    I went protein crazy!

Does anyone know how long you can store a food with Protein powder mixed in? For example, I like greek yogurt mixed with vanilla Protein Powder enough that I'm thinking of mixing up a few days' worth to have for Breakfast. Is the shelf life the same as the base product (i.e. the yogurt) or does the protein make it spoil or separate or whatever, faster? Also, I know you can't add protein to hot liquids but could you mix the protein with say, cold broth and then heat it up later? Thanks in advance for your sage advice!

    I went protein crazy!

I've been finding the vanilla and chocolate Protein powders mixed with milk a little too sweet, so I started mixing them with other things. Vanilla mixed with greek yogurt cuts the tanginess and ends up tasting a little like cream cheese frosting (but not as sweet). Chocolate Protein Powder in a SF chocolate pudding was good too.
  3. ccflotron34 2 days with no Protein does sound awfully hard -- but you're almost there now! After surgery I find I kind of don't care about food. My family keeps apologizing for eating normal food in front of me, but it doesn't bother me. I do miss coffee when I smell it, but that's about it. And eventually we will be able to enjoy food again!

    What's your favourite...

Serious answer: I'm trying to tell you something about my life Maybe give me insight between black and white The best thing you've ever done for me Is to help me take my life less seriously, it's only life after all Well darkness has a hunger that's insatiable And lightness has a call that's hard to hear I wrap my fear around me like a blanket I sailed my ship of safety till I sank it, I'm crawling on your shore. I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains I looked to the children, I drank from the fountain There's more than one answer to these questions pointing me in crooked line The less I seek my source for some definitive The closer I am to fine. And funny answer: She blew my nose, and then she blew my mind

    Calling all June '16 sleevers!

I had my surgery on June 21. All's going well so far. Belly is a little sore, but I borrowed a body pillow and that helps me sleep (on my side). I'm not having much trouble getting my liquids or "meals" in, and I've been walking a good amount. And, I pooped today!

    June 27 - FREAKING OUT

Good luck to you all. I was in your shoes a few days ago - my surgery was June 21. Now I'm home and doing fine -- soon you will be, too.
  7. ccflotron34, good luck with your surgery! I had mine on Tuesday, 6/21 and am doing very well. Just a little sore but able to get my Water, Protein and walking in. I think I was pretty well prepared, but one thing i noticed is they don't tell you everything up front -- maybe trying not to overwhelm you with a lot of information. The hardest day for me was finding out I had to do the pre-op diet only one day before I needed to start it. I would have liked more time to mentally prepare for that. If you are anything like me, right now and just before you get wheeled into the operating room are the two most nerve wracking times. Oh, and maybe waiting to get discharged from the hospital -- I was so ready to go home. But now I'm very happy I did it, even with almost a month of mushy food ahead of me and a sore tummy.

    Any other June sleevers?

Oh, Tonya2BFit, I'm so sorry to hear that! Very frustrating.

    Any other June sleevers?

Had surgery yesterday at 4pm, a couple hours late. Because of the hiatal hernia I couldn't do the single incision. Feeling ok and walked for the first time at 10pm. Looking forward to drinking water and seeing my family today.

    D-day- June 21

Made it through the first night. My surgery was at 4:00pm and I walked around the floor around 10pm. Some pain but it's manageable. Looking forward to having my family visit today. And drinking water... Best thing I brought to the hospital was ear plugs. How is everyone else doing?
  11. I live in Metrowest and work in down town Boston. Had my sleeve yesterday! Made it through the first night pretty well.

    Any other June sleevers?

Thanks for the good wishes! Today is the big day. Surgery scheduled at 2:10. May need a hiatal hernia repair, too. Hoping I can still do the single incision procedure.

    D-day- June 21

Definitely looking forward to having more energy, less pain, and being able to keep up with my family skiing and biking!
  15. Ostrich and emu vs. weasel ball never fails to make me laugh. It's funnier with the sound off, in my opinion.

    D-day- June 21

I would say more nervous than excited. I've never had surgery before. My main issues are knee and foot pain, which are manageable but I don't want them to get worse. So I expect my quality of life will get a little worse immediately after the surgery before it gets better. I was pretty bummed out about having to start the pre-op diet, but now I'm halfway through it and my mood is getting better. Plus it has helped me lose a couple more pounds. I guess I have been so focused on getting ready for surgery that I haven't spent as much time thinking about how great things could be a few months from now! How about you?

    Any other June sleevers?

I don't have a date yet, but I put in for June 13, 20 or 27 and have been told I'm very likely to get one of those dates. Best of luck to everyone!
