Birthday Newbie
I think that you might want to contact your PCP soon to find out how yur insurance is about approvals. The whole procedure including the surgery took me about 2 months and 3 weeks to accomplish. You will want a referral for a bariatric surgeon. They may have an informational seminar for you to attend. After my seminar I had an appointment with the surgeon, the dietican, a sleep study, a psychological evaluation and an addtional appointment with the surgeon. It seemed like a long time but I had mine on Thursday and glad it is over....I wish you the best...this weight thing has been such a struggle....Kathleen

I still get sharp pains in my left shoulder that I assume is from the gas. I get burpy feelings alot but am not uncomfortable. I had fat free cream of chicken soup tonight...it was at least a small change. Kathleen

I need help
Hi Alicia...I got banded on Thursday and thought about running out of the hospital before the surgery to try to lose weight on my own just one more time (of thousands of times). This is the hard part...I actually started thinking about food today...we can do this...so many people say that they are hungry before their first fill....remember that your body is recovering and it is normal to want to eat...we can all use this tool to get the results that we want...Kathleen

Day 6 Still lot of pain swallowing
Hi John...I got my band on the 15th. At first I just did not realize that I would have to take small sips spaced well apart as I was so dehydrated from the surgery...I would say I feel gassy or bubbly inside when I drink but would not describe it is as pain. I have not been able to have very much but am feeling better each day....wishing you well...Kathleen

37 Days to go and nervous!
Hi there...I am having my band on Thursday and started my liquid diet one week ago and have already lost eight pounds...I am excited and nervous too. I am afraid of being sick and a bit about the surgery but am so looking forward to feeling better physically, emotionally and socially as I have suffered in this body. Best, Kathleen
