  4. Hi there - I have read some people experiencing bad gas pains after surgery - I am dreading this. I get bad gas pains maybe once or twice a year, but they are really painful ... I just hate it. I take Gas X, and rub by stomach in circles trying to get the gas out but usually stay up all night completely uncomfortable and in a lot of pain. Is there a prescription the surgeon can give me that will work better than Gas X ... or any other suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I have bipolar disorder and addictive behaviors (using alcohol as a coping mechanism). My psych evaluation started by answering questions on two different types of tests, followed by the Pyschiatrist talking to me about the tests. At the end of the session, the pysch. would only give me clearance if I completed three "contingencies": proof from my own Pyschiatrist that he is aware of my upcoming surgery (so that he can monitor my prescribed medications), proof that I was attending an addictions group (a note from AA stating I was attending meetings), and proof that I started and will continue working with an individual therapist. After supplyinv all that documentation, I then received pysch. clearance, and I have been scheduled for surgery September 13th! Completing her requirements was tedious, but understandable. 7. I am 33 and I was in the same boat ... No real medical issues (high blood pressure, diabetes, etc) but my BMI is 50. What you will probably/maybe find out through your sleep study clearance (if you're snoring loud enough) that you have sleep apnea. Depression is also a qualifying factor. And I have that too. But if your PCP approves, then you should be golden away. I think. I'm not an expert Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. Hello and thanks for reading. I had a sleep study done last week, and I have been diagnosed with sleep apnea. After speaking with the Lung, Asthma, and Sleep people it turns out that I will not receive "clearance for surgery" for at least 5 weeks. I was planning on visiting family (primarily my 7 yr old daughter) at the end of July 1,500 miles away and was hoping I was to get the surgery beforehand. Reality check ... Not gonna happen. So, I will now anticipate surgery date in September. I am bummed. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
