HAVING BAND REMOVED ON WED..OCT 9TH OMG!
Jewel, I was not sure I was going to do the sleeve that is part of my long wait. My dr. had said to wait 3 months for healing, since I had so much scar tissue and then once I decided the Insurance said I had to do 60 days of supervised diet, plus PCP letter, another psych eval and of course pre-op stuff. I did lose all that weight with my band I was so happy with my results and was maintaining a healthy weight and then the nightmare began. Very long story short... I believe that after being on antibiotic for 6 months due to a bad filling from ASPEN damn dental my body rejected the band. I spent 2 weeks in the hospital while my surgeon and every other specialist tried to find something wrong with me. My surgeon insisted it was not my band but I couldn't keep anything down, not even liquid. The other doctors could not find anything wrong with me either so finally they said the band must go. I begged my Dr to just look don't take it! He wouldn't he said I am going in and it is coming out. I cried until they put me out and woke up crying. I went into a depression couldn't even talk about my band without crying. Seems kind of crazy now... but I had a feeling of a terrible loss. After talking to my Dr. he insisted that he would never band me again and that he did not recommend it and if that was my choice he would not even help me find a Dr. to do it. He felt that since I did so well and my compliance was so great that I will be successful with a sleeve. It took me time to stop being mad at him for taking my band but I know I couldn't live that way and I was not thinking clearly. I was truly sick and didn't want to face it. After that I started researching the sleeve and found this site. Then decided with the weight I was already gaining I have to do it. I did gain over 60 pounds since March but I really just always felt hungry. I felt all my control was taken with my band. I am so ready for tomorrow. Do you ever use the chat room on here. It is such a great way to start meeting others. Thanks for thinking of me tomorrow and the gals in chat will be giving updates I am sure before I feel up to chatting.

The Friday Before
So it is now 1:40 pm on Friday Oct. 4th. I am waiting on the edge of my seat for the final answer from Cigna. I have been on my pre-op diet since Monday and scheduled for my Sleeve on Monday Oct.7th first thing in the morning. I am feeling a little anxious right now, I feel like I can't fully commit to anything right now. Don't want to say surgery Monday and then it doesn't happen but do not want to be so negative by thinking it's not going to happen...UGH!!!

October roll call
I am Oct. 7th with Dr. Bass in Naples, Fl. at Physicians Regional. 2 days of pre-op diet and very hungry!! Band was removed in March not very nervous anxious and excited to start losing again!!

Starving on Pre-op
I did not have to sign a contract and I only have to do a week of liquid. Little stressed that I am doing it without the final approval from insurance but I don't want to take the chance that the approval comes and I didn't start. Ready for next Monday to be over and start the healing process.

Band Out And Waiting Anyone?
Ok so I went to the new PCP today and it went well - really liked him and he said the letter will be over to my surgeon by tomorrow...woo hoo getting there!!

Band Out And Waiting Anyone?
So many people needing to get bands out and then deal with scar tissue issues.....wow I wonder when they will stop putting them in? My Dr. and others have said they are moving away from the Band!! Tomorrow is my1st visit with a new PCP. I need him to recommend WLS as it is one of my insurance requirements. My BMI is only around 33 so I am worried that a Dr. who does not know my history won't write the letter the surgeons office needs. If he won't I will find one who will!! Wish me luck, I will post an update after my visit.

Fort Myers, FLorida or surrounding areas?
I am in Naples and had a lapband since Maech 2011 and it was removed in March of this year due to me not being able to keep anything down. I am going to be sleeve in about 60 days (hoping the end of September) Who is your Dr? Dr. Bass is mine.

Band Out And Waiting Anyone?
My band was taken out in March 2013 and I had lots of scar tissue it took hours to remove the band. My dr. had to do a peer to peer review with my insurance just to get a list of what they wanted. Before the call it was denied. Now I must do 3 nutrient visits over 60 days, letter from my PCP recommending WLS, and another pysch eval. Crazy since I had a successful banding. Lost almost 100 lbs. before getting so sick that it had to be removed. I had a dental issue that required almost 6 months on antibiotics and I believe that is what caused my body to reject the band after 2 years. No one will admit it but I will tell you I went into that surgery crying and came out crying. As sick as I was I didn't want the dr to take my band. I just don't get the pysch eval again I was sane enough 2 and half years ago and lost all that weight but I still need nutrition sessions...BS! But I will jump the hoops it wont hurt. I just want to get back to losing since I have gained over 40lbs sinch March. I would really love to hear what differences others are seeing with the sleeve vs. the band.

Insurance coverage in Florida
I am not sure what all the talk is of individual plans. The 2 plans we have are both group plans and if we purchased a plan it would be through our business.

Insurance coverage in Florida
Well my husband and I do own a small commerical cleaning business that he runs in the evenings. If my husband goes full time we will not have coverage from his employer any longer and we could look into buying a company policy, Right now we are listed as the only 2 employees. How could that work for us?

Insurance coverage in Florida
Anyone know of an insurance in Florida I can buy to get Lapband coverage. My husband and I currently are covered by 2 insurance that do not cover this. We have Cigna and BCBS of Florida. What luck huh! I am thinking of canceling both of these policies to get one that will cover what we need. We both are canidates for the band. Buying insurance has to be less then paying for 2 surgeries! Any ideas???? Kyrasma
