I'm here to help...
Oh, Apples, prayers going your way! I hope you rest and heal fast. Love ya! Well, Janet last night almost kicked my butt. DH wanted to leave while the sun was up.....weather was in the 90's. Then we went on the school track so he was moving a lot faster and I felt like I had to keep up. Anyway, I didn't get out of breath, but I did get a little dizzy. I was looking up and down wearing my bifocal sunglasses. Not good. I rested a few minutes and then was able to walk home. I am going late tonight. The humidity is 86 and weather is in high 90's so we are under a heat advisory. I walked at 6am this morning and my clothes were soaked. Let's just hope I lost a lb today. I am getting ready to go to my mother's and then on to nutrition class. I made my mother chicken enchilada, chicken salad, and DH made Navy beans. She is so excited when I bring her food. She gets tired of eating at the retirement place. Eva, you get plenty of exercise just gardening. Julie, I hope the MRI goes well. Laurak....wow, I wish I could walk five miles. One day! Lori, thanks for letting us know about Apples. Okay, I am off.... gotta go across Houston.....will check in tonight.

Checking in......went to friends house and helped her out....then exercised in her pool for about 45 min. Now, I am braving the heat after 8p and walk. I sure liked exercising in the pool. Janet, thanks for getting all of us to move our butts. Julie......you go girl! Laura....loved the pics of Nels and his friend. Looks like they were having a good time. Yeah, Lori's nugget test....I can only do about 3 of Chick Fil A, but MD's I can do 4....that included sharing them with my dog. He loves nuggets. Joyce........COOL GRANDMA! Phyl......sorry your back is giving you trouble.....I can so relate. I asked Dr Davis if I could get another epidural shot in my back and he said I would gain weight. So, Tylenol is my drug of choice. I hope you get back to normal soon. LauraK....did you do 4 miles today? Linda......I would have been PO'd big time. We have Anytime Fitness. It just opened.....no pool. Cheri.....some of my fav candy. One bite and I would have been off on a binge......glad you threw them away. Great, what kind of cut did you get? After many years I am letting my hair grow out.......kinda like a bob. I don't know what they call it now. I am out of the loop when it comes to hair styles. For years I have had my hair cut over my ears.......always told them a "Blow and Go". Remember the "wedge" like Dorothy Hamil? I wore my hair like that in the 80's. I loved that cut.

Good morning gang! I didn't win at Bunco last night, but we had a great time. The humidity is 87% today.....I still walked 2 miles, and I am soaking in sweat. EW! Actually, it feels good in that heat. Well, I am off to help my friend with hip replacement. I am making her chicken salad. She is doing so good she gets off the walker tomorrow and on to a cane. Apples, I hope today is less stressful. Do you do the dental thing tomorrow? HUGS! Gwen, keep you BP monitored. I haven't ever been able to get off meds. I think it is one of the things that lowers my metabolism. Laura, love you family pic! Eva, Argentina? Wow.....sounds exciting. My son went bird hunting there last year. He said it was awesome. Okay, coach Janet, I will check in tonight. HUGS!!!

I am checking in coach! I walked 2 miles this morning then I did 20 minutes of resistance this afternoon. I have one of those resistance chairs. I did not realize how weak my arms were until today. Now, this evening I am going to Bunco and exercise my hands rolling dice. I won $25 last month....most Buncos. This is my first night of not walking in over a week. I will check in tomorrow. Tootles!

I second that!!!!!! Melissa, you are slipping into the all or nothing mentality.....we studied that in class. Perfectionism is what got us here....lap-band. You are over half way there. Your cup is over half full.....not half empty. Start walking. It will clear your mind of negativity and set you back on your journey. HUGS!!!!!!

Oh Melissa, I am sorry you are so down. I can so relate to how you feel. I was there for months.......and there are days I still feel discouraged. I just know walking has helped me more than anything. Start small. Jump in on the challenge Janet has started. Janet's menu has helped me too. HUGS for you today!

Janet, Yep, I went to church at 9:30a, but we walked at 6am. The humidity is down to 45% and it is so nice. We(dh) plan on walking at 8p tonight. I think it is going to be 101 today. It feels like your neck of the woods. lol. I got on this thread when Andrew was 16.....I guess in my mind he is still young. You are a champ! My baby boy is moving in next week. lol. He told me yesterday to stock up on groceries and coffee cuz "baby boy" is moving home. He is 36, but he is my baby boy. I hope he only stays a couple of months. Meanwhile, DD, the oldest one, leased her house because she can't afford the note, but doesn't have a place yet. Sorry, the guest room is taken. She will have to fight bubba for it. lol While cleaning closets I found a Biggest Loser stability ball kit. It is for core exercises. Yay! Just what I was looking for. Another QVC purchase. Apples, I am glad you can share with us about family. I think that is what makes us so close. Laura, sounds like Nels is the right age to introducing him to his beginnings. He is such a loving boy. You are truly blessed. Eva, boy, I wish I had your strength. You burn plenty of calories in the yard. Lori, are you home yet? How was camping? Julie? How's it going today? Linda, where are you? Laura K, woohoo! 4 miles!!!!!!!!! WTG. I am glad Janet keeps us on our toes.

Hi gang..........just checking in. Temp was 97 today, but the humidity was 55%.....yay! I kept my pedometer on all day and I did 11,208 steps......that was walking and working around the house. Janet, sorry about the drama. I think seventeen is the toughest age for a teenager and the person raising the seventeen year old. You are an awesome grandma/mother. Props to you!!!!! Phyl, thanks for the update. Yep, when they stay in bed....they rule! Charlie goes under the covers half the night next to me and half with DH. Zoey is the little Princess now! Eva, Is that flood anywhere near you? Cheri, You walked an hour......i don't think I can do that yet, but I am working on it. The heat gets to me. Apples......prayers for you and family.....thoughts too. HUGS! I hope all of you have a great evening and Sunday!

Hi gang!..Janet...checking in.......walked 1.8 mile this morning.....getting ready to go out and walk another as soon as the sun starts going down. Laura, oh, that was such a beautiful prayer. Nels is a special Gift from God given to a special couple. You are doing a great job. Lori, AMEN! I feel like Apples......I hope he isn't given any toilet paper and has Red A$$ the rest of his life......well, since he is going to go to prison .......just saying..... Linda, my only sibling is named Linda...she is 16 months older than me and about 90lbs lighter. She didn't get the fat gene. I like Beth Anne too. Sorry to say, but I don't think Linda and Arlene are names that are going to come back IN. The only other Arlene I know is Garfield the cat's girlfriend.....you know the pink cat. Or, sometimes on TV you will see a HO on Law and Order named Arlene. lol Laura K, my DD is okay today......she is just sore. Now I must have missed the post.....are you seeing an X? Gwen, when I was on the shake diet and eating 800 calories a day I was told to only walk about 20 minutes a day. Your body will go into starvation mode if you overdue on low cal intake. Take care! Cheri, glad you are having good weather. We have gone from raining to a heat wave......gonna be a 100 for the next several days. At least the humidity has gone down a little. Jessica......glad you are checking in! Julie......I hope you have a pain free weekend! Phyl......How is Zoey? Eva.....hope you get some rest this weekend! Apples.....thinking of you! Sun is down.......no excuses! See ya!

We had a fairly dry day today. The humidity was 76%. lol.....I walk at 6am and 8pm. The humidity kicks my butt! Oh, my DD tripped in a parking lot and fell. She is really scratched up, but the baby is fine. It really scared her. She is due in six weeks. I better finish that baby aphgan. Ugh! I told you I don't like to do aphgans. I have to start on a quilt for her too. My DD decided on a name.....Bethany Ann. I love it! Has your DD started thinking of names?

Grief takes on many faces. When my inlaws died within two months of each other everyone played nice. Once they were in the ground all the unresolved conflicts surfaced. My SIL and BIL have not spoken to each other in five years. I don't see that conflict ever being resolved because my inlaws created it. I pray your DH and you get through this peacefully, but if you have to kick some A$$..........God will forgive and forget. I wish I lived near by so I could help. HUGS!!!!!!

Update on my sister. She is now down to 182, wearing size 14/16; so lost 100 lbs. (she is post-op Gastric Bypass June, 2009). She is not doing ANY intentional exercise. (but does a lot around the house and says she does 10,000 "steps" a day on her pedometer). She says she is eating 1000 cal a day. (my mom said she is eating more like 2000, but is losing). She lost her Cobra health insurance and now that she is unemployed for 18 mo., also found out that b/c of her gastric bypass RNY, history of hypertension and on anti-depressants that she is UN-INSURABLE. She cannot get approved for any policy. (according to her). Has anyone tried to get individual insurance since their surgery? Curious. Laura, my son is self-employed and has hypertension, takes antidepressants, and had lap band. I think he pays 1500 a month for the family. It is probably expensive being that she is unemployed. My DH had bypass last July and he has lost 95lbs. He is walking with me in the evenings.......but he needs a trainer to help him with exercises.

Arlene, it seems to me that you've acquired more energy! Has the FM improved with the weight loss? Apples seems to think that either her diet changes or her weight loss or both helped her get rid of her symptoms. Hope the same happens for you. Cheri, I do have more energy and walking is becoming a habit. As for the FM... the IBS has not changed. Every time the weather changes my adhesions throw a fit. Now, as far as the pain in my arms and legs..... I haven't had much. I think the exercise and weight loss have helped and so has the 90+ weather. I will know when the first cold front hits this fall.

Hi gang......just checking in. I am still working on closets. Good thing I started on the guest bedroom before my DS said he was moving in for a couple of months. YIKES! He sold his home and needs time to look for another place. He travels so much. I think it will be okay. My DD finally broke up with the guy who left her and few months ago.....but came back. They parted peacefully. Now, she needs a room mate to help make payments on her house. My DS said he won't move that far away from Houston( wow, 20 miles.....please). So, he is no help to her. My DH is working in Louisiana this week so I am a fish eating fool. I hope when I weigh on Friday it pays off. Janet, props on all the exercise! Jessica, good to hear from you......congrats on nursing school. Stay on your meds. You wouldn't stop insulin shots if you were diabetic. Most of us have some kind of glitch in our bodies........Thank God for medicine! Lori, have fun on the camping trip. Is your DS changing jobs? So good to hear that DD is okay. Linda......Welcome home! You were missed. You know when I was growing up I had the flattest tummy. Since I had so many laparatomies my gut is HUGE. The walking is helping with the legs and hips, but what do I do about the belly? Jodi......have fun at Fire Island ! Julie, this cleaning thing is not the norm for me. I started with the pantry.....moved to to cabinets, drawers, two desks....now the closets. I got my closet finished, but that craft closet.......it is a beast! Quilting stash, scrapbooking, crochet books, yarn.........one more day......did I say that yesterday? Eva, I hope you can get some rest after all that work. Whew! I bet retirement looks good right about now. Laura, 3 miles......Woohoo! That is my goal.....three miles at once. I can only do two.....dang back! Cheri, I hope they find the reason for your high calcium. A lady in my life group just had thyroid surgery and her calcium went down. What is AA? Apples, said a prayer for you today. Have a great evening!

Kimaly, Me too! Fish, tuna, fish,.......but that is how I seem to lose. Oh and Eggbeaters. I am weighing on Friday this week. I hope to drop a couple of more. You see, my DH hates fish, but he is working in Louisiana this week so I am eating what I WANT! I walk every morning chanting 50 more, 50 more. My doctor says a BMI of 29 is healthy. I am into healthy. Sure looking good is a perk, but at my age healthy takes priority. Okay gang, I'll check in on Friday. HUGS! to all my Butterflies. You know it will be August soon so my July goal ends. Then I move on to my 2010 goal......50lbs!

Hi gang! We have had a lot of thunderstorms the last two days and my computer has been messed up. I have managed to get my walks in between the claps of thunder. Linda........girl, you looked gorgeous! Love the pics! Apples, I guess I missed you.......Boo! I will say a prayer for you tomorrow. You are so brave. Great,......I am glad your DH got through the trial. I know you must have been sweating bullets. Wow, Paris, Hawaii, Maine.....woohoo for you! Laura, I hope the fill kick starts your weight. Those plateaus are bummers. Gwen, I am glad everything is okay. Getting your water in is key to weight loss. Julie, thanks for the list! Janet, followed your menu today. Fish, tuna, eggbeaters....oops no veggies... just strawberries. I did have a 100cal popcorn. Yeah, Dr Davis would fuss, but I didn't have much time today. I helped my friend that had a hip replacement last week. She is doing great. Also, after cleaning the kitchen cabinets and drawers......I have moved on to closets. I did get the clothes out, but I think that it will take one more day. I just don't know what to do with all the toys. Ugh!

July Butterflies Master Thread
I thought I had posted my loss last week.....sorry. I lost 3lbs. I guess eating fish paid off. Now I am battling for the next weigh in.....probably this friday. My friend had hip replacement, and my mother needed me three days last week. Oh, gotta tell you a new dessert I made. SF white chocolate pudding.....make it up then add fresh sliced strawberries, fresh blueberries, fresh blackberries, and a sliced banana. Top with SF Cool Whip. I even sprinkled pecans on top. Butterflies......it is YUMMY!!!!

Awesome.......just gave me chills. I applaud anyone who continues to recover all those years. Sharing my life with all of you keeps me going. I count my blessings everyday that I have the best support team . Thanks for sharing about your MIL. Cheri, put your noodle up! Not yet. Oh, when Dr. Davis starts viewing my journal online I will really have to walk the line.....no more pudding! Boo! Our weight mangement class will be online next month. He even wants to see our sodium intake. Talk about accountability!

Gwen, I had a Med Gem( resting metabolism) test done a couple of weeks ago. My resting was 1130 which means if I eat over that amount I will start gaining. In order to lose I have to only eat 1100calories a day and exercise. If I don't exercise I should not eat over 800-900calories. As long as you are losing you are good. I had hit a plateau. Last year my resting was 1300calories which is a low normal. It sucks........but it is what it is and I have to deal with it.

Arlene, even though that white chocolate pudding is SF the fruit is not. You're getting a lot of carbs if you're using that much fruit. As low as your metabolism is I would think you really need to limit your carbs. Where's the protein? Do you add it to your shakes? Cheri, I made the dessert for company. I mainly eat protein, some veggies, and a fruit. I write it down. I have to count calories or I will go over.

Hi gang! Janet, I ate those toasted pecan Crisps. One serving was okay, but then I ate several servings. They are gone and I won't buy them again. Today I worked on clearing out my 22/24's and some 18-20's. I am at 16-18 now. This is my new dessert which is not on my eating plan. SF white chocolate pudding, mixed in blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, and a banana. I think it is healthy and low calories. YUMMY! Cheri, I drilled the " heaping coals" into my kids heads, but I think they forgot the message when they got older. I try to live by it. Gwen, good for you on the extra exercise. Judy, what a bummer to have the Fridge go out on a weekend. Good thing you have a warranty. Jodi, they probably want you to get your Thyroid checked. I have had low D. I am getting out in the sun now while I walk. The doctor did prescribe 50,000 units(1 pill) a week when I was low. It fixed the problem.

Hi gang! Laura so sorry you are sick with a sore throat. Yuk! It seems like you just left for Paris.......and now you are back. Please share some more pics. Julie, I love your floor. Yep, you are a country girl. Your home looks so warm and inviting. Great, Whew! You are a busy gal. Sorry DH feels stressed, but if I had to testify in a trial I would be beyond stressed. I hope after all this is over he has time to work in the yard. Phyl, looks like poor Louisiana is gonna get the storm. We are on the dry side so we won't get rain from it. Janet, I walked twice today, but I did not eat good. I fell off my plan. I am ready to face tomorrow and not look back. By the way.....don't buy toasted pecan Crisp Wheatables. They are addicting.
