  1. I'm not on facebook but I really do appreciate the support of this website. I've been jumping through hoops for several years for my sleeve and now that I am only 12 days away from surgery, I am so scared that the hunger and weakness in the pre op diet will cause me to abandon it. I knew that I was addicted to food, that I love food. I eat (ate) for thousands of reasons. Being hungry never factored into it. But now I am hungry, really hungry. Is this how it will feel after the sleeve operation? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Mine is 31st of May too! The pre op diet is making me very tired. I have doubts about all of this because I have GERD and suffer quite alot with reflux issues. My surgeon insists that the sleeve won't make things worse. He won't do a bypass on me as I have a bowel condition, so it's the sleeve or nothing. The days are going by so slowly! x Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I am still scheduled for the 31st of May. Pre op assessment this Friday the 20th.

  6. At the moment, I am and have been losing my hair. My Protein levels were low so I had already started protein shakes for Breakfast. I have a bowel condition which means I cannot have dairy, wheat or fruit so I often use Meal Replacement shakes to keep my essential nutrients up. I don't eat meat or anything that comes out of the sea. Due to my disability, I can only cook on a "good" day and usually make a lentil soup from scratch and freeze it. I am 95% bedbound with no family, church or help and had been living on toast, Cereal, and generally carby things that wouldn't spoil easily. As my disability grew worse, my weight slowly crept up. I had to go into a program here (on the National Health Service) two years ago to start to qualify for my bariatric surgery now. I have reduced my weight from 262 lbs to 225 lbs over this time. The short answer is that I was already using a Protein shake for breakfast and a meal replacement one for my evening meal due to medical problems. I drifted into homemade soup at lunchtimes as a way to get additional veg in. All I am doing now is not having Snacks and further rubbish on top. Sitting in bed for days at a time, it is so easy to grab commercial veggie crisps, hummous, pita chips etc which are really high in calories. Once I cut out the calorific snacks, most of what was left was liquid! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Doing my best. I don't even have to be on a liquid diet. Here in the UK they seem to do it differently. I am just sticking to having my calories as if I was post surgery to give myself a fighting chance. I want to deal with the angst of liquid/pureed foods now. Make mistakes now, test the Water. I am on day 5. Suffering! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  9. I am bedbound so it's so hard not to think of food and to have head hunger. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  11. If I were mentally, emotionally and physically strong enough to "suck it up", I wouldn't need surgery myself. I am bedbound and housebound so cannot exercise, or even walk but a few steps a day, because of severe fibromyalgia and cfs. That's why I am having surgery. I also have a bowel condition and severe IBS D. Everyday, what I eat is a struggle because of the effect it has on my body. Yes, I am weak and yes, I am reaching out and whining. Because I am alone, no one understands and I am sad. So I came here to ask for help. I did not get fat from being indulgent, I got fat because I can no longer move. I haven't posted all of this because I didn't think I had to. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. Because I am not sure that I am disciplined enough to eat sensibly afterwards. Not sure I can cope without my comfort foods. Worried about excess skin. Angry that I can't just diet to lose weight like "normal" people. etc, etc Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Now that my surgery is looming, I watch the shows in a different way. To see how they recover, lose weight, get their lives back etc. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. I am on day 5 of a pre op diet, diet. My actual two week diet starts May 17th. I' m a mess and considering cancelling the surgery altogether at this point.

  16. Hi everyone! I am scheduled for surgery on May 31st here in the UK. The closer the date gets, the more distressed I am becoming. I am dieting now and must start the two week diet on May 17th. Not a liquid one, just a low carb, low fat 1,000 calorie one. I am only 5 days into this diet and am really struggling. This has given me second thoughts about having the sleeve done. If this is what it will feel like post surgery, I don't know if it will be worth it. But after fighting 2 years for it, I'd be a fool not to have it done. I am really upset and don't know what to do! Help please. Gina Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
