Has anyone who had an Achilles injury noticed improvement in daily pain after surgery?? I am hoping getting weight off will help. This winter i almost ruptured both of my Achilles tendons and have been babied it since. I have seen a foot doc and have orthotics but it is still just there. 2. I had my 1 week post op appt today. My doc said I am doing great!! The only issue I have had since coming home is an annoying headache that just keeps hanging on. He had me get some Eccedrin Tension Headache. It has Tylenol and caffeine in it. I tried the first pill whole and it just sat there. Second pill I broke in two and it went down much better. Headache seems to be getting better. I've lost 30 lbs since Juky 25th which was my consultation and 10 lbssince the surgery Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Going back to work

I was back on day 7 as well. I am 1.5 weeks out so today im finishing my first week back. My boss told me to come and go as tolerated my first week back. First two days i worked half days mainly due to headache and post op appt. you will be tired so be prepared. No lifting and walk when u can. The biggest issue i had was not remembering to sip sip sip because of being busy at work. I think the lower amount of Water helped extend my tiredness and headache. Foods for camping in cold weather?

This was one of the questions I asked my doctor at my consultation. Is there a possibility of having the surgery and being a long distance athlete. He said definitely. He has one patient that has been able to complete 100+ mile bikes and runs after having the sleeve. Figuring out what is the most nutritious food to fuel you is a must. I have a goal to become a triathlete and this discussion with him made me feel like it can happen!! Food is fuel!! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Who did you tell?

You sound exactly like me. I am new to my job, only 8 months in. My new job is what allowed me to get insurance coverage for the surgery! I told my boss when I started to have appts that I would have a surgery coming up in the near future that I will have some appts for. I did not tell him what type of surgery. He was very supportive. When knew of the surgery date I told him when and explained the time that I would need off. I had my surgery on last Tuesday and will be back to work next Tuesday. I am a manager so I chose to take a company laptop home with me so I could approve invoices, payments and time sheets. A few less things then my boss would have to deal with. I only told my sisters, obviously my husband and son, my two best friends and a cousin. I told everyone that I wanted it to be kept quiet. My husband works with a family member and I don't want to be the gossip of the break room. It will be obvious at a certain point but until then I want it to come out on my terms and I don't want my husband to have to deal with gossip at work. It's your choice and health. Do what you feel comfortable with!! I did all of my research and then some, I am 100% committed to making this a lifestyle for me and have always been active, losing the weight will make that part of my life a lot easier!! 6. Tuesday was the day for me. Doc said everything went well and I now have a nice little banana stomach. I do have to say that the drain was my biggest source of pain!! It made movement impossible without major pain. When they would "milk" it I felt like I was going to pass out. On Wednesday afternoon they started talking about releasing me but I was worried about all the pain on the drain side. My nurse said that once it is removed most if not all the pain will go away. When they took out the drain it was the most excruciating pain I have ever felt. .....possibly more than child birth. Once the devil drain was gone I had no pain other than a little pulling. While that drain was in I was definitely wondering what the heck I got myself into. At home now with the heating pad on my tummy and in the recliner for now. Been walking and sipping as much as I can. Hopefully I can get in and out of my bed soon because the recliner will get old very quickly!! Looking forward to future with my little banana Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Not eating enough

My RN coodinator told me that the range for Protein is 60-100 grams a day. She said the lower is for a smaller woman (im 5'1) and the 100 is for a man who needs more. She also told me to get out 10 3 oz dixie cups each morning and have three oz of Protein shake every hour or so and by the end of the day you would have the amount needed. I am only 3 days out from surgery and cant get all 10 in but have been gettinf about 45. Hoping to increase as i go. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Did you ever have second thoughts?

Dinks97420, let's stay in touch, I'm Tuesday also! Nervous but looking forward to it too .... Terrified of the possible nausea and pain after. Hopefully it won't be there or pass quickly! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Sounds good. I am more nervous about having major gastric issues like diarrhea and stuff like that long term that will limit what I can do. I have a pretty good pain threshold so not too worried about that!! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

All of these comments have helped me so much. I have surgery in 4 days and the doubts started to creep in last night. I am currently sitting at the hospital waiting for preop and the butterflies are everywhere in my stomach.... Ugghh! I check in at noon on tuesday. Why do they do that to us?? I wish i was in first thing in morning. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Some pre-op advice :)

Thank you. I will be sleeved in 6 days!! I have kicked the sugar to the curb. I walk about 2 miles a day purposely on top of my day to day stuff. I drink about 100 oz of Water a day an have been close to a full liquid diet since my consultation about a month ago. Lost around 20 lbs already....so ready to get this done!! Weight

If I can do it you can!!! Focus on Protein and Water and some how it works. I was averaging about 600 calories a day and never really felt like it. I think my mind was so focused on the goal that it made it easy!!! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Weight

Dinks97420, would you mind telling me exactly what you ate and when? How many Protein Shakes, when did you eat the refried beans and how much? This sounds doable to me. I would really appreciate it if you could show me a typical day on this diet I think this is answer I was looking for Sent from my SM-J700T using the BariatricPal App I made sure that I had three premier shakes a day normally half a shake every hour or so. I had a jello cup with my shake for lunch. I work 8-5 so by the time I got done at work I had all three down. For dinner I would measure out half cup of refried beans with taco sauce and a little melted cheese or I had half cup cottage cheese with lots of seasoning mixed in. My favorite are the Mrs. Dash ones. I also had lots of sugar free Popsicles on hand and would normally munch on a couple in the evening. I was really worried about restricting myself like that because in the past I would get migraines if I didn't eat enough. No problems at all. Worked great. Once I made weight I added back in one meal a day keeping it mostly meat and veggies with no carbs. Tomorrow I start my countdown to surgery diet which will be back to 100% liquid other than Greek yogurt, jello and sf Popsicles. Surgery is 8/30!! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Weight

When i needed to make weight to get the approval from insurance i went on the full liquid diet and drank at least 100oz Water a day. I drank premier Protein shakes, Jello, cottage cheese and refried Beans. Lost the 5% plus a couple extra in about two weeks. I also tried walking about 2 miles a day.
