  1. The only thing I qualified for is the balloon as my Bmi was 30. I'm three mo post op and have lost 36 pounds. Couldn't be happier. Fist few days are rough but not bad beyond that. Orbera website has lists of approved doctors who are skilled in and supportive of the procedure. I hope to lose another 15 lbs these remaining three months.
  2. Waywardtraveler. Eloquently stated as always
  3. Other posters have done a great job offering tips and tricks so I just want to say I think you will thrilled with the results Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I have learned that I eat for just about any reason, none of them the right reason; actual hunger. Also, I sure can see how a person can become bulimic. Having a balloon makes vomiting almost commonplace . What say you? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. 32 since April 19 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I see a tremendous difference on the two pictures! Wow great job Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. V8 juice has a high Fiber version and it works like a charm Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. LIPstikl Lady and Wayward Traveler: Just a note to thank you both for your uplifting informative posts!
  9. I took some miralax everyday but it works too slowly. Maybe we should mix the miralax into the V8. LOLOL
  10. After 7 wks of constant constipation despite miralax use, I came apon the magic bullet for me anyway. V-8 juice with FIBER. Worked without cramping in less than 24 hrs. Also gives you your vegetables and can be enjoyed hot like a Soup as well. weight loss update: 27 pounds 7 weeks post balloon
  11. No regrets whatsoever! It works. I would never lose weight any other way and have tried and failed at everything. I highly recommend this.
  12. Worry not my friends! If "byehoes" does get the money, she'll never pass the psych eval..
  13. Physicians abroad are likely more experienced in the balloon procedure because it has only been FDA approved in the US since august of 2015. Therefore, American physicians just haven't had the opportunity to do a lot of these. Having said that, who would provide your follow-ups, med refills or modifications if the surgeon was out of the country. Think twice.
  14. I have also tried it both ways and just don't notice any difference.
  15. Results from Gastric Balloon & Endolumenal Bariatric Procedures. ballon in on 4/22 as of 5/15, 18 pounds lost
  16. My PCP doesn't even know I had a procedure and never reacted to my weight gain, increasing blood pressure and cholesterol over the years. Agree with all posters. Bariatric practices are masterful at dealing with insurance issues. Bypass the PCP if you are getting any pushback.
  17. I would think you are qualified for the lap band. They don't go by pounds needed to lose, but by BMI. There are BMI calculators on the internet. If you are at least a 30 BMI and have at least one medical issue ( ie, High Blood pressure or high cholesterol) that could be tied to your weight, you're qualified.
  18. I was also ill prepared, but I'm three weeks out and this is what I wish I had known: The wedge pillow to reduce gastric reflux supply of high Protein drinks; I'm still not managing solid foods Reglan which I asked for 2 days after the procedure. It worked. The Nexium and zofran only helped marginally those first days. Use a laxative before the procedure because between anesthesia and the presence of a "foreign object" in the stomach slows down peristalsis and severe constipation will increase the likelihood of increased vomiting. You may be relegated to a liquid diet longer than they are telling you so stock up on chicken beef or vegetable bouillon. Having something warm is satisfying and just feels good. I am so glad I'm retired because there is no way I could have gone to work before 10 days passed. Be prepared to be fatigued for a few weeks. Cream Soups are also good, but for those with veg or potatoes, I am straining them for now. I wish you the very best and look forward to reading about your progress. This is truly worth it. I lost 16 pounds in 21 days.
  19. TO the reader who is two months post op and still feeling horrible, as an RN, I'm going to take a stab at suggesting that you may need a mild laxative at this point. Try miralax. this may alleviate some of the symptoms.
  20. I am exactly three weeks post Orbera today and am feeling pretty good. 16 pounds gone. Stamina low but improving by the day. Not doing well with solid food, but getting 15gm Protein with each atkins shake. I strain creamy Soups. Satisfying, and add a little skim milk to them. Suggest everyone use miralax. clogged colon wont help with digestion.
  21. Consider getting some MIRALAX and taking a half dose every day after you start eating.
  22. I had absolutely no pain, but certainly some anxiety and did get a scrip for zanax.
