Clothing Sizes: What do they even mean anymore?!?!?

In my mind I say Im cool if I make it to like at 16 or an 18...whatever that is. My body is super weird like for the last 10 years I've been in 26/28 pants, but at the same time I've gained roughly 75-100 lbs. I somewhat dread the changes coming, because I wont be able to pop online to my trusted plus size retailers and just order. Im not a shopper, never have been, never will be. Going into clothes shops and having to actually try on clothes is pure torture for me. I think my plan of action is going to just be to wear dresses for the next 6 months, at least I can get a few wears out of them unlike pants that just fall off(for some strange reason none of my work pants have belt loops). After Surgery Helper

I worried about this pre surgery too. Im just a week post op. I live alone with my dog, with no help in sight. But let me tell ya everything was fine..well for me. I know everyone is different. I did not get stuck on the potty like I feared the most. Lol. I was able to bend completely over right out the gate....since of course I kept dropping things. First few days of feeding my dog or walking up and down the stairs I winced a lil, but nothing major. I was a lil and still am slow moving. The first night how I was on the phone, stood up to put my slippers on, and fell over onto the couch. Lol. I will say that my dog is only 15lbs and walking her the first few days was like having a Great Dane pull me. But otherwise things have been peachy. Still lil ol miss independent me, just with a couple more scars. I predict you will do fine as well. It's never too late, until its too late

    Help

The area surrounding my incisions has all these tiny little bumps. I dont know if its from the weird Water proof tape they had over them or what. No one told me if I could or couldn't put something on the area. It itches like crazy, and of course no one answers or responds to messages at my surgeons office. Im sure its ok, but it sure is annoying....and awkward...when I start scratching in public. Lol It's never too late, until its too late

    Swollen belly

I had surgery on the 4th, i dont think my belly is swollen anymore, but I am pretty weak. I try to walk this trail with my dog every day but it seems like Im stopping to sit more than walking, by the time I get home i need a nap. Lol. I'll be soooo glad when I get my energy back. I went to one if my Dr's today and I have lost 20lbs since my pre-op last week, sounds good, but seems excessive to me. Im so done with liquid everything. It is a real struggle to get my shakes in. Come on mushy food stage! Good luck to you Im sure everything is a'ok, our bodies all heal at their own pace. It's never too late, until its too late
  6. This of course is no serious topic, just totally random. I often times wonder what my dog is thinking as she stares at my huge bubbly body naked. Im starting to think she likes it as she's always front and center for the show. Lol. My dog is my number one companion she loves to be on me, under me, near me...whatever. It proves to be a challenge when she tries to sit on my thighs but my stomach pushes her off. Lol! I wonder if she too will note the changes that my body is about to take on. I wonder if she'll give me a break from toy throwing when I come home from the hospital. And maybe be more cooperative on her leash. Ahhh one can dream. Sorry yall, I just love my dog....5 days till surgery and the pressures getting to me. It's never too late, until its too late

    August Bypass Buddies!

Has anyone else just randomly weighed a week after surgery? I went to my obgyn today and of course they weigh you. When I looked at the scale I was shocked. And once she found out that I'd just had surgery last Thursday she was concerned. I assume its not an issue but losing 20lbs in 7 days especially during my healing phase seems like a lot...but perhaps Im ova thinking it. It's never too late, until its too late

    August Bypass Buddies!

Man that liquid potassium is hot lava. My nurse even halfed it with Water and my arm was still on fire and still numb. I went thru 4 bags of that stuff. After all my suffering it was determined it wasnt helping. Lol. So I then was moved to the giant potassium horse pills. But that too was my only complaint. It's never too late, until its too late

    Cravings

I know the feeling. I had my bypass on the 4th. And I just want a sweet potato for some reason, heck I'd settle for an egg, , anything but these shakes. Lol! I find myself holding the spoon to my lips for minutes as I try to force the broth in. I still can't decipher what my hunger is like, because my stomach is just a mess of noises and gas pain. So I've just been following one of the surgeons guides. All I know is i look forward to another food stage. It's never too late, until its too late

    Burps

I find I'm burping after Water. I mean I burp all throught the day whether I'm eating or drinking. But for some reason with cold water right out the refrigerator its instantaneous. Sent from my LG-H343 using the BariatricPal App

    Curves gym

Have any ladies gone to Curves post op?? I know its a lil old lady gym, but I always enjoyed the simplicity of knowing you were going to be working out the right muscles and not being lost in a gym full of foreign equipment. Not to mention the 90 year old planking next to you is major motivation. Im trying to decide if I want to go back to Curves or if I want brave a regular gym(because their hours are longer). Sleeve vs bypass

@ MinaDina, did u have the sleeve or bypass? Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App I had the bypass, mostly because of the amount of weight I need to lose. And because I was on such a high dose of Omeprazole consistently the surgeon thought it better as well. It's never too late, until its too late

    Sleeve vs bypass

I just had a thought. I had to do a barium swallow test and they actually found very little acid in my stomach. I was shocked, because here I was taking pills every day. So far after surgery I haven't had one pill. I have no reflux or symptoms. It could also be the fact that Im not eating real foods yet. But the whole time I thought my GERD was this horrible thing and it really wasn't. I dont know if you'll be required to do a swallow test, but it will tell you something about your GERD and then you could discuss it with your Dr and decide on the best option for you. August Bypass Buddies!

Had my surgery on the 4th. So I've been home a few days now. I dont have any excruciating pain, but I notice as the day starts to end my tummy hurts more. These few days have been trial runs. The first two days home, I kept falling asleep before I'd finish a shake. Lol. I think my gas pains are subsiding, thank the lord! But I've now started to have back pain, especially when I get out the bed. I've been pretty lucky, no adjustments have needed to be made for sleeping. In the hospital I laid on my side the whole time, the sitting up was the most uncomfortable for me. I tell yall, the head hunger is real. Most people say they dont get it, Im here to play the offense. I see commercials or watch cooking shows and Im like dang I could eat that. Lol. Even tho I really couldn't. Every sip of a shake is a chore, every spoonful of broth is a chore. I dont in actuality want to eat anything bad, but Im craving real food something awful. I mean food I wasnt even eating prior to surgery. Daily I dream of cauliflower mash. Lol My struggle is so very real, but at least its just one day at a time. Good luck to you all It's never too late, until its too late

    Trouble sleeping...

I had horrible insomnia before surgery. Even taking prescription sleep meds and otc sleep aids, I'd still wake up like clock work 3-4 times a night. My PCP was convinced I had sleep apnea...she was wrong. Lol. I thought my first night in the hospital I'd at least get some rest, nope. Everytime the nurse came in I was wide awake. Now that I've been home a few days things are still the same. Im mostly worried about when I go back to work, pre surgery I could walk in tired and just barely make it thru the day. Sometimes I would get a soda to wake me up, or eat a pack of Peanut Butter crackers.. Now Im gonna be eating way less and missing a lot of nutrients, maybe I should buy caffeine pills. Fingers crossed for the best. My surgeons office wrote on my paperwork I was having this surgery to help with insomnia... oh how I wish that were true. Lol It's never too late, until its too late
  17. I had the bypass and Im feeling something similar. If I have yogurt or applesauce, one or two bites and Im feeling it. Today I was having some broth while on the phone. I was super lazy with it, so I hadn't strained out the veggies, I was simply spooning around them. 45 minutes of gossip later there's barely any broth left ,and I start to panic. I didn't feel any signs of going overboard, I'm hoping I didn't do any damage. It's never too late, until its too late
  18. I had the gastric bypass. Honestly when I woke up I was mostly uncomfortable more than in serious pain. The gas pains had to be the worse. And sitting up in the chair was uncomfortable for me. Luckily I found comfort on my side fetal position like, that first day. I think I only had three pain pills in my 2 day stay. I was really terrified I wasnt going to be able to get out of bed or off the toilet. Lol. But everything was fine. It hurts a lil when my tummy jiggles, but other than that I kept wondering if I even have a complete bypass so little have my post op issues been. It's never too late, until its too late

    Sleeve vs bypass

Honestly I think its up to you. I chose gastric bypass because I had so much weight to lose and because I already suffered from GERD(been on pills for years) getting the sleeve seemed not right for me. With that being said my surgeon is optimistic that in a month or so I wont need my GERD pills at all. Now on the flip side I met a lady at my surgeons office who was about where I am, but she was having the sleeve. Her choice. You're surgeon can recommend, but ultimately its your choice(with insurance approval and all) Dont quote me on this but I would assume overtime your GERD symptoms would improve greatly. And you have to think that maybe some things that are your triggers prior to surgery may be something you may never eat again. It's never too late, until its too late

    pureed stage

My surgeon says yes to grits and oatmeal. He even says toast(not brave enough for that yet) I know that grits aren't very nutritious but I was thinking of whipping them up with scoops of unflavored Protein powder just for something different. I couldn't stomach jellos or puddings before surgery and even after its hard to to get one down . Im already down to shakes, popsicles, and yogurt so it'd be nice to have a different texture at least once a week. It's never too late, until its too late
  21. I just had surgery so I haven't lost any weight yet. But at the forefront of my mind Im terrified about the changes my body will start to take on. I wasnt skinny growing up, so I have no memories of what "normal" or healthy should look like on me. I honestly somewhat like myself this way, I Neva craved being a size 0, I'd be happy at 18. I know what fits my body and looks good on me, I know that men are attracted to me despite the fat. I suppose its my comfort zone talking really. Im just terrified, the unknown has always been a nemesis of mine and this surgery and everything that comes after is right down that ally. It's never too late, until its too late

    August Bypass Buddies!

Had my bypass yesterday. Don't remember much but a hard table and cold room. Oh and the anesthesiologist telling me to keep breathing into the mask. At which point I said "I dont want your stupid mask" and then I promptly passed out. It's never too late, until its too late

    S-Day

Thanks guys. I started to cry in the "holding" area. Lol. All the people in there with me had family with them and I felt so alone. Plus they took my glasses and anyone as blind as I am knows that's scary in itself. But after all that. I made it! My tummy is uncomfortable as all get out, but I'll live.
