  1. Dear Elizabethsew, You are hysterical. I loved your gym experience and laughed all the way through. How true your words are. Good luck with your lapband. I love mine. It's the easiest dieting I've ever done and believe me I've done a lot of it. Since Feb.28 I've lost 46 lbs. without being hungry or being concerned about what I eat. It's wonderful! All you have to do is pretend you're a model since they never eat and learn to enjoy plain soup. It doesn't matter whether you like or enjoy soup since you only get 4 ounces anyhow. Best of luck! Pat
  2. Does anyone know what sliming is or slime balls? What causes them? I've heard them mentioned on this forum site. Pat
  3. Hi R Littman, A spot was found on my liver when doing the pre-opt tests and my doctor said that he was 99% sure it was benign. After several more tests his diagnosis was correct. He said that it isn't uncommon. If the doctor thinks it's nothing to worry about just have the tests and don't worry. I think you'll be okay. I think a color CAT scan was the next test and it is painless. They did a black and white but it won't show the proper results, so they redid it in color. Nothing to worry about except a hassle to have to waste time going through the tests. Pat
  4. I crush all my meds or take liquid. My doctor said that even tic tac size is too large. It's a royal pain and the meds taste awful crushed, but I do it. I also brush my teeth again immediately after taking meds to prevent long term damage to them. My dentist doesn't think the crushed or liquids will hurt my teeth, but I wanted to be sure. Pat
  5. I was banded on Feb. 28 and have had 2 fills. I've lost 40 lbs. I still can't eat much at a meal but I do get hungry within a couple of hours. I need to work on this. It may be time for my next fill. I wish I was losing a little faster. Pat
  6. Leenerbups, Where did you have the band done? My hospital isn't listed but I had surgery Feb. 28 and they've paid for that surgery plus two fills. Maybe my hospital has been approved for more than 2 years, but it isn't on that list. What state are you in? How far are you from a Medicare approved hospital? Pat
  7. Randi, Eeekkk, my hospital DeKalb Medical Center isn't on the list. Maybe they'll get approved by the time for my fill. This is unbelieveable. Thanks for the information. Pat:omg:
  8. My fills are $650 also since they're done at the hospital. Where do you get a list of the certified doctors and hospitals? I'm due a fill on July 21 and I'm on Medicare. I haven't heard a word about this yet. Pat
  9. Dancer, Thanks. I do tend to eat too fast. I'll try to slow down, but it's hard when you're hungry. Sigh! I'll let you know if this helps. Pat
  10. Julie, that must be what it is. It just takes it forever for that lump to go down. Guess I'll go back on liquids like soup and see if I can get rid of it. I measure the 4 oz. of soup to make sure I don't over eat. Pat
  11. You all helped me with the burping by explaining what I was doing wrong and how to correct it. Now I have a new problem. After I eat I feel this lump in my throat that won't go away. I don't have to burp. It's just annoying and a little painful. This has started since my second fill two weeks ago tomorrow. I can avoid it by eating 4 ounces of soup, but if I try any thing else I have it. What is it? How do I avoid it? It's like a golf ball in my throat even if I drink liquids nothing seems to ease it. Pat
  12. Nanster, I had my second fill last Friday (May 26) and I can't eat solids yet either. I'm surviving on 4 oz. tomato soup or protein shakes. Don't fret the lack of solids, just concentrate on all the weight we're losing at last. Pat
  13. Hair loss: I was banded Feb. 28, but haven't noticed much hair loss yet. I'm taking Biotin 2500 mg. daily plus a multi-vitamin. I understand the hair loss levels off at about 8 months. I don't have one strand of hair to spare so I'm hoping for a quick return to full head of hair. Pat
  14. Add me. Great idea and just what I need. Can't wait to get started in the morning. Pat
  15. Janet C: Thanks for the information. Pat
  16. Sherry, Yes, I'm banded but I haven't kept track of what gives me the gas. I think everything gives me gas, but I'll start making notes. Thanks. Pat aka Happy2
  17. Does anyone know what causes a lot of gas and how to prevent or stop it? I have gas all the time at both ends. Blush! It's driving me crazy. Also, what is a "PB"? Pat
  18. Easter I learned an interesting thing. My lunch was so good I wanted to keep eating because I loved the taste even after I knew I'd had enough. That took willpower to stop. It's the first time I've been conscience of how much I just love the taste of food. I probably should have eaten even slower and savored the taste more. I kept thinking, "No, no, I don't want to be full so soon. This is too good to stop." But I did stop. Has anyone else had this experience? Pat
  19. Hello All, I got my first fill Monday. It was for 1.7 c.c. and as of this morning I've dropped 8 pounds. I can't eat much which is wonderful. I'm never hungry. How long does this last? My doctor said that as I lose he'll add more c.c.'s. If I don't lose at least 1 to 2 lbs. weekly, then he'll add another fill. I
  20. Nanster, Thanks for all the information. Tomorrow I get the fill and will let the doctor decide how tight to make it. I appreciate you clueing me in about not insisting on too large a fill to start with. I'll let everyone know how I came out after the fill. Pat
  21. Sunta, I have my first fill Monday, April10 and I'm afraid the same thing will happen to me. After spending all this money and going through the pain, I won't faster results. I plan to tell my doctor to fill that band as tight as he can. I'll be crushed if I don't stop being hungry again. The first two weeks after surgery were heavenly with pounds dropping daily. I'll let everybody know Tuesday how I come out. Here's a question for everyone...Did you stay on liquids for 3 weeks and mushies for 3 weeks? I didn't. Now I'm worried. Pat
  22. I can drink Diet Coke without a problem. Try one. You may be able to tolerate them too. Be careful not to drink too fast though. Also be prepared to burp, but it's worth it. Pat:nervous I keep hitting the wrong key and sending half a message. Sorry folks.
