  1. Howdy, I had bypass on 1/30/19 and was sent home the very next day. I immediately thought it was odd that I now have a large indention on the right side of my stomach with an incision in it. When I lie down the dent goes away. It’s extremely painful and gets warm to the touch. I’m almost 3 weeks post op and the indention and pain hasn’t subsided at all. I called/emailed/ and visited my dr and he said he may have hit a nerve while closing up or closed it too tightly and to give it time. I’m on round the clock liquid Tylenol and nerve blockers and am discouraged and frustrated by the lack of improvement. I extended my leave from work because It’s too painful to sit on the drive work let alone sit at a desk 8 hours and am worried about pushing it back any further. Has anyone else experienced something like this? If so, how long did your pain last and do you have any tips?

1/30/19 Bypass - Painful stomach indention

Lee I can definitely relate except none of mine wrapped. Yesterday I was feeling a little better and went to Walmart, which resulted in being later out all day. My skin is red and stings and it feels like the internal sutures are tearing me up. Ouch! I sure hope whatever is going on clears up quickly for both of us!! I haven’t found information online about this type of experience and while I’m sorry you’re going through this, it’s a bit reassuring to know I’m not alone.

1/30/19 Bypass - Painful stomach indention

Thank you Debbie! I appreciate the support!
  4. Hey All, So today was my first day home after having Gastric Bypass on Wednesday, 1/30. All day my stomach has been gurgling and I ended up slowly running to the bathroom with an upset stomach and lots of gas several times. At first I was excited not to be backed up from all the pain meds, but it’s happened all day now. Is it normal to poop 6-8 times so soon after surgery? Is it a reaction to a new medication/vitamin or something I’m drinking? Any ideas?
  5. Thanks for responding! Gas-x is a good idea, I’ll look into that and see if it helps. I didn’t get much sleep and was in the bathroom most of the night. Hoping these first few uncomfortable days pass quickly for us all!
  6. Howdy, I’m scheduled for surgery on 1/30/19 and am on day 9 of my 4 week liquid diet. The diet consists of 4 Bariatric Advantage shakes, 2 Bariatric Advantage protein bars, and either a small banana or 1 cup of skim milk per day. It’s been hard, but I’ve stuck to it and found I’m not hungry or hangry like I was the first 4-5 days. I lost 14lbs in the first week, yay! However, both yesterday and today I’ve gained a pound back. I’ve been told it could be water weight or a number of things, but it is so dang frustrating! Has anyone else encountered this? To try and help myself from going crazy I’ve decided to stop weighing myself everyday. But I’m worried if I gain anymore I’m going to mentally snap and go binge on nachos! Any advice, support, or encouragement would be greatly appreciated!!

    Jan 2019 bypass buddies

I got my date today, January 30th. I’m in disbelief that it was approved. I went through the process in 2016 only to be denied due to a miscommunication by my insurance 8 months prior. I was devastated and ended up quitting my job to find one with better insurance. At new employee orientation I requested a detailed list of approved procedures, lol. I don’t think I’ll fully believe that it’s really happening until they roll me into the operating room.

    PCOS Strikes again!

Hi ladies, I'm going through the process to get approved for a DS in November. Woot woo! I've been working on losing weight and have reached that magical number where my periods have returned, which I'm ok with. However, today is day 49 of the worst period ever!! The GYN and I are good buddies, as I've seen and talked to him 4-6 times in the last three weeks. We did 10 days of Provera which worked out to 7 days of light spotting. Two ultrasounds, lining is still thick (ugh), a biopsy that was negative for cancer (wahoo!) but I still just continue to bleed heavily with really bad cramps and PMS. I found out last week I have an enlarged heart, fatty liver disease, and several gallstones (which are all things I can live with) but that has the Doc second guessing birth control as an option. Plus neither of us want me to gain any weight - I'm already at 390. Options given: Wait it out and hope it sorts itself out with more weight loss and eventually the DS. Or look into a hysterectomy (I'm 30 with no kids and not married) Any advice, love, support or anything would be greatly appreciated!! I'm really at my emotional and physical limit these days.

    PCOS Strikes again!

Thank you for all the advice!! I love kids and have always wanted a big family, but in my mind that doesn't necessarily mean they have to be my biological kids. I'd be just as excited to adopt and or foster then birth my own. I'm not sure about being checked for fibroids. I know on the ultrasound he saw a polyp, but I guess I don't know enough about fibroids. I will research them and discuss with my dr. Thank you! It's also really encouraging to hear that PCOS and I could possibly learn to coexist after surgery. I was hoping that was the case, but these last few weeks have me second guessing everything. New guy!

Hey Mike, I'm new too welcome! Do you have a surgery date yet? What part of the process are you at? I'm on month 2 of a 7 month insurance required diet.
  14. I'm in Winchester. I'm just starting the process through Valley Health. I have a 7 month required diet from my insurance. Figure 7 months is going to come and go regardless, so I better make them count. [emoji4]
