Help with swelling after plastics!!
Thank you for your reply! I have an appointment to see him tomorrow. I have a similar Velcro binder with 3 'arms' to wrap for comfort. They also provided a body suit with zippers on both sides but it's too big and will be getting me the next size down tomorrow. I don't mind the swelling and can deal with it, but I'm just concerned about the pain in this one particular spot. The incisions are great and are causing no pain at all! Did you take anti inflammatory meds?

Help with swelling after plastics!!
Hello, I had a lower body lift with fleur de lis tummy tuck and lipo on August 15. They took off 15lbs of tissue. It's been up and down since. I had the staples removed yesterday and as of today I'm only taking Tylenol and Advil. My doctors office is sending me a third compression garment as the first one is so tight I'm in pretty much constant pain from it pressing on the swelling. And, although, second felt good, I guess didn't have enough compression. I cried this morning because I just didn't realize how long I'd feel like **** and having to be relying on other people. I have a 2.5 year old son and I just feel useless right now. Over the last 2-3 days I don't feel like anything has improved. The swelling is very painful. I did not have drains as they did some special quill stitch. Question: 1. How long till you started feeling better? 2. Did you have trouble getting the compression garments just right? 3. How did you tackle the swelling? They told me I can take Advil now, but with RYN I didn't think we could. Please help with any words of wisdom! Thanks, Erinn

Plastics today!!
Day 6 - took myself down to 1 oxy and 2 Tylenol yesterday evening and so far pain seems to be ok at this dose. This morning I was doing pretty good. Went to surgeons office today and had incisions cleaned and staples removed!! Was told my compression garment isn't tight enough and to go back to wearing the binders. Back home, had lunch, put on binders and wow pain came back hard core! So on the lazy boy and resting. They took some more pictures and I look the same except more swollen. Felt good to get the staples out though!

Hi, I'm so glad my ramblings are helpful! It's hard to say really. They took 10 from front and 5 from back.

Plastics today!!
Day 5 - rest rest and more rest! It's the best thing you can do. VON nurse coming today to inspect incisions. Sleep comes on quick and I'm so hungry today! And holy gas batman! I'm definitely moving around easier today. Can lay on couch and not have to rely solo on lazy boy. Tummy is hard and swollen, and still itchy and Benadryl is helping. Please feel free to ask any questions along the way!

Plastics today!!
Day 4 is kicking my butt! Sleep really good, but had to send my son and hubby away for the day - so I can actually rest! Attended to incisions as the itchiness was insane. Taking off the 'outer bandaid' area and exposing the steri strips will have to be my new norm. My skin was obviously getting irritated by the glue and not happy!! Plus I don't have much leakage anyway. This was this morning Just checked them now. Much better although had to see in pics Confirmed with nurse and this method is good with her! With compression garments of course! At first they hurt, but as predicted, already starting to feel good when put on. Now on to my protein shake and another nap! Whatever is there to do!! Especially when the perks make you so drowsy. Hope this is helping anyone out there!

Thank you Both. Dr Kara uses a special technique to eliminate them whenever possible!!!

Plastics today!!
Thank you. There are still ups and downs. But it is going good. I just wish this one spot would stop hurting so much. It must be an internal stitch or something, but oh my goodness it's killing me! Anyway here's another pic from today with comparison to Tuesday. I never took naked pics when I was 292. Tuesday is was 197 and today 193.

Plastics today!!
OK, so another update. My 2.5-year-old child was up at 5:45 this morning [emoji30][emoji35]. After dealing with him for an hour the pain instantly came back....one Percocet was not enough! Finally laid down at 7 AM took my two Percocets, 1 antibiotic, and one anti-inflammatory with a protein shake, had a little cry. Sleep time!

Plastics today!!
Just thought I'd make an update. It's about 2.5 days since my lower body lift. Just got up after a good chunk of sleep and feeling itchy!! All over itchy!! As it's still night I took another Percocet, but feeling like I'll only need those now when sleeping and probably just 1 instead of the 2 I was taking. I took the clinic recommendations to take your pain meds as directed every 4 hours for the first couple days to stay in front of the pain. That I think has definitely helped although I'm kinda done with being in the groggy state of mind. I've had two poops (tmi I know but very important) and didn't need anything to get things going. Ive been feeling like a need to couch, but it hurt to much to try. Just slowly was able to couch up two chucks of yellow crap from my lungs, not sure whats that all about. I think I've transitioned from lazy boy to couch with masses of pillows for support. I was able to get up and down just now pretty comfortably. So far no issues. I do have staples and will likely have those out Monday. That's all I can think of for now. Oh I did weigh myself, out of curiosity and was expecting to be up, even though they took 15lbs. I went into surgery at 197 and yesterday I was 195. Thought that was pretty good. Night night for now.

no!! I did all the research. Ohip will only cover a panniculectomy! Which is the removal of skin below belly bottom. In which you need a GP referral to a surgeon willing to work with Ohio. Most won't. Then that surgeon makes a claim to Ohip and that surgeon tells you how the billing to help you out. The one I went through was willing to pass me on a $400 payment by Ohip. And there was no way I was going to recover through all of this and not be happy. I know I needed more than a panniculectomy. Good luck to you!

Plastics Tuesday!!! OMG
Oh and it appears they took 15lbs not 10lbs. I have pics of the 4 large pieces of skin and they have weights on them. When added up 15lbs! Didn't think you'd all want to see those??

Plastics Tuesday!!! OMG
Ok here is one pic from yesterday and today. Transformations are happening before my eyes!! My butt still looks really weird, and man does this lovely tummy make my boobs the next priority.

Plastics today!!
It was supposed to be outpatient, but I couldn't arrange a ride home today, I live an hour and a half away from the hospital, so they are letting me stay over!! And no additional cost [emoji2] So glad. I think outpatient is strange for this much work.

Plastics today!!
My plastic surgery was today! I had it done by Dr. Kara in Scarborough, Ontario. He did a lower body lift with fleur de lis tummy tuck, muscle repair and lipo!! He is absolutely wonderful. So caring and was literally excited to transform me!! Surgery lasted 7 hours and he removed 10lbs of skin and fat!!! I'm doing well, haven't moved yet, so we'll see how that goes in an hour or two. Otherwise pain is good. I actually feel better then after my RNY! Anxious to get to see something, but certainly not in a rush. Very sleepy, I'll update more later

Plastics Tuesday!!! OMG
Goo to know! I would have been wearing spanks/griddle anyway!! Haha, I can deal with a little over all swelling. I'd think that is smaller then the current 'tire' of hanging skin around my middle. It's pretty bad!

Plastics Tuesday!!! OMG
Thanks for the advice! Yes I'm a bit younger (39) and I don't have any bridesmaid tasks as of yet. Also it's a small wedding. No dinner. I'm more concerned about still being swollen.

Plastics Tuesday!!! OMG
Forgot one thing. I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding 6 weeks after surgery. From people that have had this type of plastics should I be worried??

Plastics Tuesday!!! OMG
So I confirmed yesterday that I'm having a lower body lift with fleur de lis tummy tuck and lipo on Tuesday. I'm freakin out! I meet with a couple of plastic surgeons and have been doing my research. I went back to one for more information and they had a cancellation for Tuesday. At first I was like no way, Tuesday and then I thought man this might actually work better for me. I'll be full time at school this fall and would otherwise have to wait till January. Plus my husbands schedule is more flexible right now. I can't believe this is really happening! I have to get the following: - depends to help with leakage from stitches and those pad things to put on my lazy boy for protection - land yards to hold drains - rent a walker and shower chair - compression socks (they provide compression garments) - groceries so we have food over the next week Any other suggestions?? I'll be one night at hospital.
