  1. I had gastric bypass on 6/27. I had my horrible band removed 18 months ago due to complications. So far I am 14lbs down. My doctor said because I previously had the band that my weight loss would be slower than people who had not had a band. So far I'm losing 3-4 lbs per week. Slow and steady wins the race! 2. That's what I thought. I had 2oz of fresh broiled lobster Friday and did fine with it. I guess it's part of the learning experience. I live on the Texas coast and love fresh sea food. It's a good source of Protein and a little goes a long way. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. Thanks for the information. I kinda got panicky when I started vomiting as I'm only 2 weeks post op. I didn't want to cause a tear or leak. Feeling better this evening and stuck with sugar free pudding for dinner. So far so good! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. Good evening everyone. I had a bad experience today. Last night my wonderful husband broiled shrimp for us. They tasted great! I ate 3 small shrimp with no side effects. We had left over shrimp so he re-heated them for us at lunch today. Within 15 minutes of eating 2 shrimp I became very ill- stomach cramps, nausea, and vomiting. This went on for about 4 hours. I finally had to go to bed and sleep it off. Has anyone else had this happen with leftovers? The good news is I'm down 14 lbs since my bypass date of 6/27. 5. Funny you should write about this........I am a teacher, so I am very hopeful that when I return to school in August that I will have lost more than the 8lbs the I have lost since my surgery on 6/27. I KNOW that there will be talk, and that's ok. What's funny is when I woke up my doctor told me that I had a large hernia that he had to fix before he could complete my bypass! So I really can say I had hernia surgery! LOL The point is: who cares? All that matters is how you feel about yourself and your health. You are being proactive to get healthy! End of discussion!
  6. Thank you everyone for your information and support. James, I especially appreciated reading your story and the recipes! As of this morning I am down 8lbs. One of my husband's favorite sayings is, "Inch by inch, life is a cinch", so I am going just be with the 8lbs in 8 days. I also had less pain last night and slept better. I still hurt in the area where my doctor fixed a hernia that I had; but he told me that I will hurt there for a while. I see my doctor on 6/15 so hopefully he will clear me to start swimming again. I know that this will also help with the weight loss.
  7. I was lucky and did not have a drain to worry about. The pain meds have helped with sleeping and walking. I get to start soft foods (eggs, cottage cheese, oatmeal) tomorrow. Sent from my KFAPWA using the BariatricPal App
  8. Hello out there everyone! I've enjoyed reading all of the posts. The tips are great and the encouragement is priceless! Thank you and please keep sharing. Anyone else have gastric bypass on 6/27? I'm struggling with the gas/bloated feeling and pain. Anyone else have this issue? I'm walking, getting in my fluids, Protein, Vitamins and meds with no problems. Any advice? Sent from my KFAPWA using the BariatricPal App
