  3. Janet .....thanks for the pinto suggestion....my DH makes killer pintos. I will get him involved in this too. I am supposed to be on full liquids, but the dieticians list says I can have all those things as long as I puree them. I have had pureed eggbeaters, tuna, chicken and cottage cheese. Next week I don't have to puree them.
  4. Janet.....WE MISSED YOU! I think I am starting "bandster hell". I am getting hungry too often. Those shakes don't hold me! I am eating pureed food (3oz )three times a day and drinking protein shakes three times a day with water inbetween. Just venting. Got any suggestions....?????
  5. 29 Cherub 29 Jersey Boy 29 zillyanne 29 mickey123 I am saying a prayer for you this morning for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery! BeverlyDiane....glad to hear all went well. I hope you have a speedy recovery!
  6. Hey, Long, is this where all of y'all are hanging out? I miss Janet and Phyll. Where is Phyll? Don't be surprised if they put your band fill on hold. I hope you get this over with....soon!
  7. I just got back from seeing the PA after twelve days post op. I lost 12lbs since I saw them on June 28th. Most of it was from the liquid diet pre op. I told her I couldn't do five shakes a day.....that I was doing three shakes and two pureed foods. She was fine with it. I get my first fill on the 21st of next month. Can't wait. She said I would get some restriction. I guess I am entering the "bandster hell" phase. I hope I can keep it to 700 calories a day.
  8. I could tell you not to freak out, but that is normal. It is not nearly as bad as you imagine. When you get into preop tell them you are nervous...most doctors give something......Everyone's pain threshhold is different. When I came out of the surgery I only needed tordol because of adhesions they had to cut. I took tylenol a couple of times at home. I did sleep in a recliner for a week....it is a little difficult getting in and out of bed. Be sure you walk. It will help with the gas. You will do fine. I will pray for a successful surgery and recovery for you. when you are up to it , let us know how you are doing.
  9. Well, I lost that six in fluid, now I have only lost three. I started walking and I am staying around 700 calories. Last night I scrambled a half cup of eggbeaters and put them in the Majic Bullet with a teaspoon of light mayo.....it was yum. I figure it was about 100calories. Also I put 3ounces of lime yogurt in a scoop of vanilla protein with ice and water....it was yum too compared to the regular shake. Just keep doing what you are doing....your body has not yet adjusted. Your body may have gone into starvation mode and is hanging on to what is going in it. Hang it there! Don't weigh for a few days. You know the ole saying" A watched pot doesn't boil".
  10. May God Bless You this Morning.....I said a prayer for you a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. 28 splfrd 28 mamanmidwife 28 vonnegutk 28 Dalene 28 BeverlyDiane
  11. Me too.....I slept in a recliner for the first week. It is hard to sleep in a bed . I needed a pillow for coughing, but more for protection from my puppy jumping in my lap. Your right, all Drs have their on protocol. It's best to follow their orders.
  12. I had to initial the paperwork giving permission for a laparatomy, but inspite of all my adhesions he was able to do laparascopic. I did stay overnight for observations. Anyway, I couldn't urinate because of all the drugs so it was a good thing i stayed. I left in the early afternoon. My insurance paid for it. I wore a MOO MOO and it was the perfect thing to wear. Be sure and take a gown and robe. I used the robe when I walked and I walked every two hours. It helps with the gas. Then I took a gown and used it the next day. I wore my MOO MOO home. I waited almost five hours in my room before surgery, so taking something to read might be a good idea. I was told to bring my own meds and I took them the next morning. This was about the easiest surgery I have had. I had one pain shot and when I came home I think I tood Liquid Tylenol twice. You need that and Gas-x strips when you get home. I also take pepcid so I bought chewable pepcid. I hope your experience is as good as the one I had. I wish Y'all a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. You will be in my prayers.
  13. I agree. Another tip..... Gas X Strips. It really helps the bloating and gas. I was banded 7/16 and I have been taking one in the morning and one in the evening.
  14. I believe it.....but what is weird.....when I got back from barium test , they never reconneted me to the IV fluids. I did drink water all night long. Oh well, I would rather be pumped full of fluids than dehydrate.
  15. I had mine at University General on Fannin. There is another girl on the July thread that had surgery in the same hospital and was probably on the same floor. Well, we can follow each other's progress online. I gained six pounds... I guess from the fluid in surgery. I have lost that and now it is a slow go. I am staying around 700 calories.....some protein shakes and some pureed food. I just need to stay off the scale and weigh once a week. I have started walking and hope that will help.
  16. I copied it off another post then went to edit signature and pasted.

  18. Welcome! If you will go back in the thread you will find where Phyllser was talking about a POUCH TEST. It basically takes you back to eating habits when you first were banded. It will help get you back on track. I was just banded last week and I am finding the "head hunger" is a major part of my overeating.....harder than actual hunger. IF you are mentally up for it....you will succeed. YOU will get support here.
  19. Girl, don't wait to have an attack. Gallbladder surgery is similar to the lap-band....maybe a little more uncomfortable, but the recovery is fast. You will do good. He probably will go in the same holes....ask him. I will be praying for you!
  20. YEAH! I am hungry too....had surgery on the 16th. I have been drinking protein shakes and pureeing food. I find tuna pureed holds me for quite awhile. I have to stay on this diet for at least 3 weeks..yikes! I hope I can do it. I am trying to take in 600-800 calories a day. Tonight I pureed cottage cheese with a cup of sugar free jello......it was fluffy and good. I hate cottage cheese. I guess we will just have to stick it out.
  21. Good for you! I am glad you feel better. Like I said, I had to break down and eat too.....several times.
  22. Welcome Jen! and Congrats on your upcoming surgery. As you can see we have something in common.....Houston. You and I have similar weights and goals. I think you will find LBT will be a valuable tool of support. Your mom may have contributed to stress eating as raising five teenagers at one time was for me. Had I known eating would have led me to such poor health, I might have changed my ways when I was young. Bottom line, the lap-band gives us a second chance at a healthy future. I wish you a successful surgery and speedy recovery!
  23. I bought Bariatric Advantage Lemon chewable for lap banders....it tastes like a lemon sweet tart candy. You can buy them online.
  24. Well, I have some yogurt for the early morning. I don't want to crank up the majic bullet and wake up DH. I am hoping the increase of calories will help tonight.
