  1. CONTRATS! I got mine last week. Drink your liquids.....follow Doctors orders and it will be all good.
  2. Yes, I am waking up hungry at 3am. So, today I bumped up the calorie intake and make some instant potatoes....1/4 c. and an extra Protein shake. Hopefully, I will sleep better. I am still a little sore too. How long did you wait for a fill? I go on Monday for a follow up. I hope I get a fill in a month. Looks like Hurricane Dolly is going to mess up my walking routine. We will get rain bands for a couple of days even though we are not in the warnings. I guess I will get on the ole stationary bike.
  3. Thanks Long......The Daily Plate is really handy. I bumped my calories up to 700 today. Maybe I will sleep better tonight. Hope you hear soon on your test.
  4. I hope all goes well today! I don't know who I heard this from but I went to The Daily Plate website and joined. It is so cool. I can keep track of my intake all day long online. I found out I was eating less than 500 calories a day...yikes....no wonder I was waking up a 3am. So, I am increasing my protein shakes today. You might want to check it out....there is no fee.
  5. Thanks Phyllser! I will go buy some tomorrow.
  6. Do any of you have trouble purping? I can't purp. Is there something I can take ? Or is this part of the healing?
  7. CONGRATS!....ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS! ......I am a newbie and I need all the help I can get....so keep checking in!
  8. Maybe you need to call your doctor. You may be lactose intolerant or something else is going on. Your doctor does not want you to be nauseated. I contacted mine when I was nauseated and they sent out a medication. I have alot of gas too and can't purp. I just took a gas-x strip and will see what that does.
  9. Good Idea!.....hee! hee!:crying:
  10. When they take you down for surgery tell them about your anxiety....they will give you something. They gave me something and I didn't even ask for it. They expect you to be anxious. Take care! I will pray for you. It will be all good.
  11. Charlene I hear you girl - When I start eating watch out just want to keep eating that band helps some - but I would say most of the work is up to me cuz I could eat slider food - but I really try and stay away from them... Food channel - fat chick's best freind - skinny's chick worse enemy... I have been watching the food channel when it first hit the air here in the desert about 17 yrs ago... I found watch it made me want to eat 24/7 so I quit watching it all the time like I use to way before I got banded - but emril - paula dean are my fav's pork fat & butter - uhm I miss it ... __________________ Yeah, ole Paula and Sandra Lee are my favs, but right now the "food network star" is one and I think next week is the final.....I am a reality junkie too. Just one more week and I will quit. I quess I will just have to go back to HGTV. Maybe I should move to the FIT channel....sure won't hurt.
  12. Charlene - Your doc says no caffeine?? I am sorry !!! I am lucky I can still have my coffee (1 or 2 cups max in the morning) & ice tea. You maybe like me - once I start eating it just fuels the desire to eat more.. Don't ask me why - but it's my addiction I guess - just like an alcoholic one drink is too much and 10 not enough - I am that way with food - I eat I am full but I still want to continue to eat and if I am busy doing stuff I don't even think about food .. Janet.........yep, my dr says no caffeine....causes hunger. I do think I have an addiction to food. I have head hunger after I eat. So far today it has been good. I started on protein shakes and pureed food. I was hungry till i pureed some tuna and it was really satisfying. I eat two ounces of pureed food one hour and the next hour I drink 8oz of water. I am definitely not hungry. I will just follow the dieticians directions and I should do okay. One thing though, I have got to give up watching the food channel. I just love watching the "food network challenge".
  13. The tea was probably a factor. I will just have to use decaf tea from now on. Yeah, the dietician gave me a list of pureed foods and then the dr's nurse told me he wanted me to stay on protein drinks for two weeks. I tried the pureed stuff ....cream of wheat, tomato soup.....I am going to make protein shakes primary and add puree in between. I just need to keep it written down!
  14. Thanks for your concern.....I woke up this morning headache free and a stuffy nose. I think it is partly due to all those drugs they give you during surgery. The other part is this crazy Texas weather.....hot and humid. Anyway, I am feeling good this morning other than being a little hungry. I am trying to follow the drs directions on the diet. I think I will be more satisfied staying on the protein shakes. This pureed food leaves you kinda hungry.
  15. I gave up iced tea. That could be it. Anyway, I just took some liquid tylenol and drank more Water. I was used to drinking 8 glasses of water and I think I only had 4. I need to be deligent about writing it all down. Hey, my diet says pureed eggs.....do you poach them then puree them?
  16. I have a question.....Is it common to get a headache a few days after banding? I have had a nagging headache on the right side of my head all day long.....not real bad, but bothersome. Did anyone have this?
  17. I don't have any tips because I am a newbie with back issues too. Props to you for sticking to the plan. Alot of people give up when the results aren't fast. It took us a long time to get here and it won't go away in a year. Hang in there! You are doing great!:scared2:
  18. I was banded on July 16th.....doing pretty good. Those of you who are waiting for surgery, it is not as bad as you have imagined. Sure there is pain, but your doctor does not want you in pain or nauseated. I took a pill for nausea that last for 48hrs, and after surgery I only needed one shot of tordol for pain. I am on day four, I have a little pain, but not worth taking liquid tylenol. I wish all of you a successful surgery and speedy recovery!
  19. I was banded too. I was given a pill before surgery that prevents nausea for forty eight hrs. Then I think I had one tordol shot and all I have now is a sore port site. Of course the gas is unconfortable, but I have been trying to walk. So we have alot to be thankful for. Now, it is two more weeks of Protein shakes and on to mushies.
  20. Thanks! I had laparoscopic, but two sites are two inches long. Yeah, the liquids are boring, but we've gone this far....can't get off the program. Take care!
  21. I am home! I had to stay overnight because he had to plow through my adhesions and the surgery took awhile. He said he almost closed me up, and cancel the surgery. He said my intestines are encased in adhesions. He definitely would have never done bypass. Anyway, he got through and now I am banded. Yea! I am on liquids and will start protein shakes this weekend. I am only sore at the port site, but I will keep walking because I know there is still gas in me. Thanks fellow bandsters for the prayers. I felt them, and I am sure the good Lord guided Dr. Garth's hands. By the way, Big Medicine is on Discovery Health tonite.
  22. Too cool! I have to be there at 9a. I figure we will all be lined up after being prepped. It will be a long day if he doesn't get to me till the early afternoon. I hope they will give me some "HAPPY JUICE". I drank the Isopure this evening and it did pick me up. I drank some Gatorade too. I have my Liquid Tylenol, chewable Pepcid, and Gax X Tabs. Oh, and some Listerine Tabs. I am good to GO! May God Bless You!
  23. Thanks, Janet, I believe in the power of prayer......and you can't get too much of it! I am excited about my new journey to health. I will talk to y'all in a couple of days.
  24. I know, it has an aftertaste. I drank the pineapple today...not too bad. The guy at GNC told me the bullets have caffeine in them, so I did not buy any.
