  5. In a heartbeat. I was sleeved on 9/19/16 and, aside from marrying my husband, this is the best decision I've ever made in my life. The difference I feel physically (and mentally) with my current weight loss since surgery has been amazing. I was fortunate that my surgery went well, and I had no pain no complications, and was up walking around as soon as they moved me up to my room from recovery. I am on week 2 out of 3 for pureed foods, i'm following my doc's orders, and exercising and trying to make sure I get AT LEAST 64 oz of Water per day. Days I slack off on my fluids, I notice it on the scale, seems like I'll either lose nothing, or just a few ounces so I really do believe that for me, drinking my liquids is the key. I don't cheat on my food intake and just stick with the plan I was given. Had my first post-op follow up visit on 10/10 and was told I should moving forward start seeing an AVERAGE of 1 - 2 lbs weight loss per week, that I may see myself losing 6 lbs one week, and very little the next but if I average out to that around 2 lbs a week all is well, and if I don't see that happening, I need to give the office a call and make an appointment earlier than my next one scheduled in January. when I was down 20 lbs from the day I left the hospital after my surgery, my husband gave me a comparison as to how much weight that equates to in "real life" - in other words, i'd been carrying around the weight equivalent of a car tire with me every day. That really helped me put it into perspective I find my biggest difficulty right now is getting in enough calories: the Protein isn't an issue it's reaching the "500 - 800" calories a day i'm supposed to be taking in. Good luck to you in whatever decision you make!

  14. The day I've been waiting for since my surgery has finally arrived! Week 3 post-op and allowed to start pureed foods! How I have been looking forward to a bit of scrambled egg whites with a bit of cheese and some refried beans!!! Lovingly prepared on my stove, I could not wait to have a taste of real, actual food! No more chicken broth or Water for me!!!! Sadly, guess my new tummy isn't quite ready. 2 tiny bites over about 10 minutes and my stomach is like "Nope!" Not sick, but feeling queasy. Maybe today for dinner I'll have some baby food sweet potatoes instead! :-) All part of the journey, my friends!!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using the BariatricPal App

  16. :-) I had a sleeve done on 9/19, was so very nervous at my last pre-op visit with my surgeon. He put my mind at ease, stating it was my first surgery, but lucky for me, not *his* first. Actually that light-hearted approach really helped me put things into perspective and I was able to move past the fear and focus on the positives you'll do great!!!! 21. One of the women who works for my surgeon's office told me that some patients have gone so far as to jump thru all the hoops, attend the required group meetings, testing and everything else, only to back out at last minute for one reason or another, then come back later, have to start the process from square one, and inevitably tell her that they wish they'd done it the first time. Ultimately, you need to ask yourself what is truly best for you; make a pros/cons list if that helps you. My fears were surgery itself (I'd never had any in my 47 years), & the thought of never being able to eat the foods I liked again ( my husband used to be a chef, we love the TASTE of great food!) But I learned that eventually, I'll still be able to enjoy the taste of those foods, just that I will now be doing just that: tasting it, focusing on my Proteins & healthier choices for me and my family. I have co-morbidities slowly advancing me to an early grave, and I used to be such a healthy, active person who truly enjoyed life and the outdoors; hiking, white Water rafting, x country skiing, etc. & I lost sight of that girl about 5 -6 years ago and I want her back. I finally realized that getting my VSG would be an amazing tool to help me get where I need to be. I have follow my surgeon's plan to the letter, am approaching my 2 week surgi-versary, and I feel great (despite still being on liquids til next next week). Bottom line: you have to do what's right for you. I'm sure WLS isn't for everyone. ...you have to be committed, follow the rules, get active, and keep your eye on the prize. (For me: my health & longevity, and those cute jeans in my closet that I WILL wear again someday!) I'm afraid this turned into a bit of a novella, but I am so happy with my choices, and I want to be able to share my experience with others who may be thinking whether or not this big step is right for them. Thanks for reading & have a blessed day! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using the BariatricPal App

Hi! Do you have any of the Premier Protein shakes? I've heard those can be used as a coffee creamer (I haven't done so yet; I have been off the coffee since pre-op) but it might be an option for you to consider..... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using the BariatricPal App
  25. Hi Amber, I'm in Austinburg so we are in the same neck of the woods I had my Sleeve done on Sept. 19, but at UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA. I hope you've been recovering well!
