  1. Get a thermometer you will thank yourself. The unjury starter kit comes with one. As stated not good to risk anything over 140 and you get clumps or worse. I made mistake of dumping my powder in Starbucks provided hot Water while outside of house and immediately produced a chicken powder hockey puck. If you have correct temp all should mix well.
  2. @@pik did you have Maria as a nut at fair oaks? How laid out was your diet plan?
  3. I have gone back and forth on 1.5lb this week so no real change trying not to think about it and keep moving!!! Did anyone find that muscle weight gain made it challenging to see some loss? I have been focusing on work out and see loss of inches but weight is hovering at not moving.
  4. @@ShelterDog64 you need professor @@OutsideMatchInside to give you her directions for testing, formulas, etc!!
  5. Thanks to all appreciate insight!
  6. Alexandria city happy that really have had no complications other than having to go off blood thinner earlier due to mild bleeding My biggest challenge is days when I can't keep a regular schedule and food routine. Like i walk more and easily get my Water when I'm in office because it is a set place and schedule. But I have had to go out more or my weekends have been all over the place so I am trying to stay vigilant in tracking food. I do have to admit to having to eyeball a 2 oz Portion from time to time though but I think I have done well. What about you were you a tracker/weigher then or now?
  7. I like the breakstone w/live active cultures and I add like a teaspoon or less of good extra virgin olive oil.
  8. Me as well had to start ppi but had the sleeve
  9. My nut doesn't like any oatmeal or yogurts that have more than 10g sugar. For yogurt it can be hard to find Protein and low sugar unless you go Greek and I do triple zeros. I found oatmeal the same and that the think thin and some other more high end brands had similar stats. I have not had blood work yet, I can only share that carb goal and say that I have enjoyed the think thin but it does feel like a lot of calories when most of my Breakfast "meals" are less than 100 calories. But maybe that is good since I worry I am slowing with loss due to low calories.
  10. @@pik that is awesome I am about 2 1/2 months out from surgery at fair oaks. Hw 367 Sw 353 cw 314. A long ways to go. Great to hear of your success and that is a great maintenance as well!
  11. I would suggest using veg or berries with Protein powder. Not sure of your plan and fresh veg but I can add a little berry banana or veg to protein smoothie. But if you mean straight juicing I would think unless very watery with low carb veg and with some added protein probably too many calories and carbs.
  12. Thanks! I may try to make that though I am a loonnnnggg way off from plastics!
  13. I was sleeved at Fair Oaks, have not made a single support group, obviously pre-op classes were done. But, I have not been available on 3rd Monday, wondering if anyone in VA goes somewhere else.... @@DiannVolvo, Congrats on your goal weight, very inspiring!

  15. @@ssflbelle and others when did you have stalls and how did you cope? I know to measure embrace reflect but I am worried I will not lose another pound and eat less than 1000 calories a day and move and excercise! Feeling deflated today.
  16. @@goaldigger33 I live in Alexandria city @@AshburnMom should start a new nova thread? I am about 10 weeks post op
  17. Yes! But this topic is a bit buried. There is one for Maryland that has been active recently http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/369376-any-newbies-in-maryland/ I am in VA work in MD sleeved 6/16 at fair oaks. And you?
  18. My nut specifically said no baby food. Not a good high protein option and because need to find real foods that work to help transition to new way of eating.
  19. @@Elle09 @@goaldigger33 I had dr moazzez!!! June 2016. I liked him a lot. Esp like his nurse kim. The practice is very nice and professional. Pam is wonderful and walks you through insurance. Highly recommend. He is very open and approachable.
  20. All policies even with same carrier can vary. Once you are told it is approved they will likely tell you what amount you are expected to pay day of surgery. Once approved you could call your plan to be proactive and confirm. I had an employer bcbs I had no deductible so it didn't matter what I had spent so far but I had a $300 flat copay.
  21. I could maybe eat 4 oz of yogurt but my meals are 2oz and I maybe go slightly over to 2.2 or 2.3 with a berry or piece of veg from time to time.
  22. Hey MD. If anyone new or shortly post op. I have a few things I am moving on from or off. I over bought powder and have really been relying on premier ready made shakes for convenience. I have a large unopened bag of chocolate bariatric advantage brand shakes. I also have 3 items that are open not completely used 2 bottles of multi vitamin chewables (Bari advantage brand) 1 bottle almost entirely full of Bari adv calcium (I can't do these too berry and too sweet for me) and finally an unopened bottle of liquid Multi vitamin. I work in PG DM if you are interested --- completely free.
  23. I am going to use more chia. But I do put benefiber in almost every liquid I ingest.
  24. @@NewLA thank you! I will look at their sites for info. Do you like the meetings that you attend so far?
  25. Ditto. You have to mix it up. I could not do shakes for a week or so after surgery. Now back though one flavor is still off for me. Broth Water Jello try protein in as many different options as you can to find the right fight for you-- and know it may change from day to day or week to week.
