  1. I think it's about 5 days now without ice cream, but I have to confess I had cookies and a couple bites of cake. I hope this isn't my new replacement. I wish I could replace it with exercise
  2. Hi Everyone You sound like a nice bunch of gals. Mind if I join in? I'm a January Bandster but of '08. I need support and motivation because my scale is stuck - maybe it's broke - who knows. Anyways, eating the right thing can be very challenging and exercise is nonexistant. Eating in general is hard with this band. I'm not complaining but chewing and taking small bites is very hard for me. I'm used to shoveling it in and when I'm hungary I eat too fast. Thanks for listening. Hope to hear from you guys.
  3. GB Your plan of action sounds great. I need some motivation. Thanks. Wow you lost so much weight in a year. Happy Banderversary. Keep up the great work
  4. Just saw this post. I'm in giong for 5 lbs this month. How do I get myname on the chart? Thanks
  5. it's great that your exercising. Now that I seem to have finfished the ice cream horror maybe I can push myself to exercise but I still have no energy.
  6. I've been really working on cutting out the ice cream and have been sucessful for about 3 days now. I find that I am eating more food at times. Most of the time a couple of bites here and a couple of bites there with no major restriction (just a hiccup or a feeling to stop) Anyway, I am giong to try to stick better to chewing so I can get more food down . then if I don't see an improvement in the pain issue I'll go in for an unfil. Thanks
  7. I jjust wanted to put out ther that Prevacid makes a soluable tablet that disolves on your tongue for acid reflux. It's prescription only. Maybe that could help someone
  8. My doctor does not use the fluro. He said "if you know what your're doing you don't need it" ha ha. It sounds like people who get the fluro get a better handle on getting to the best sweet spot possible. WEll he doesn't do them so I have to get him to do smaller fills and/or unfills as needed. Or I have to try one of the other doctors in his practice which is what I think I will do. thanks for the support
  9. Littlefrog - I t5ried the frozen applesauce and it wasn't bad. Thanks. I think this will help me for something soothing when and if the time comes again. (probably will). Today is 4 days I'm off ice cream and eating more food. I hope my energy level picks up because I'm so tired and I thought this was because of all the sugar from the icecream. WEll we'll see. Organdaisy Did you have to do a lot of exercise to get to your goal in 16 months??? I hate exercise. What about everyone else.
  10. Your right I should be drinking warm things but my chest hurts after eating and I can't get a liquid in or it will be worse. For some reason the ice cream works. But i'm working on my third day without ice cream. I really think talking to you girls on this site has helped. I made an appointment with a nutritionist for later this week and will schedule an appointment with doc following that if I can't get eating nutritious foods down. I think this will be hard because I think I'm chewing good. Anyway, Kat does TT mean what I think it is. Let me know and so much luck to you.
  11. I know what you mean about wanting to just eat something the old way and enjoy it. I loved eating and stuffing myself, but I also love tha fact that I never would have lost 80 pounds without the band. I just need to find a waY TO be more comfortable when I eat. If that means an unfill I guess I'll have to really consider that.
  12. I went to my doctor almost every 2 weeks for a fill when I felt no restriction and he accommodated me.
  13. Morning, I recently heard of a new surgical procedure done for acid reflux through the throat. My doctor in New Jersey does it. I don't know the name but I'll try to find out for you.
  14. Two Good Dogs I don't have ice cream in the house and I didn't eat any today or yesterday. I have to take one day at a time to get it out of my system. I think all the sugar also made me very tired and lethargic, maybe it's not getting enough proptein the rest of the day. it's hard for me to eat until dinner. I'm going to try freezing the protein shakes. Thanks
  15. Hey everyone, Kat I know you're right about getting an unfill but the problem is my doctor does not inidividualize them. He tends to take .50 or 1cc increments and I've asked for smaller fills or defills like .10 and he doesn't do it that way. So I'm either too tight or too lose. I want to try another doctor in the practice but feel funny to go to someone else after a year and also they might not do small increments either. And I am assertive with the doctor, believe me. Anyway, no ice cream for me today. A real hurray!!! talk to you soon.
  16. I just wanted to wish everyone a happy new year and good wishes on their anniversay. I'm working real hard to stay away from the icecream and can only take one day at a time. Today i was able to eat protein so I think that helps. Talk to you soon.
  17. kat, good luck with your fill this week. I know what you mean. I tried to get protein in with shakes and drinks but it got sickening after a while. so did the protein bars. Funny enough protein bars went down with no problem. So far today no icecream. Does anyone know about not getting enough protein does it thin your hair/ Thanks
  18. Hi Banfun4me I was interested to hear that you give yourself 30 minutes to eat a meal. It takes me much q1uicker than that. I'm usually finished after 3-4 bites and then I get hiccups and chest restriction. Sometimes I th ink I eat too fast but I do think I'm chewing till it's grindedl. I don't know. How do you work this 30 minutes for a meal?
  19. Does anyone here get small adjustments like .10cc's. My doctor only seems to do in .50 increments and I feel like I need smaller adjustments to get to my sweet spot. I'm having real trouble finding the right space.
  20. Thanks Girls I will try the frozen applesauce thing. I threw out my ice cream again. Hopefully this time, I won't buy anymore. Sandy beach if you hang in there I bet the exercising will pay off.
  21. Hi everyone, I'm so glad I found this thread. I lost 80 pounds from presurgery weight until today. 50 lbs since surgery on 1/28. I've been suffering with pain all along. I have pain in my chest when I eat so I regurgitate it. Someone said it is surgical bulemia and that's what I have too. Never been able to find "the sweet spot" . So I've taken to eating "sliders" like ice cream, creamy soups, cookies, choctoalte. they all slide down. But my weight loss is at a plateau for the last 2 months since I am eating more sliders. It started out innocent, some ice cream to soothe my esophogus after regurgitating the food up. Now the ice cream is a full blown addiction. I don't know what to do. I have not reached my goal weight and am very distressed because of what I'm doing. Does anyone have the same problems and what do you think would help me. I hate exercising and have to push myself, if I even do it. Help!!!! Thanks.
  22. Hi everyone, It sound like everyone is doing great. The weight loss numbers I've seen for 1 year are amazing. My bandiversity is 1/28/09. I've lose 80 pounds but it's hard for me to enjoy it. I've reached a plateau because of "sliders" so I have to work on this. Anyway, I know it was hard work so keep up the good work in the coming year.
  23. I started eating ice cream following regurgitatin my food when it got stuck in my chest and I had pain. I found the ice cream soothing. But now it has taken over. I'm addicted and every night I have to have it. I still don't eat much during the day and still regurgitate food. Do you think I need to have an unfill so I can eat more. The thought of this is terrifying but I've been at a plateau for 2 months and know if I stopped the ice cream I'd havae a better chance. Can anyone help? Thanks
  24. Hi everyone, I've been worse. It started out innocent, like ice cream after I had a spell of regurgitation. Now the ice cream has taken over. Can anyone help/
  25. Hey everyone, I can take down liquids with no problem. The problem is that I can feast or famine. Sometimes the restriction is so bad that I have to stop eating right away. Sometimes I can keep eating without getting full. Of course, I try to take the smjallest morsels of food on my fork when I can eat and chew chew chew. I think I might not be chewing that first bite so good or taking to big a bite because I forget about the band for a moment in my huntger and the way I'm used to eating. Anyway, I see my doctor tomorrow and hopefully he can help and figure out what's best for me, a fill or an unfill. I'll let you know. Hang in there everyone.
