  2. Thank you all, I've decided he will be staying in a nearby hotel.
  3. @@limesqueeze23 Mine is Oct. 17, I cannot wait!
  4. My bypass is now rescheduled for 10/17... So ready for this! It was originally for 8/29 but due to some medical complications found on my pre-op X-rays it had be postponed.
  5. I am concerned how much time I will need off too. My husband and I both babysit our (almost 3 month old twin grandsons at our home.... I know I cannot pick them up for at least 2-3 weeks. How much time would you recommend I take off?
  6. @@Anthony J -- Excellent news, I hope you continue to do well! We can do this!
  7. @@Anthony J -- How are you doing since your surgery?
  8. @@SharBear617 --- Thank you so much for this info. I am so grateful to be learning so much. I've been doing my research on this surgery for a very long time as I know that being educated is half of the battle going into it. I plan on being as prepared as I can possibly be. I want to be successful and be as compliant as I can be. It will only benefit me. One more question if you don't mind. Will there be a cot, or chair for my husband to sleep in or will he need to get a hotel room? Thanks again for your help.
  9. @@Cervidae thanks so much, I would appreciate all the help that I can get. I'm excited and ready to begin this next journey of my life.
  10. Wow, this is concerning to hear. Do you think the hospital is short staffed possibly? My sweet hubby with be with me at all times as we live over three hours away from the hospital. So did you not walk at all the first day? Was Dr. Weaver aware of this? Thanks for letting me know this.
  11. Thanks Jon, and congrats on your surgery and sounds like you have some great advice. I am sure I will be asking you more questions later on. I sure hope I do not have to have the tube or get the hiccups. Yikes! What I meant was to have someone be a support buddy online or to text with, not to meet up.
  12. @@lifeofblair -- That was horrible of the nurses to forget you! I would have been very upset too. But I am glad to hear that you were pleased with Dr. Wegner. I have been pleased with him also as he was very patient in answering my questions, but of course I've only met him once. I will see him again in three weeks.
  13. I'm scheduled for surgery on 8/29/16 with Dr. Wegner at St. Francis. Has anyone else used him and what are your thoughts about him and this hospital? My insurance company BCBS FEP recommended it since it is a Blue Distinction Center. I would love to hear your thoughts.
  14. Hi Everyone: I'm beyond excited to have my Gastric Bypass surgery on August 29, 2016, one month away, and I would love to have a support buddy/Mentor who is going through the same surgery or has already had it. I live in Mississippi and I'm 56... I'm looking for someone who is interested in having someone to team up with that we can help one another to give encouragement, and support to. I believe that a support system is imperative to having great success. I am ready to lose the old habits and looking forward to becoming the healthiest I can be. I am counting down the days! Please let me know if you are interested in a Buddy also.
  15. I sent one as I would love to be added to the group. Thanks,
  16. Hi Roger, I am told that each surgeon has their own pre-op diet for their patients. Also that day 1-3 are the hardest and after that it gets easier. I haven't stated mine yet, but will in a few weeks. Good luck, you can do this! Hang in there.
  17. @@lifeofblair Hi Blair, This is one of my fears that I have also. I worry if I will be able to tell the difference in my hunger after surgery as I often eat now just from boredom. In addition, I see your surgeon was Dr. Wegner, He is mine too.
  18. @@Jade99 - congrats to you. my date is Aug 29, and my liver shrink starts the 17th.... Good luck, we're going to get through this.
  19. I am following this also as I too have Standard BCBS Fep and was told by an BCBS customer service by phone, that my cost would only be $150.00 for the hospital stay and $35.00 co-pay for my surgeon and no 15%..... However I was skeptical when I was told this, I will anxiously awaiting further confirmation regarding this as my surgery is on 8/29.
  20. I'm scheduled for August 29... Super excited and a tad nervous too.
