I have been going through a hospital in Cleveland planning on getting the sleeve. I basically have the all clear. My insurance does not pay!! The cost is 23,000. After I had all the tests and lost 30 lbs I started to look into Medical Tourism and found a great surgeon in Mexico for less than half of Cleve price. What frustrates me is that they expect me to go on a Adkins type diet and still lose 5-10% of my weight before surgery, which is Aug 17th. I understand the pre op diet and shrinking my liver, but I'm so frustrated that they want me to lose 12 Lbs, at the least, before my surgery in a month. I took me 4 months to lose 30!! I'm from Cleveland also, going through St Vincent. Unfortunately I'm self pay so I don't know how quick this will go. I'm doing all my pre testing now and meeting with dietitian next week for first time. I would love to connect with some of you Cleveland gals!! I just had my EGD today they put me into a twilight and went through my mouth. Ivan remember most of it. It is just hazy. I would double check with the doctor and ask why she has chosen that procedure over an endoscopy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My doctor made me do a in home sleep study because I do snore quite loudly. He wanted this info for safety during surgery. I have to have an EGD done because my I'm nauseous a lot. I also have to see a cardiologist. I'm not sure what testing he is going to do, probably an EKG. I think every doctor is different and it depends on your symptoms. Hi everyone, I'm new to this adventure. I haven't even seen dietitian yet. I have been trying to make changes, that I know I will eventually need to make and the one I'm having the most problems with is not drinking while eating and within 30 before or after. I have always gotten so much pleasure from quenching my thirst while eating. Anyone deal with this problem? Or have any ideas how to make it easier?
