  1. I know someone personally that is getting surgery through the Affordable care act! Her surgery is this month. She asked which plan covers weight loss surgery before she purchased insurance. It does pay, you just have to pick the right coverage. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App No, it doesn't always pay. There are absolutely NO individual ACA policies that cover WLS in Idaho. And before ACA I had $30 dr visit copays, my deductible was $1500 and my monthly premium was $220. So I stand by my original sentiment.Sorry to hear that. We are in Georgia. Different state, different policy. Good luck with your journey! Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App

    I work with Insurance.

Look at the Affordable care act, I met a lady who is using Humana PPO. She said the requirements are minimum. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App
  5. Same here...my doctor told it'll be great if I lose a couple of pounds but if I lose more than that, no surgery. If I gain weight, no surgery. My goal is to lose 5 pounds and maintain it! Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App
  6. I have BCBS of CA ppo, my policy reads similar to yours. I have a $500 admission and $200 copay for the specialist. My first appointment is June 6 with the Doctor and nutritionist. Mine stated 3 months supervised Doctor visits, I didn't see anything about the nutritionist but I'm glad I'm seeing one! I guess I'll find out more on Monday. It could be doctors recommendations. I'll let you know how it went. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App
  7. I know this question probably has been asked. How did you tell people, did you tell? I've been very private thus far. I'm not planning on telling my coworkers, I'll probably use vacation time if I am approved for surgery. I haven't even told my boyfriend. He's very encouraging when it comes to me losing weight however, I am nervous to tell him my decision. I just don't want the negatively from anyone! I feel like I'm making the best decision that's going to benefit me. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App

    BCBS-CA meeting requirements

I too have BCBS CA PPO. I was told anything out of network wouldn't be paid. The surgery is covered 100% if I stay in network and they prefer that you use a BSBC center of Excellence. I still have to pay for the specialist appointments and hospital stay. As stated by another member, I'm weary of those type of clinics, especially those that advertise on the radio. They come across as infomercials. Too good to be true! Good luck and please be safe! Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App

Telling me what she'd do and i dont need to have the surgery, just keep going to the gym. So no, i wouldnt tell anyone else. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App I'm only telling a few and my mother is not one of them at least yet. Hopefully your mom will come around. 14. I didn't go to a program like Jenny Craig but I went to a doctor for weight loss, does this count? Description of non-surgical weight-reduction program (e.g., Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Optifast, MediFast,), initial weight, end weight, duration (start and end dates) • Time lapse between the initial bariatric consultation and date of surgery (recommended 3 months) • Documented failure to respond to conservative measures for weight reduction prior to consideration of bariatric surgery, and these attempts should be reviewed by the practitioner prior to seeking approval for the surgical procedure. Medical doctor (MD) order for surgery that includes current height, weight, and body mass index (BMI), surgery requested and recommendation Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App
