  1. So glad you are home . Your were in my prayers. Take it easy. I here housework is really bad after gall bladder surgery. All doctors need to tell husbands that one.....oh , and cooking too!
  2. I agree with you......some people....like my husband....really need a cpap. Sleep apnea can also keep you from losing weight. I just don't need it anymore. Wow, you have really lost alot of weight since April....that is awesome.
  3. Yeah, I have a CPAP mask and it is crap. I hardly used it and now with the weight loss ....I don't need it. Insurance pays some and I pay nine bucks a month. I am about to pack it up and send it back.
  4. Welcome! You and I have some things in common.....I have had a weight problem 37 yrs since my first child and we are the same age and size. You will get alot of good info on this thread. Come jump on the bandwagon with all of us!
  5. Long....."Be anxious for nothing....but in everything give thanks". I am just glad you haven't suffered an attack. It is all going to be okay. You are in my prayers! Let us know as soon as you can get on the computer.
  6. Janet.........YOU LOOK FABULOUS! You give all of us hope. Thanks for sharing.
  7. Me too!!! I am stuck. I got advice from Indiogirl on the thread"mentor, I am here for you". She gave me good advice and I am going to stay off the scales for three days. I am walking every morning and eating less than a 1000 calories a day. Our bodies are still adjusting. We just have to keep on keepin on.:thumbup:
  8. Thanks Janet! I just needed my mentor to get me back on track. I do plan to increase my walking. I walk at 6am because by 8am it is over 90 degrees here. I also plan on joining Curves or water aerobics. Curves is just a few blocks away and when it comes to exercise the closer ....the better. Yes, because of my past gastro problems the all protein diet is not good for me. I can start eating fruit today so that is what I will do. I WILL STAY OFF THE SCALE FOR THE NEXT THREE DAYS! Oh by the way, my daughter is being induced on friday and I will have a new grandaughter. So I will be busy.
  9. Thanks Charlene - Yes I have been watching the news you and yours are in my prayers. "Stocked up on tuna & water" LOVE IT  In the mist of a hurricane you are the best prepared bander I know - I am proud of you:thumbup: Thanks for prayers! Edouardo turned out to be a whimp. We just had blowing rain. Now, I have plenty of tuna for the week. I am frustrated with my loss. I increased my calories to 800-1000, ....I am walking 30 minutes a day, and I am drinking 8 glasses of Water a day. I lost 3lbs since last wednesday and gained back a pound. I am eating more carbs.....could that be the problem?
  10. Yes, a new journey. I am now on soft food for 4 weeks. I fell off the wagon yesterday and ate a few vanilla wafers......back on track today. I can't wait for a fill to curb my hunger. Aug 21 will be my first one. I raised my calorie intake to 800-1000 and I am walking 30 minutes a day. Best wishes to you too!
  11. HALLELUJAH! Great news! By the way, say a prayer for all of us down by the Texas Coast. The storm should be in around 1p tomorrow, but I stocked up today on packs of tuna and Water....wouldn't want to sabotage my loss!
  12. Hang in there Ellen! I gained six lbs from surgery....then lost the six plus now eight. I increased my intake from 500 to 700 and now 800-1000. I am walking 30 min a day. I am 18 days out of surgery and have lost 14lbs. It takes time.....don't get discouraged.
  13. Welcome! You will get support and info at LBT. I know about adhesions. I think my doctor took care of some of my pain too....at least temporarily. Walking is excellent for recovery.
  14. Dittos Kathy!
  15. I am on pureed, but will be on mushies next week....I will try the zuchinni... sounds like a good alternative to sphagetti.
  16. That is your port. It will be a sore for awhile. I was banded on July16th and I will get my first fill on Aug 21st.
  17. I don't know your family, but when my son told me he was getting banded I was so proud of him .....owning your obesity and doing something about it is courageous. I got banded because I saw the success of my son. Obesity runs on both sides of our families too. Everyone of my children were supportive. I told everyone because I wanted to make myself accountable. This is just how I feel about the whole thing. Your situation may be different. Just stay on your new journey and it will all work out. I am eating between 800-900 calories a day and I walk 30minutes a day. 2000 calories sounds kinda high. I am only following the advice of my dietician and getting alot of support on the Mentor thread by Indiogirl.
  18. Janet told me to cook pinto beans, drain the broth and save it...then puree the pintos and add the broth back....makes cream of bean soup. I did it with navy beans....it was awesome. I didn't have to drain the broth because the beans were cooked so long it just made soup. It is a nice change from pureed tuna and chicken.
  19. Janet, thanks for the bean soup idea. My husband made navy beans yesterday and I thought I had died and gone to heaven. He cooked them to a soup consistency. They were awesome. Got any more ideas for soft food....share.
  20. Welcome newmama29 and foxymama.....congrats on a successful surgery and weight loss. We all have started this new journey together. I wish the band had been available when I was your age. Of course there was another type of band , but it was not adjustable so when people lost their weight, they got hungry and put it back on. Anyway, your never to old or too young to change your eating habits. I am determined to be successful . My husband made navy beans today. He cooked them a long time to where they were like a soup. It was very filling. I have also found that eggbeaters with a teaspoon of light mayo pureed in a majic bullet is very filling. Those are two foods that fill me up. What fills you?...share....I need new ideas for protein.
  21. And I was feeling bad for eating too many navy Beans my DH cooked. They were awesome. I didn't even have to puree them because it was more like navy bean Soup. It doesn't hurt to have something special once in awhile. Your right, just move on! Walk an extra block. :cursing::scared2:
  22. Diane, I am going through the same thing. When I get up in the morning, I walk, then I start writing down everything that goes in my mouth. I schedule out my small meals, and my water. I eat one hour, the next hour I drink.....3-4oz of pureed food or protein shake....then 1 cup of water the next hour. I feel like a newborn.....and in a way I am.....a whole new way of eating. We can get through this till fill day. Hang in there!
  23. I am gonna up mine too. Janet gave a pinto bean soup recipe. Dh is off tomorrow and I am gonna get him to make it. It sounds yum! I will have to calculate that one.
  24. Congrats, Long, on your weight loss. I am glad you only have to wait a week for surgery. You will recover in no time. How many calories do you eat in a day? I am thinking I need to bump mine up from 700-800 to 800-900. I think my body may be in starvation mode. I thought I would lose more with less calories, but my son, who was banded a couple of years ago, said I need to eat more. What do you think?
  25. Welcome to "bandster's hell". I am going through it too. I am on pureed food and protein shakes till Aug 6th. I have been trying to keep it to 700-800 calories a day. It's tough, especially when I eat carbs....they tend to make me hungry. I think I am going to bump up my calories to 800-900 because I think I might lose better on more intake. I walk 30 minutes a day, but I might have to up that too. We just need to keep doing what we are doing till we get a fill. Hang in there!
