted for about 20 mins or more and i felt weak had to get a chair bought in to lean over the back so i could relax and breath through it. Finally i had a lose bowel movement and then i felt better but very weak and shaky. I laid down having sips of Water till i felt better then got on with my day with no more bad feelings. It was the most horrible thing to go through and ill never drink a shake fast ever again!!! Other than the above event i am feeling fine and positive that each event is a learning opportunity for me and i got on the scales and they are heading in the opposite direction which makes me quietly optimistic I hope everyone is well <3 Nin
  10. HI, I am glad you are doing well Today i woke up and made myself a Optifast shake with a scoop of Protein Powder and i think i drank it too fast because..... oh my gosh i started feeling queasy and then i felt like i had to go to the bathroom because of pains in my intestines and then waves of heat and clammy sensation and just a feeling of hell came over me for about 20mins. I then got a bowel movement (sorry) and i felt like everything went thru me and i was left weak and had to lay down for an hour. I think maybe this is dumping??? I am not 100% but it is the closest thing i have had to what you experienced. I so do not want to have to go through that many times at all. Nin

    No longer answering these questions:

Hi all, I feel like the vets are frustrated but maybe need to go back to the days pre surgery and post surgery, some of us are ultra prepared and others seemingly go in blind which seems crazy tome but i am not them so i will not judge harshly. Ill just say gee i would not have done that. Maybe if the vets are all getting so pissy about the repeat posts they should just stop reading them all and maybe take a break from them as i do not think whining and berating people will stop them from being "unprepared, not thoughtful in their questions, ill prepared" ect. i feel like this is a journey for ALL of us and this is a place to talk freely and ask questions (as stupid as theymay seem to others) this place is a virtual meeting house for a diverse group of humans that will come from all walks of life and all IQ levels. These are my thoughts as i enter day 5 post op and as i sit here thankful for the help vets and newbies have offered me on this forum. I hope you all have a wonderful stress free day <3 Nin

  16. 6 days till surgery!!

  17. So....Hi Surgery is in 23 days, im nervous and excited mainly nervous. I am ex band which was removed 2 months ago and have gained 4 kilos but am currently on pre surgery eating plan using Optifast shakes twice a day and Protein and green veg at night for dinner (plain yog, green salad and low fat cottage cheese) as Snacks. I am finding it doable but hard to focus and feeling very emotional. I have some worries and thoughts pre surgery and although i know everyone has their own journey and no two are exactly alike i still would like anyone if they can to field some questions please. *pain after surgery from day 1 to 2 weeks out? (i had very little pain with insert and removal of band keyhole) *how hard is it really to drink and what makes it so hard (the feeling that makes it hard i.e too full?) *how hard is it to take pills if you have to? *when transitioning through each food stage which foods will cause this dreaded dumping? *once you have lost weight to your goal and even heading up to it can you ever eat treats or the food you used to like in small quantities? Ok so this is all i have for now, for some reason i found joining and talking so openly about this a bit daunting. Im not sure why but i feel like getting this surgery is a bit like a dirty secret, hopefully this will change. Nin (feeling a bit emotional)
  18. I love vegges if i cant have carbs lol which i cant now so im ok but they dont keep you full for long. Im also ex band mine went in 22/11/2008 and i lost 35kilo about 75lbs but then but some back and found my way around it with saucy stuff and alcohol relaxed it. I had it removed 2 months ago and the day after it was removed realised a hunger that i had not felt for all of those years. So hungry all the time so it was working but i was not working with it obviously. The band stopped me eating fibrous things like salads and i do love salads so i would choose sauce meals which had more calories bc these went down easy. So did ice cream and chocolate.....so gastric bypass just seems like the viable next step. i dont blame the band wholly i take half the blame for it not working well for me
  19. Im 4 days into this pre op diet, first day i felt like my throat had been cut i was SO hungry. Now im eating my Snacks and eating more salad and green stirfry veges to fill the void and drinking lots of black tea with slices of lemon. Im hungry still and jealous of everyone eating around me but i know i have to keep my eye on the goal and just put my head down and rush to the surgery day. I have found that i am unfocused since the VLC diet and quite emotional. i have a serve of chicken or fish at night and i eat 1/2 cup weight watchers low fat cottage cheese and 1/2 cup plain greek style low fat yog (i crush a sweetner tab and sprinkle on it to make it taste better).
  20. Oct 11th for me, Already on pre op diet they say anything over 50BMI they get to to start 4 weeks before to give you a good chance of dropping some weight. Im on 2 shakes a day plus chicken or fish and green veg for dinner oh and plain yog, low fat cottage cheese or skim milk as a snack. Im nervous but want surgery day to just be over, excited to begin the journey where people notice me for more than just a big girl.
