  1. Did you have any weight restrictions at that time still?
  2. Yes, I will be talking to my own surgeon about this, but in the meantime while I wait for my appointment I want to ask a question. After your VSG when were you cleared to work out? I don't mean walking nor do I even mean running, I mean actual working out at the gym circuit and weight training?
  3. I didn't go with Dr. Metz but I believe he is through Parker Adventist hospital too. If I'm right then you're lucky. I went with Dr. Long at Park Adventist and it was a wonderful experience. I loved that hospital so much. I actually felt pampered at times. (Well as pampered as could be while still in pain from surgery. lol) ETA: Oh hmm, looks like maybe he doesn't go through Parker Adventist. Weird. I could have sworn I saw signs for Dr. Metz's weight loss classes at Parker Adventist when I was there for Dr. Long's classes.
  4. 10 minutes apart? I was never told that. I just had to break my pills into a bazillion pieces and take them one at a time. Even in the hospital they never had me wait in between each of them.
  5. Request sent. I think I did it right, it'll come from my old business name, Playing With My Bubbles.
  6. Sample pack #1 is gone. Are you still interested in #2 @@Alexis99?
  7. I'll let you know if they don't end up taking the top. If they do are you still interested in the bottom alone?
  8. I can no longer tolerate drinking Protein drinks so I'd like to pass these on. I have two packages of samples, each has 6 samples, each sample is a single serving. 9. I was approved on Medicaid in Colorado. Easy requirements and easy approval.
  10. I know already I'm going to have the same problem. It's one of the reasons I always used to eat fast. I can not stand hot food that is even just luke warm (I microwave EVERYTHING even if it literally just came out of the oven), and cold food that is getting close to room temperature (I've been known to pour milk into Cereal by placing the bowl IN the fridge so the milk carton doesn't have to come out at all). It's part of my sensory disorder. Hopefully it's not as severe for you. I've joked with hubby that I will have to eat my meals standing at the microwave and just reheat between each bite.
  11. HW (date I had my first appointment toward WLS) : 368 SW (12/19/16): 332 CW (12/29/16): 314.4
  12. Hi all! I live in Pueblo but had my surgery in Parker on 12/19. How's everyone doing today?
  13. Thank you so much. I was wondering if it had something to do to the ticker being already in my signature. Glad to know it's being worked on.
  14. Are you allowed to mix in protein powder like Genepro or does your surgeon want you to get in all the protein through foods alone?
  15. I already have a ticker in my signature and would like to add: HW - 368 SW - 332 CW - See ticker GW - 175 But when I go to save it it errors and says I can have 0 URLs in my signature. Other than the ticker I'm not adding a URL. I'm pretty sure I've seen other sigs with both tickers and text lines... how do I do it?
  16. Hi all! Joining this thread late but my surgery was also on December 19th. I LOVED my surgeon and the hospital. It went great. Now that I'm home and still dealing with full liquids I'm not doing so great. So very tired of sweet drinks, and I hate soup, always have. This has not been fun. Really looking forward to purees on the 2nd. Well, okay not really, I have problems with textures and pureed texture is one that makes me gag, but I can have mashed potatoes and unsweetened applesauce, so that'll be nice at least.
  17. I'm 9 days out and I want to want it, I really do, but omg my belly is still so sore! I don't have bruises but it FEELS like a giant bruise. Hubby tries to play with my boobs and the added sensation is just too much for me. So sad! I hope this doesn't last too long.
  18. December 19th was my date as well! *high fives* How are you feeling?
  19. Surgery went well. It's now 8 days out and I'm still in pain though. No where near as bad as when I had my gallbladder removed though so that was nice. It was a wonderful hospital and felt very well taken care of the entire time. Currently I'm at the stage where I would KILL to be able to CHEW something, but I won't. I start pureed on the 2nd so at least that'll be a little better.
  20. I've been approved! At the final class I learned I also had to have a letter from my PCP (previously told no, I didn't need that) so it took a little while to get the appointment with my primary and get the letter sent over. I was submitted to Medicaid on December 1st and DENIED December 2nd. Why? Because my PCP's letter was too in depth so Medicaid didn't consider it a final clearance letter. I immediately called my PCP and she actually called the surgeon's office and worked with them directly so to write the letter exactly as requested. I was resubmitted that day (Friday the 2nd) and got the call yesterday (Monday the 5th) that I was APPROVED. Best of all there was still a surgical opening on December 19th, the last day of surgery for the year. I got it by the skin of my teeth but I got in this year! This has been such a crazy and stressful journey but now it's finally almost over. Well, this part of it anyway.
  21. First of all, a fat child usually does not become a trim, healthy adult. The odds are stacked against that, especially if she has a medical problem.Secondly, the idea that a person can be obese and healthy is wrong. Obesity is a leading cause of diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer. Many obese people in their teens, 20's and even 30's don't have any obesity related health problems, but that is almost never the case for obese people in their 40's, 50's and beyond. It catches up with us. There is no such thing as a healthy obese 65 year old. This isn't just about vanity. We aren't fat shaming and we don't hate ourselves for being obese. Being 100 pounds overweight will take 10 years off my life. When you are young you may not care, but I have 4 young adult children. I want to be here to meet their children and watch them grow up. My kids, ages 18-25, are all healthy weight. You better believe I would be concerned if any of them were overweight. As others have said, PCOS is more common than you think. It can lead to infertility and many other health issues. If this were my daughter I would at least want to rule out any possible medical issues. Then after that I would work with a nutritionist to help her. Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App Whatever. I did say "and the doctor can find no medical reasons" but you can continue with your incorrect opinion. I've read the research, I know the facts and stats and it supports the statement that being fat along with living a healthy lifestyle is no less healthy than being thin and leading a healthy lifestyle. Old thoughts used to be that fat alone was bad, but that's no longer known to be the case. So go ahead, convince yourself you're not fat shaming. I'll be over here being right. Ta! *poofs away because there's no point in trying to shows facts to someone who prefers to shame people*
  22. I'm sure this won't be a popular opinion here but it's also possible she's just a larger person. Not all fat people are unhealthy. If a person is eating healthy, is active, and the doctor can find no medical reasons that explain the weight gain then it's possibly just her natural body shape. Seriously, just being fat isn't a death sentence.
  23. Well that couple thousand dollars means the difference between me having surgery or not. I don't have a savings, I don't have credit cards, I don't have ANY WAY at all of making up the difference. The only way I might be able to do surgery in Mexico is by paying with my tax refund, and it's going to take all of it. I'm really envious of people who have choices or who can pay out of pocket without a blink, but that's not me. So if medicaid doesn't pay then I have to go to lowest cost option, which is Mexico. I have no fears about going to Mexico. I know far more people who've had good results in Mexico and far more people who've had surgical complications (not just WLS) here in the US. A good friend of mine went in on September 5th to a well known, high ranked, hospital for a routine surgery (not WLS). She was in the ICU until 4 days ago. She's still not home. I'm sorry you had such a rough time but your complications could have occurred here in the US just as easily. And no, that's not the surgeon I've chosen.
  24. My surgeon's office now has all the forms (minus the psych form which my therapist's office just refuses to fill out, the don't fill out any forms regarding anything involving bariatric surgery apparently) and the chart notes from my primary visits. So hopefully medicaid will accept it all. At least I'm closer to getting the surgery in December now. I'll have another weigh in with my primary in October, then the final weight loss class in November along with a "binder class" where we all go over all the details of the surgery, more in depth what I can eat when (first week, second week, etc). I've already read through the binder and I've researched the crap out of everything, but I still have to go to the class. After the class then they can submit me for approval.
